DanganRonpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Will Have High Res Movies, Touch Controls

By Spencer . July 9, 2013 . 6:13pm

imageDanganRonpa 1+2 Reload is a compilation of Spike Chunsoft’s two DanganRonpa PSP games made for PlayStation Vita. These games will be enhanced, Famitsu reports. DanganRonpa 1+2 Reload will have faster loading times, touch controls (which also change the game’s difficulty) and high resolution punishment movies. Spike Chunsoft have DanganRonpa 1+2 Reload slated for October 10 in Japan.

DanganRonpa: Trigger Happy Havoc will be released in early 2014 care of NIS America. The English localized version will only have the first DanganRonpa game and if that sells well enough perhaps we’ll get DanganRonpa 2 in the future.

Can anyone confirm just yet whether or not Trigger Happy Havoc will actually be the Reload version of Dangonronpa 1 or if it’s just a vita port of the game? It’s a slight difference..

    • TheExile285

It should be the Reload Version with the new features

      • Margaret Chan

I’m looking for confirmation from news source, NISA, NISA-workers… My first speculation was oh vita must be 1-2 but nope.

        • DesmaX

… Look, it makes no sense to do that.

If they’re bringing the Vita version, it’s the reloaded. Why even do that much work?

And I doubt 1 & 2 even share the same files on the collection, so it shouldn’t be a problem to separate them

          • Kelohmello

Cheaper to localize only one half of the game. And it’s not that hard for the guys in japan to cut the game in half since they’re probably the ones doing base editing of the game in the first place for localization.

Touch controls that change difficultly? Is that like with VRL where playing on Easy makes it so the NPCs give you more hints?

Also, I hope I can just the touch controls without changing the difficultly. It’s a lot easier in VRL to just use the touch screen instead of the buttons for that type of gameplay (IMO at least).

    • Lumi

I think the gameplay difficulty isn’t much of a problem, but I set the difficulty to the easiest for Action when I played, and I assume that the “touch controls that change the game’s difficulty”. Aiming is super duper high school easy if you have a certain skill.

I’ve tried various difficulties for Logic and things seem relatively ok too (plus the fact you can deduce almost everything correctly before the start of the trials, most of the time) Then again, I only played this game for its story.

That’s still a silly subtitle for it, but really, we’re all just going to call it Dangan Ronpa, anyway.

    • DesmaX

Well, I think it shows the crazy nature of the game.

      • Jesse

Yeah, that does make some sense.

    • wyrdwad

“Dangan Ronpa” literally translates as something along the lines of “winning an argument with bullets.” So the subtitle does kinda fit.

    • Aristides

They put up that subtitle for marketing reasons. Outside of the hardcore (retailers specifically) will have trouble with just Dangaronpa so they added the subtitle so the title is more approachable and easier to market. Many Japanese games have this predicament.

  • DesmaX

Started playing this weekend, and boy… I don’t remember the last time I’ve been so hooked in a game. It’s an amazing game, and I would love to buy it again

  • Lemon

My biggest question is…will the localized version be dub only? I kinda…can’t imagine an English voice for Monokuma. Especially “upupu~”

    • DesmaX

      It’s NISA. Don’t worry

    • Margaret Chan

According to what I’ve seen “Houk” (who says to be editor on the game), they’re 90% sure it’ll be dual audio

    • DyLaN

Well… they can use the western equivalent of Doraemon as the VA for Monobear…..

    • bassgs435

this is NISA, So it’s a good bet that it will have dual audio

    • supervamp

I doubt theyll dub it at all unless the anime gets one as well

  • Rocket D

I literally can’t wait to be able to play this game. So happy to hear someone heard the cries of a desperate fandom seeking localization. Hope it does well so we can get the sequel.

    • Ferrick

it’s because monokuma wants to cause despair to everyone, especially those outside japan

  • vileBrenman

this gets a super duper high school level localization thanks to nisa.
P.s. I already beat DanganRonpa 1 but I’ll buy the American release in hopes for the sequels localization.

    • Manny Being Manny

“Super Duper High School Fatty” isn’t a very good localization, though.

      • techloveArtist

Looks like it was already a gag from the original Japanese.

      • M’iau M’iaut

So are you actually a fan of the Birds or did you just pick that pic for the obvious joke?

        • Margaret Chan

I don’t even think “Moral Compass” is that great either…

          • techloveArtist

Hall Monitor would have worked actually…a still recognized title.

      • DyLaN

EDIT: Oh its frm the NISA site.

Still acc to this those are the exact title in the early Jap trailer/website so tht means its not the in-game titles.

  • Katboy

I am stoked for this really. Liking the VN love the PSVita seems to be getting of late…good stuff
