MIND≒0 Summons An Oni

By Spencer . July 9, 2013 . 10:51pm

MIND≒0 from Class of Heroes developer Zero Div follows a group of high-schoolers that can summon Mental Inside Nobody Dolls or MINDs for short. Leo Asahina shown in this video calls out an Oni-like MIND to atack monsters. MINDs are strong and have spells, but using your mind drains MP. You can also call out MINDs to use as a shield which protects a character’s LP at the cost of MP.

Not sure what’s going on in MIND≒0? Read this.

MIND≒0 comes out on August 1 for PlayStation Vita.

Judging from the sound and graphics I’m willing to bet that this started as a PSP game and then shifted to Vita.

    • Timovisch

Probably but I hope this game makes the VITA more interresting. :)

    • Lester Paredes

It definitely has that feel. Still, the PSP was capable of pulling off some astounding visuals. Look at Resistance Retribution, God of War Chains and Ghost, Syphon Filter Dark Mirror and Logan’s Shadow, both Dissidia games, Brave story: New Traveller, Daxter, the list goes on… (I really don’t know if it does, I just ran out of titles).

  • Mozendo

It’s nice to see that people still care about first-person dungeon crawlers. I really hope this makes it to the west.

Eh it makes perfect Japanese sense :P

      • Then perhaps it would have been better as a Japanese word, and not an English one…

        • Romancer Ecclesia

Sometimes, that’s the way languages are perceived through a foreigner’s perspective, especially those whose first language isn’t English. Perfect grammar and American sounding names might be culturally incompatible to their own kind. Personally, I do know three to four languages, maybe that’s why the quirkiness of Japanese Engrish appeals to me. :)

          • Trust me, I know the nature of these sorts of incompatibilities: I speak an Asian language natively, and I can speak English like a native. I see these sorts of direct translations and different context of the same term between my mother tongue and English quite often too. At the same time though, I do believe English is a language taught in schools, so I don’t think it’s that hard to come up with something more descriptive. (Like, “Mental” and “Inside”, I kinda get by thinking up synonyms, but what is “Nobody” even supposed to signify?) Although, this may be a case where the term is derived back from the acronym, in which case it’s not a surprise, because even some English-language comic books have that issue with backward acronyms.

Of course, this is just a theoretical argument on my part. In practice, it’s not like this is a serious case or anything.

They couldnt call it Persona thats for sure.

Eh it makes perfect Japanese sense :P

    • DyLaN

To be fair, Japan is not the only place tht mess up the english language…. Over here we pronounce medicine as “meh-di-cine” but I am told tht its pronounce as “med-cine”.

      • Katboy

lol…same here..in my country Nigeria, its pronounced “meh-di-cine”

        • Aha, I’m a native and I pronounce it that way too xD Med-cine just sounds weird, though I catch myself alternating between the two depending on speed of the pronunciation.

    • Strain42

They clearly just wanted it to spell Mind but it just makes no sense…Mental Inside Nobody Dolls…but they’re in the characters, so clearly they’re in someone. Mentally Inserted Nightmare Dolls would have made slightly more sense…but this is a problem one encounters when you’re bent on abbreviations. …imagine if Persona had been an abbreviation.

Hmm… What about Mentally Inside Nobody Dolls?

What’s with the inconsistent 2D artwork?

    • DyLaN

I assume the artist use different style while drawing the sprites/CGs and character art. Tht or there 2 artist working on it.

  • DyLaN

I wonder how Leo walk around the town with a blue monster arm….. Those bandage doesn’t seem to work like the one Suruga (Bakemono) uses… Or its the same logic behind Yu hiding his sword in his school uniform.

There an update in the Characters section in the main page:

Tougetsu Saionji (VA: Kenjiro Tsuda) and wht I assume to be his MIND (or not) ????(VA: ????). Interestingly in the link for ???? profile there the name Hatena.

August 1st? I am thinking in Japan right? or …. :)

    • Only in Japan, yes – as per current information. You can check which regions a post applies to by the flags above the post title.

  • Strain42

My biggest complaint from what I’ve seen of this game is still just the characters facesets. Like the MC at the start of this video…that weird half stoned jaw dropping derp face of his kinda irks me.

  • Heavenly_King

the graphics are very outdated. It looks like first gen PS2 game in HD :(

  • psycho_bandaid

Every time I see that acronym I wonder why they bothered. They could have just called them Mind Dolls. What does it mean? They’re dolls that we create with our minds. This acronym is total gibberish.

  • Lester Paredes

Somebody really wanted to use MIND and an acronym… Mind Inside Nobody Dolls. Wow. lol. It’s like SHIELD! That now off of my chest, I’m crossing my fingers that this makes it across the pond.

  • If this had Persona’s battle models then I would’ve totally loved this game.
