Square Enix Has… A Harem RPG?

By Spencer . July 9, 2013 . 10:25pm

imageLoosely inspired by the Arthurian Legend, Kaku-San-Sei Million Arthur takes place in Britain where you play as Arthur and defend the country from invaders. The game was first released for smartphones and a few months ago it was ported to PlayStation Vita with extra features like voice acting.

With over five million players worldwide, Kaku-San-Sei Million Arthur was one Square Enix’s recent successes and that means Million Arthur is now a franchise. Square Enix just announced a spin-off Yui-Itsu-Sei Million Arthur is based on the same the universe, but this time King Arthur has four beautiful knights with him. Famitsu calls the spinoff a "harem RPG."

Here’s Arthur and Acerola from Yui-Itsu-Sei Million Arthur.

The Kaku-San-Sei Million Arthur team and Kazuma Kamachi, creator of A Certain Magical Index, are working on the game’s story. Yui-Itsu-Sei Million Arthur will be released at the end of July for iPhone, Android and other mobile phones.

The spin-off is also for mobiles? What’s the point of making a spin-off, then?

Anyway, I like this Arthur’s design more than the one from the original game. Looks much more interesting.

Well, who knows. The first is getting a vita port. If it does well, they might decide to port the second too. I think why they decided not to port the spin-off from the get go is because they perceive it to still be too risky.

      • Solomon_Kano

That would make sense, but what I meant is if the spin-off has the same gameplay anyway, then I don’t know why they’d make a spin-off at all, much less on the same platform as the original.

I still prefer the bi female arthur (technosmith) voiced by Satou Rina (not the girlish boy). Much more hilarious. Plus the partner fairy is better (the busty Kitamura Eri-voiced Fey)

…Wait, so, is that 5 y/o with the pink hair supposed to be one of the “harem” knights? Is this game loli-con? (0.O)

    • landlock

Every Harem game/anime has at least one loli.

      • Warboss Aohd

ya say dat like it’z a good fing.

        • landlock

It doesn’t bother me one way or the other tbh.

        • DyLaN

As long as it doesn’t involve any H scenes I’m cool with it.

        • Wappuli

You say it’s a bad thing?

          • Warboss Aohd

they are becoming too reliant on it, eventually people will get bored with it.

    • Wappuli

Doesn’t look so, but it seems that there is atleast some other loli.

Guess this one will have a collaboration of illustrators as well huh?

This Arthur is a lot better looking than those 3 in Kakusei Arthur.
    Kinda reminds me of Kirito.

My first thought, too. Looks so much like a blue-eyed Kirito.

… Wasn’t there supposed to be an Arthurian Otome game?

    • Firekitty

Yeah, Princess Arthur. I don’t think it’s out yet, though.

      • equalequation

It’s been out in Japan for a while. Pretty good from what I’ve heard.

        • Firekitty

That’s good to hear! I was a little worried, because an awesome premise like that could be really neat or really awful…

Really hoping Aksys or someone decides to translate it…I love the Shinsengumi and all, but my life would be complete if I could romance Sir Gawain! Geek that I am, I’ve been a fangirl of his since before I was old enough to know what a fangirl was.

………I bet he has memory loss

  • RisukuAozora

Question is, will SE even publish this overseas? Considering what happened with Bravely Default (where NoE & NoA had to publish it despite having branches in both countries), I hold some doubts that SE would.

  • Aristides

How bout a Vita localization of the first game :P *waits eternity* lol

Funny how this is the current top article and yet there are only 16 comments.
