Battle Princess Of Arcadia Dashes Into Action

By Spencer . July 10, 2013 . 11:54pm

Nippon Ichi and Summon Night 5 developer Felistella Blue Roses developer Apollosoft have a side-scrolling action RPG in the works called Battle Princess of Arcadia. You play as Plume, Princess of the Schwert Kingdom, who faces hordes of monsters to protect her country. Plume will have to cut through hundreds of monsters. Good thing she can find over 900 weapons in the game.

Plume has friends attendants that join her on the battlefield like Larts who uses a bow and Yuni who wields a staff.

Battle Princess of Arcadia is one of Nippon Ichi Software’s 20th anniversary titles and it’s slated for release on September 26 for PlayStation 3.

This is cool and all, but I really want to play as the goose!

  • Go2hell66

Ah can’t wait to get my hands on this!

  • farios

    >Summon Night 5 developer Felistella

The trailer and Google denied all info about this

    • FitzpatrickPhillips

      Its Apollosoft.

    • pekikuubik

Flight-Plan split into Apollosoft and Felistella, so I can see how some people might find this rather confusing.

  • Sentsuizan_93

Surely I cant be the only one who wants to play this so badly. What a way to celebrate 20 years of NIS. This, DD2 and Guided Fate Paradox are on my radar of NIS titles I want

    • Monterossa

      Fairy Fencer F too.

  • EtherealEarth

There seems to be team versus team mode.
I wonder if there would also be co-op mode too.

Would love to play with a friend.

    • Wappuli

Games homepage says it’s 1-player game.

      • ShadowDivz

What about wifi? Over the internet co-op seems possible for this game, since everyone will have their own screen.

        • Wappuli

If number of possible players is different for offline and online it’s usually showed as something like “number of players (online): 1 (2~4)”, for this game the homepage just says “number of players: 1″ which pretty much means that there isn’t multi-player of any sort, versus nor co-op.

  • Demeanor

Looking good, if I were to ask for something it would be an increase in speed, I’d like to have dat Ys feeling to it. ^ ^

  • Monterossa

    Localize, please.

  • Warboss Aohd

gotta say, thought it looked bad when just screenshotz were shown, but da gameplay lookz solid.

  • AndyLC

Wow, this is like a love letter to Princess Crown!

Man, It’s great to see so many 2D action games coming out!!

  • Kelohmello

Woah, I’m really diggin the music in the trailer.
Animation looks weird as hell though…
Still, looks fun! Kind of feels reminiscent of Princess Crown or Odin Sphere except without the Kamitani art.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Like some people have already said, this totally looks like a love letter to Vanillaware’s Princess Crown. I’m definitely interested, and want a localization release date ASAP!

  • Weroth

Felistella? Nope, it’s Apollosoft. Felistella should be busy with Neptune Rebirth for Vita.

NIS’s trailers never do much for me. Need an actual gameplay vid of this before I decide what to do with my money.

  • puchinri

Oh goodness, I need this so bad. >A<

I suppose this is also as close as we'll get to something in similar vein to Little Marl's Kingdom (and stuff like La Pucelle) for quite some time, which is fine since it looks so spiffy~.

The battle system looks fun, and I can't wait to be a hoarder and collect all the weapons and try them out. I'm also really ecstatic about seeing the rest of the world and other characters.

edit : The little OST at the end reminded me. . . is Sato the composer? I was digging the music and noticed it, but now I realize I don’t remember reading anything about who’s composing.

  • Kris

I haven’t been that hyped for a NIS game for a while, but this looks really cool. Here’s hoping it plays as good as it looks and that we get a localization announcement sometime in the near future!

  • Sergio Briceño

Game looks pretty and cool. But the music at the beggining of the trailer made me cry a little as it reminded me of a game that will never see another sequel T_T

  • ShadowDivz

Game looks nice, i would like to see a little more but so far, seems like something i would put in my collection.

  • WyattEpp

Interesting, it looks a bit slower than I was expecting based on the distances and proportions. Everything has a peculiar sort of weight. I wonder if that will be refined before release? I almost have the impression that there’s a bit of latency in the the inputs.

But of greater concern… was that some slowdown? Oh, I do hope they fix that. It was…vexing…in Disgaea 4, but it would be unacceptable in an action game.

  • Göran Isacson

Interesting- the game looks a bit slow, but it’s a consistent “slow”, even with dozens of figures on-screen simultaneously it continues to run at the same speed with little slowdown. Wonder what that can mean for the game and how many enemies it will expect us to handle at the same time- the slowness might be a deliberate choice to let us handle great masses of enemies at the same time, which I do enjoy.

  • blembot4000

i really hope this game is import friendly cuz i doubt it will get loaclized
