Spike Chunsoft, makers of the suspenseful Zero Escape series, ported one of their classic visual novels to Android. Night of the Sickle Weasel or Kamaitachi no Yoru is a murder mystery that takes place in a ski lodge and it later inspired the flow chart in Virtue’s Last Reward.

Earlier this year, Night of the Sickle Weasel was adapted for iOS devices. Now you can get it for Android, but unfortunately it’s still in Japanese.

This probably means the iOS version of 999 will come out for Android in the future too. Aksys said to Siliconera they they will localize the iOS version of 999 which doesn’t have puzzles, but adds in a handy flow chart.

    A damn fine game, this.

Also the sound novels by Pandora Box and Imagineer, whose rights are probably sadly in limbo.

  • Lumi

Wow, didn’t realise the phone port of Night of the Sickle Weasel looks so good. But does it still have the extremely nice looking motion captured human silhouettes?

    • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

      I hope so!

  • malek86

Uhm, I wonder if we’ll get Machi too?

    • Lumi

And after Machi, maybe Otogirisou, Imabikisou, 428 and the rest of the Sickle Weasel series (yes there’s more than one game)

      Well, one can dream..

  • Michael Kelehan

If it comes to the US, I’ll definitely get it right away.

  • Katboy

noice! when this comes to the West, I’ll grab it

  • artemisthemp

Hopefully they release it in EU.

  • Kevadu

“Now you can get it for Android”

No I can’t. All I can get is a message saying it’s not available in my country. These region-locked stores need to go away…

  • benhofb

Hmm, that would be very nice for them to port the 999 iOS version to android. Or even… dare I say… PSM? All whining aside, this is pretty nice. Hopefully “Night of the Sickle Weasel” gets a release outside Japan. That game has always looked interesting to me.

  • Juan Andrés Valencia

Night Of the Sickle Weasel? Please tell me it’s about a psychotic weasel that kills horny teenagers in a house during the night.

  • Cerzel

999 without puzzles? What the hell?
