First Look At Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day, Suda51 X Akira Creator’s PS3 Game

By Spencer . July 15, 2013 . 11:02pm

Short Peace is a series of four short films directed by Katsuhiro Otomo, best known as the creator of Akira. The fifth story, Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day, is a video game designed by No More Heroes and killer7 director Goichi Suda and the director of Tokyo Jungle Yohei Kataoka.

Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day is described as a high-speed action game where you use effects to defeat enemies. The first trailer for Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day fits that description with Ranko sliding through levels and colorful objects popping out whenever an enemy is defeated.

Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day is in development for PlayStation 3.

wow what a colourful looking game, well they definitely have my attention now, can’t wait to see more gameplay

  • Is that Kozaki Yusuke who made the drawings? The way the hair clusters are drawn and colored seems rather familiar.

    • celery

I believe so–he has some Tweets about the game with that main image!

    • Solomon_Kano

      It is indeed.

    • It’s weird; his art style doesn’t exactly have a lot in common with Otomo’s.

      • Juan Andrés Valencia

The men and creatures look similar to Otomo’s though…

    • DyLaN

His name is in the staff list. Plus the familiar “boobs and butt” pose.

      • But a lot – and I mean a lot – of artists use that pose that it doesn’t even count as a stylistic identifier anymore.

  • AkuLord3

Does look really cool and fun, you got my absolute attention :3

The gameplay seems so whacky….whacky enough that i wanna play it badly.

  • SirRichard

Wow, they meant it when they said fast. Figured it’d be a 2D action game, but didn’t expect some Sonic level running.

I can only hope someone throws it this way. Black Knight Sword made it, surely this one could.

  • XiaomuArisu

I have no idea what I saw….I like it

  • Setsu Oh

sooo…is otomo financing akira the 25th birsthday COMPLETE rerelease with that project? i have been wanting the manga ending for the movie since the beginning. now, a 3 movies remake would be nice too.
    see chiyoko animated at last!

  • Aristides

Wow this game would look great on the Vita. I wonder if they’d port it like Sine Mora.

  • Testsubject909

Ah… That looked pretty fun, seems you need to outrun a bunch of green hands though?

  • LazuliteLiamz

This reminds me of the iOS version of Mirror’s Edge. I’ll definitely check this one out, looks awesome!

  • Super intrigued by this. Really hope it gets localized.

  • Sergio Briceño

It’s hard to have a game work in smartphones. You got Angry birds, Temple run, Gravity guy…

Is so hard, developers sometimes mess up and end up making it a PS3 game!

Usually I hate everytime I see a bad smartphone game or one that would have worked if only had it been on console. This time around I don’t understand at all the reasoning behind putting it on console and not in a smartphone… Like, really… Put it on as many consoles as you want, but don’t let it go to waste, it’s perfect for a mobile device!

  • z_merquise

Looks very unique but I hope the game itself is good. The concept and the artwork already made me interested.

  • Chiupon

at first I was excited and now I’m really apprehensive about ittttt.
It looks like a phone game.
    But a good phone game.

  • Romancer Ecclesia

    do want. so pretteh.

  • almostautumn

Anything Suda touches just has that element of “cool.” I mean, colorful shapes exploding in a more monotone setting is really all that’s apart here— except still it brings such a distinct and interesting aptitude to the whole thing.
    God I love Suda.

  • colorblindnightmare

Suda is keeping busy this year it seems. Good for him I love his work, NMH1+2 were awesome and KID looks sweet.

  • Vash bane

    Wow…. that is all
