Miles Edgeworth’s Glasses Aren’t Just For Style In Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies

By Sato . July 23, 2013 . 1:20pm

Miles Edgeworth, who played a prominent role as Phoenix Wright’s main rival in the first three installments of the franchise, will be returning in Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies as a chief prosecutor, eight years after the events of Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations. Scenario director Takeshi Yamazaki talks about the elegant prosecutor in the latest episode of Capcom’s character introduction video series.

In Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies, Miles Edgeworth will be appearing as one of the highest-ranked and most respected prosecutors in the series. According to Yamazaki, the crew have consulted amongst each other to figure out how they can bring out a more mature look in the prosecutor’s return, and have gone through several designs.

In the end, they came up with what the scenario director considers to be a more “gorgeous” look for Miles, having added more details to his design. The addition that stands out the most, however, is the new pair of glasses he’s sporting.

Yamazaki shares that it’s not simply a fashion statement, but something he actually needs now that he’s doing a lot more deskwork as the new chief prosecutor, which they believe is perfectly fitting for his character. He’ll also have new animations to go with his glasses in the upcoming game.

While we still don’t know what role Edgeworth will be playing in Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies, Yamazaki hopes fans look forward to seeing him back in the action.

Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies is slated for release on July 25th in Japan and this Fall in the West on Nintendo 3DS.

Ohh, I totally want to see those new animations of him, and of course what’s his role in all of this.

@Siliconera: I think you skipped Fulbright’s introduction video!

I… I think style was plenty good of a reason.

  • Pockystix

    Lookin’ good Miles.

  • AverageGamers

Seriously, this guy is one of the best thing ever existed in the Ace Attorney series. Too bad his live action actor didn’t live up to his coolness and only made him look like a jerk/douche

  • Neppygear

Edgey with glasses is just too much yes.

Love how Disqus deletes my username and avatar but not my post.

I love that Yamazaki actually thought of details like him needing reading glasses because he’s working more at the desk, while there’s also the symbolic meaning that he’s following in his fathers traces.

      Since he’s also wearing glasses…
However he became a prosecutor unlike him. But the one who follows in Gregory’s steps as a lawyer is rather his disciple fom AAI2

  • Oh… Oh God not again. *nearly faints* I-I can’t… the glasses I can’t take it… *falls on the floor*

Ah, Edgeworth….no matter how much you change, that wonderful smug expression of yours will always remain the same.

Speaking of Edgeworth, one thing that I am particular interested in finding out is whether or not he has confronted Phoenix regarding his disbarment yet. Did Phoenix ever tell him what happened? Heck, were they even in touch all this time?

I have to say, it would be a funny turn of events if Edgeworth confronted Phoenix about his past.

they need to have an hd version of that picture for…viewing purposes! *takes out white dakimakura cover*

Mm… I love Edgeworth and I love guys with glasses, but I don’t think I love them together.
