Mind≒0 Gameplay Video Shows ZeroDiv’s MIND Control RPG In Action

By Sunjun . July 24, 2013 . 3:00pm

4Gamer has shared a 12-minute gameplay video of Acquire and ZeroDiv’s latest Vita RPG. Kicking off the video is the opening movie with the song “Bousou Machine, Mind≒0 Ver.,” performed by yucat.

The story of Mind≒0 is centered around a group of teenagers who can summon familiars called MINDs. Using these familiars, they investigate a deranged spirit world. In the parallel world, you will come across monsters. MINDs are powerful and can defend your characters against these monsters, but if they take too much damage, they will break and leave you paralyzed.

You can fight without your MINDs, too, but your attacks are much weaker and you risk taking damage directly. For more details, check our previous article.

When you’re back in the real world, you can boost your skills at an antique shop called Moment. Apart from that, this video also gives you a preview of two boss monsters and several ominous mystery characters.

Mind≒0 will be released for the PlayStation Vita on August 1.

  • The game let’s you know there’s an enemy with a purple “cat caution” sign??? Awesome? And..,,,,man, Japan should just put a cat on their flag already.

    Game still looks like budget-Persona.

Also, I just want to remind everyone…MIND stands for Mental Inside Nobody Doll. I hope I’m not the only one who giggles at the abbreviation. x)

    • Tenshiken

Their ability to create english acronyms is either a blessing or a curse.

    • Sardorim

As long as the story isn’t bad and the characters are likable I don’t mind that it’s Persona-Lite.

    • Katboy

      I love cats :3

      • they’re hip

  • Surgeon of Death

    Crappy looking Persona clone.

    • LightGenx

      You played it?

    • DyLaN

It look like your standard dungeon crawler turn based JRPG with some modification to the gameplay and those usually are somewht decent. Also have you played the demo/game yet?

    • MrSirFeatherFang

I don’t know what a persona is, but I do know what a stand is :P

      • DyLaN

Stand? I heard tht term a lot frm JoJo articles but wht is it again?

        • MrSirFeatherFang

It’s basically one’s innate power that manifests in the form of something. Usually they look humanoid (arms, legs, head, body, etc.) though the series gets very creative about them as it went on.
It’s basically a persona… there are many rules and lots of info about Stands if you want me to talk about it :D
I like JoJo a lot but I found myself annoying people about it sometimes.

          • DyLaN

I see. But in here, MIND are the denizens of the Crazy Spiritual World if my moonrune deciphering skill is to be trusted. (Correct me if I’m wrong, Jap speakers)

          • MrSirFeatherFang

A Persona is pretty different than a MIND then, if I my definition of a Persona is correct lol

  • TheExile285

    Localize it Gung Ho!

    Edit: a downvote? why….?

    • People suck

    • Smooosh

Oh, that was actually me. o.o
Soz, looks like I accidentally clicked on the downvote arrow. I’d never be against localizations for the vita.

      • TheExile285

        oh, lol. no worries

        • Smooosh

Looks like someone else did that with your two posts now, so the question remains. ô.o

      • Sardorim

You can change your vote to upvote you know. >_>

        • Smooosh

          No s-word sherlock?
Look closely who gave him/her the upvote?

I can’t vote him/her up and down at the same time.

          • Sardorim

No need to be a jerkass.

          • Smooosh

No need to post an unnecessary snazzy remark if the conflict is resolved already either.

  • Smooosh

The music is pretty catchy, but why do the in-battle voices sound so low-quality? It was the same in another trailer, they were fine in dialogues.

    • Malon

      And so do the sound-effect.

    • DyLaN

Frm wht ppl familiar with dungeon crawler says, those are the norms of it.

  • Pedro Furtado

Persona inspired games are nice to have. Although I’m a bit afraid of the gameplay polish in this title. Don’t really wanna play through a grindfest or through long average enemy battles…

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Oh man, pre-ordered yesterday. Can’t wait.

  • Strain42

The fact that this looks so close to Persona is the only reason I’m willing to give it a look (and I know I’m not alone here) but I’ve yet to really see anything about this game that makes me think this looks really good.

Not saying that it looks bad, just nothing has wowed me. Maybe the story will be great. Maybe the characters will be likable. Maybe the gameplay will be tons of fun. I don’t know these things yet.

I guess I’ll just have to wait and find out, but right now (for me anyways) this title is basically coasting as “That Persona-ish looking game that will get you to clean the dust off your Vita” and right now that’s good enough.

    • Warboss Aohd

      ….gotta agree

  • Lost interest at the dungeon-crawling like experience. :/ Looks pretty close to Persona and SMT. Vita needs some more love.

  • Damarius Wingfield

    *Irish accent*: LIMIT BREAKERS OFF!

  • Well I take it this means that Persona 5’s menu wont be Purple.

  • I hope the storyline is great, because the models they used for the battles aren’t, I mean, Mind=0 already looks like a Persona game wannabe, why not just use similar to models to theirs? :/

  • Game looks good =)

    • ShadowDivz

Stop changing your avatar! It makes it hard to recognize you at first glance.

  • DyLaN

Let see… The MINDs are the denizens of the Crazy Spiritual World which can cross over go the normal world through some sort of portals tht connect the both world. Human can also pass through it thus explaining the kamikakushi incidents. They also said something abt human negative emotions affecting something/being affected but I’m not sure wht are they referring to. Finally ppl who formed contract with MINDs are called MIND user. (Again plz correct me if I’m wrong, those who are more fluent in Japanese)

Also there are a couple of updates in the main site most notably 2 new profile in “character” section and a PV for the opposing MINDs user.

The OST for Mind 0 is coming out on 01/08 and the guidebook on 08/08.

There also a batch of wallpapers for Vita owners.

  • Surf

Arts great. Visual style is good, Music sounds promising. From what we know of the plot it sounds interesting. Graphics arent Vita level but their decent. Animations and battle flow? Not to much. You can tell it’s really on a budget. But its not terrible. I’d still play through it if the stories engaging enough

oh shit i saw Yukari and Aigis lol a bit too close to persona the theme that is but if they can pull off a persona feel then i will buy…

  • Neppygear

Egh… the actual game looks, sounds, and probably plays really really “cheap”. You can’t be jacking Persona’s swag without a -little- budget, guys.

  • Demeanor

Argh no! First person dungeon crawling and first person rpg battles in this day and age??? >_> This game couldn’t manage to wow me as a whole, but I must say the art is awesome and the use of 2D images in the menus is amazing, games like Persona 5 (hoping we get some news soon…) should take notes!

  • Katboy

I like the Persona vibe to this…more rpgs to the Vita the better…now for the small matter of we Westerners…. :)

  • れいか

Okay… first thing that came to mind when I saw this… It’s very Persona-esque. I was very hyped for the game but when I saw the gameplay… I am pretty much disappointed. Maybe they will need to polish it more or something… It feels all-over the place.

  • Ex_Vorgier

Oh boy, wow. I knew it sounded like a cheap Persona but this just puts a lid on that thought. And this is on the Vita? It looks absolutely atrocious. They have all that power and yet it’s less presentable than most PS2 games. The audio probably gave me ear cancer. I’ll pass on this one. Thought maybe I could dust the ol’ Vita off for a change.

Hell if I didn’t know better I’d suspect it was made by some Chinese company because that’s where it looks like it could have spawned from.

Edit: Quick search shows that it’s being developed by Aquire. That explains everything. At least the character art is good.

    • DyLaN

By audio you mean the OST or the voice acting? The OST is one of the better part of the game dude… And this certainly looks better than PS2 games… I don’t see TotA looking this nice…
