Killer Is Dead Shows Us Why It’s Rated 18+ In Japan

By Spencer . July 26, 2013 . 2:30pm

Killer is Dead is rated CERO Z a point that Kadokawa Games makes over and over again in this video. Games with a CERO Z rating are kind of like ESRB AO games in North America and have restrictions like actual copies of the game have to be behind counters.

The video also shows Mondo Zappa, the main character, with both of his arms. When you play the game, Mondo has a cybernetic left arm that charges up when he absorbs blood. The cybernetic arm is an interchangable subweapon with a Mega Buster-like Charge Cannon and a Drill.

Killer is Dead comes out next week in Japan. Xseed has the PlayStation 3 game slated for release on August 27.

So his eyes weren’t always red?
Anyways, liking the classical music since the first trailer. Looking forward to this game!

    I’m in love.

  • Beautiful trailer. I simply cannot wait until this is released next month =^_^=

Don’t see what was so 18+ it had to be the subject of the posts title, hope it’s as crazy good as the other suda games.

“Mondo has a cybernetic left arm that charges up when he absorbs blood” So it’s technically a plasma weapon? :|

I’m not worried about this getting an AO rating, since Killer7 got an M rating, even after watching things like Harman being raped by his maid, or the whole Curtis mission (a man who harvested organs from children)

Go search ‘Killer 7 – Goodbye Pedro’ on YouTube

Since when has harvesting organs from children been adult?

Nickolodeon had a schoolful of children missing organs because Zim ripped them out and ate them. And they showed the act. Good ‘ol Invader Zim.

WARNING: This trailer contains the three B’s:

    Blood, Babes, and Beethoven.

  • Andrew A

Did Hideaki Anno direct this trailer?

    • Juan Andrés Valencia

It’s missing his trademark images (Real life footage of a woman walking around Tokyo with a bag and an umbrella, an animation of a piano playing itself and annoyingly fast editing during the weird scenes).

Lollipop chainsaw was rated Z too, but that was more cartoony or comic-ish (and deals w/ zombies) like No More Heroes. I like the more realistic look here.. it’s still confusing how the censoring works even for Cero Z games in Jpn though, sometimes stuffs are left intact in one game but censored in others..

It does look like an Anno directed trailer w/ the classical music and kanji flashing across the screen :) So happy we’re getting a superior edition in terms of bonus compared to Jpn. The cover is awesome too (guess the moon would play a huge part in the story), Lollipop Chainsaw’s US cover was awful :(..

Guess the reason for AO is the Unicorn

  • Kazuma Kazzie Kaz Kaz

This game can fuck off into my PS3.

Did anyone else see that unicorn? This game is going to be crazy. Hopefully with more content/replay value than some of this other games.
