Nintendo Registers New Trademark For Eternal Darkness, Covers Digital Distribution

imagePrecursor Games is restarting their crowdfunding for a spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness. Meanwhile, Nintendo did something with Eternal Darkness. A new trademark for the horror game was registered in the United States.

The key difference in this trademark is it includes "downloadable electronic game programs" and "downloadable electronic game software." Perhaps, Nintendo is covering their bases just in case they want to release a Virtual Console version for Wii U someday.

Here’s the trademark Nintendo filed in 2010.

Wow. I still remember when I was in middle school playing this on the GameCube. I remember I was SOOOOOOO scared I literally couldn’t sleep well at night (at that age) after a session with the game. Memories!

  • MrSirFeatherFang

Cool. Hopefully there will be GCN downloads. I would like it if Cubivore can be on there… it’s really rare (and published by Atlus! People here like Atlus)

Gamecube VC would be godly. Never had one, so there’s lots of stuff I’d like to see put up.

  • brian

Yeah, it probably is a VC release, that way they can promote each other.

    This… IS… really… happening!!!!

  • dragoon_slayer12

Gamecube VC on WiiU or 3ds (please make that happen), thank you. Hopefully PSO makes it in

  • Raltrios

I only just beat that game last year. Didn’t feel like bothering with the newgame+ for the true ending, though.

  • Tom

I have this game but I haven’t played it yet. Good thing the Wii is backwards compatible with ALL GC titles that use regular controller.

  • I really hope it’s a VC release for Wii U!!!!

or dare I dream, HD release?
