Toukiden Sells Strong, Tecmo Koei’s Profits Are Up

By Spencer . July 29, 2013 . 11:10pm

toukidenTecmo Koei reported a positive gain for the first quarter of this fiscal year. The publisher behind Dynasty Warriors had 6.5 billion yen in sales, up 10.9% compared to the previous fiscal year. Altogether, Tecmo Koei posted a net profit of 938 million yen ($9.6 million USD).

Toukiden, a hunting game with Japanese mythological creatures for PSP and PlayStation Vita, sold strong with 300,000 units since its launch on June 27. Toukiden will be released in North America for PlayStation Vita. Sales for Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky and Winning Post 7 2013 for PlayStation Vita were favorable. Repeat shipments and downloadable content sales were good too.

Tecmo Koei also said that they surpassed 24 million registered users for online and social games. Their line up includes Dynasty Warriors for One Million People and AKB48’s Ambition – yeah that’s a pun from Nobunaga’s Ambition.

    • Altin

If so, they better make sure to add more awesome weapons. I would like me some Naginata!

      • ShadowDivz

There’s no Naginata in the game?
        *sad face*

        • Altin

Well there are Spears in the game. Maybe they will add some spear which looks like a Naginata, but it’s not the same thing. That’s what I loved about MonHun too though. There were Long Swords which were actually Scythes – that was awesome :D

    • Fango

lol…. yeah, right. They are just going to pull a capcom and release a slightly updated version of toukiden 1. pretty much all the other hunting action games, besides soul sacrifice, are following this trend.

  • Spider-Man

Gonna support this baby once it releases here.

  • ishyg

I kind of not see what’s up with the Toukiden demo, it’s like Monster Hunter, but more medieval and with auto-lock. Though I think it’s more of the language barrier, might get it if it’s localized.

  • Raze

    That’s pretty nice

    Atelier Warrior next year then?

  • Judgephoenix
