shinobi3Sega is continuing their series of 3D classics with Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master aka The Super Shinobi II in Japan. The 3DS port, 3D Shinobi III, has stereoscopic 3DS visuals, a quicksave feature, round select, and an option to play either the Japanese or English version.

The options menu also has a direct control mode which gives players five buttons to control Joe Musashi instead of three. The buttons are for jump, close range attack, shuriken attack, defend, and ninjutsu. The original game only has three buttons for jump, attack, and ninjutsu.

3D Shinobi III will be available on August 7 for 600 yen ($6).

  • 3D Shinobi III. What an awesome title.

  • Of course Japan gets the option to play either region’s version while the US continues to get nothing.

Enough with your empty promises, Sega. Put up these games on the US eShop, or shut the hell up about them!

“Of course Japan gets the option to play either region’s version”

What do you mean by this? Are Japanese 3DSes region-free? Or are you talking about the eShop content?

    • O.O

the internet has no respect for sega anymore lmao

The five-buttons mode sounds a lot like the 3DS version, just without the grappling hook.

This makes me wonder, how did you defend or throw shurikens in the original game?

    • ddh819

i think if you hold the attack button down, you would defend, and using a sword or shuriken depended on if an enemy was close to you or not

Interesting. WOnder what it will do for the game balance though, if it will just make it better through becoming less stressing on the fingers, or if some of the charm will go away for that exact reason…
