By Spencer . August 1, 2013 . 12:48am

imageSquare Enix is rearranging Final Fantasy X’s music along with remastering the game. Jump Magazine announced there will be about 60 songs rearranged by composer Masashi Hamauzu for Final Fantasy X. The magazine didn’t say if songs from Final Fantasy X-2 will be rearranged or if there will be an option to listen to the original music.

Both games in Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will have trophies. Specific trophies weren’t revealed, but the magazine said getting a platinum trophy would be difficult.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster is slated for release this year on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

that is pretty cool, this will definitely make the game worth playing through again

  • Rentekabond

Unfortunately, I’ll probably never platinum this game, as I can’t be asked to dodge 100 Lightning bolts in a row.

    Who am I kidding, I’m a total trophy whore…

    • Adriaan den Ouden

I think getting a perfect 100% complete game in FFX-2 would be a much bigger challenge.

      • AnimusVox

I did but damn it was NOT easy, only because o the fights underground the new Yevon temple.

        • Randy Marsh

Ha Via Infinito has nothing on getting all the monster endings and defeating Major Numerous in X-2 International.

        • OneOkami

I remember that area and an optional boss fight out in a desert area that seemed to take at LEAST an hour to defeat being the two major challenges for my perfect completion. Don’t remember the name of the boss but I remember it had multiple components continually hit you with a plethora of status ailments.

          • Riseabovethesky

If I remember correctly I used a strategy I found in the official guide that had something to do with the alchemist job. He was really easy that way.

          • Testsubject909

All I remember for the optional bosses was exploiting the easy max 9999 x however often you can mash the trigger button for 3 seconds x 3 characters trick.

          • Randy Marsh

Easy max 9999 won’t be possible in this version of X-2 unfortunately.

        • Sim

          Cat nip Kappa.

        • Testsubject909

          It’s not worth it.

Seriously 100% is not worth it. The story reward is not worth your time. PS. Not a big fan of Tidus to begin with so my opinion is colored.

        • Storm

I got 100% without even doing Sphere Break or the Yevon Temple fights, because it’s possible to get “extra” percent by making different choices in the NG+ than you did in your first playthrough. The most major one being who you give the awesome sphere to.

    • Actually, I think it’s 200 lightning bolts.

Better drink some coffee before you try.

      • roydgriffin

I got hit by the 167th bolt.

I never tried it again ever since. X’D

        • Musashi234

I got hit by 195……I got to nervous………Ive never cursed so much in my life.

          • Thrasher429

I know exactly how you feel my phone rang right as I was about to dodge my 192nd, scared the hell out of me and i stuffed it and to make things worse it was a telemarketer….I wanted to reach through the phone and hurt that person so much

          • zaidandzhadow

ohh crap i hate those kind of moments

    • Kefkiroth

There’s a certain spot in the Thunder Plains where the lightning always strikes.

If they fixed that in the HD remaster, we’re doomed.

      • pressstart

No HDTV lag compensation would be the true killer.

  • AnimusVox

    Difficult to get platinum trophy?
    I accept Square Enix.

    • Wappuli

I just hope it isn’t something like Star Ocean 4.

      • abysswalker

Honestly… I think that game is one of the top 5 most difficult games to achieve 100%. It’s one of the first games that opened my eyes and helped me realize 100% every game I play is just insane. The game however is amazing.

        • Testsubject909

Why would you anyways? First you’d need to suffer through that brain busting stupid story (I hate you useless AE event) and then you’d need to suffer some more with the gameplay that feels like it took one step forward and two or three steps back compared to Star Ocean 3…

          • abysswalker

Well I haven’t played SO3 but would love to. Do you know if it’s available digitally?

      • Hinataharem

        “Star Ocean 4”

  • Suriel Cruz

It almost sounds like a NEW Final Fantasy… 30 minutes of NEW drama, songs arrangements, trophies, better graphics… What’s next?!… Summon’s DLC or DLC scenario?… What I need is a date, so I can save for it.
What a great way to play a Final Fantasy I’ve never get to finish. ^ ^

    • Detrimont

a destroyed Fayth temple in the thunder plains that’s long been forgotten or something would be awesome

  • Monterossa

Great! I love the original soundtracks but they’re lack of instrument amount. they sounded like they only have one or two instruments per song. now with Hamauzu I expect them to have more violin sound.

  • EvE

  • Romancer Ecclesia

    difficult=no sphere grid challenge

  • kenshee

Well, I’ll be cautiously optimistic about this.
I’ve been sold on this remaster since the day it was announced, but I do hope they include the original music as an option…

I know it’s mostly just my nostalgia talking, but I’ve grown very fond of how video game music with its limitations tended to sound.
The more instruments come into play and the less synth, the more it starts to sound like regular music, and I lose interest :/

But eh, I’m probably weird for having such fears.

    • Ric Vazquez

I agree on the option of having the original music too, Nobuo Uematsu ftw.

  • NightzeroAX

This is great news. I’m a big fan of Hamauzu.

    • Ric Vazquez

Me too but I prefer Uematsu

  • RovCal

what does sound arrangement mean? music has been redone?

    • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

Some tracks might be modified thanks to the new hardware. It already happened with Kingdom Hearts HD.

    • Haseyo

Think of how many songs in Dissidia / Dissidia Duodecim were modified. That’s what arranged means.

You can also refer to “Sexified.”

  • Saulo Da Silva Batista

The asian version for both PS Vita and PS3 is slated for October, according to PlayAsia. It makes sense, since Lightning Returns is going to be released on november. Probably the Final Fantasy X save file will work for Lightning Returns in order to make available the Yuna costume.

  • YUNA: (Starts singing) What can I do for you?

ME: You can get these games out to me as soon as possible =^_^=

    • heartless141

      it’s not yuna though :3

      • Testsubject909

Don’t worry. You get to mercilessly beat her up and then leave her dangling off a cliff soon thereafter.

        • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

          What a hero

      • Lol

  • Grape Monet

This is EXACTLY what I was hoping for. Not just new arrangements, but Masashi Hamauzu at the helm.

  • Skye Johnson

I’ll be interested to hear the new music, though I’m really fond of the original soundtrack just how it is. So here’s hoping the new arrangements will preserve everything great about it! Look forward to listening.

    • Testsubject909

*looks down at the comment section*

Speaking of dodging lightning… Why the hell did they choose to hold the concert there?

Dramatic visuals I’m guessing… Or free electricity for them amps maybe?

      • Skye Johnson

Or both. But the world may never know.

    • Ric Vazquez

      Nobuo Uematsu original music ftw

  • Earning a Platinum probably involves getting all the legendary weapons, which means no sane person will ever do it.

    • Nightmare637

Good thing I’m not sane. :)

      come at me Lightning.

      • If you were sane when you started, you won’t be by the time you’re done.

    • Wappuli

I dont remember getting them to be that bad, except Wakkas sigil, and maybe Kimahris.

      • And Lulu’s (lightning bolt dodger). And Tidus’s (chocobo “racing”).

  • Nightmare637

all I need is a release date and I’ll be happy, and I can get my schedule in order.

  • James

I can’t wait for these trophies.

  • Testsubject909

Now my question is which version of Thousand Words are they going to use?

Because the cinematics for the Eng and JP versions do differ. Time to play: Spot the difference!

    • Testsubject909

Hell. On the English version. Which version are they going to use? Or are they going to make a whole new one?

And since the cinematics are different for English and Japanese version. Will there be a Dual Audio option? If so, will we have both cinematics?

    • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

I think the International version chose the English song. Well, that’s what every Int version does.

      • Haseyo

I hope it stays as the English version. 1000 no Kotoba by Koda Kumi is nice but I really enjoy 1000 Words by Jade more. I’m sure people will throw the “original is always better” argument but I really don’t care what everyone else thinks; just my feel on things.

  • H_Floyd

New arrangements?! Masashi Hamauzu?! 60 tracks?!

Grr… now I actually have to care about this game.

  • Armyofoneix

    could we expect dissidia arrangements???

  • SiliconNooB

Better give me the option to use the original tracks, otherwise this is a dealbreaker.

  • My god I can’t wait to relive those moments in FFX since its actually my first FF game that my former friend from high school introduced me to heck he also introduced me to Suikoden series when he bought me a copy of III as a gift. Anyways I can’t wait to play this again with Trophies and the chance to tackle the Dark Aeons and Penance. Happiness is a Place on Earth ^_^

  • TheExile285

Are we ever getting a release date?

  • whatinthewolrd

Getting 100% in FFX-2 is not that difficult, just read a list of missables online. Now FFX… yeah I cant dodge lightning bolts for an hour…. ugh I wont be getting the platinum for FFX lol

    • yellowmage

Not with that attitude! You gotta suck it up! Maybe the new coat of paint will help with the timing somehow.

  • protofox

but…the original ost to ffx was beautiful..dont change, rearrange, edit the soundtrack…-crys-

  • Ric Vazquez

I want Nobuo Uematsu’s original music for the game T.T

  • Lolita

I don’t mind new arrangements if they decide to also include the option to switch between the original and arrangements. My reason for this is for the nostalgia factor.

  • Bloodios

There better a way to switch back to the original arrangement (like the PSP version of Persona 2) otherwise… just don’t fuck up Hamauzu. I don’t want it ending up becoming some bullshit like how the PSP version of Persona turned out to be…

  • new_tradition

Oh whoa, I honestly didn’t expect new arrangements! Pretty stoked. The oldies will always be goodies, but I’m curious what they decide to change up ^^

First KH 1.5 ReMIX, and now this? S-E really is setting the bar when it comes to HD remasters =D

just dont mess with otherworld and aruron’s theme and no one has to get tsukuyomi’d

  • Chao Thao

I love kilikas theme, idk why o.o
