Sengoku Basara 4 Reveals Three More New Characters

By Sato . August 2, 2013 . 2:35pm

Sengoku Basara 4 will take place in a parallel world of the Muromachi era, which was considered to be the making of the Sengoku era in the history of feudal Japan. We recently got a look at three new characters in Katsuie, Ashikaga, and Sakon, who will be making their series debut in the game. Now, Capcom have shared a peek at another three new characters on their official website.

Starting from the left, we have Yamanaka Shikanosuke, who was also known as Yamanaka Yukimori, and was originally a samurai of the Sengoku era in Japanese history. His distinct antler-like headgear goes with the “shika” in his surname, whch means Deer in Japanese.

In the middle is Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the man Ishida Mitsunari has nothing but great respect for, and would do anything to help him and his army out, for the greater cause.

Finally, to the right is Takenaka Shigeharu. In Japanese history, Takenaka managed to impress Toyotomi with his spectacular tactics in taking over a clan and was invited to join his forces as a strategist. It has yet to be revealed as to what kind of roles the three characters will serve Sengoku Basara 4; however, Capcom will be revealing more details regarding the new characters, sometime next week.

Meanwhile, you can check out the game’s latest trailer, here.

Sengoku Basara 4 is slated for release in early 2014 for PlayStation 3.

Wait, so… I understand that some sort of parallel universe time magic is what causes the SB3 people to be alive in the Muromachi era, but how are cannonically dead characters in both timelines going to appear in SB4???

    • KuroNathan

Magic. Its always magic. Infinite universes out there, one of them has to have a living version of them. After all the SB universe had a hondam.

    • Brandonmkii

Pretty sure it’s been said that 4 is a prequel to 3.

      • Vadim Merzhey

        It’s prequel to 1 actually.

  • The character on the right is Takenaka Hanbei, not Shigeharu. And still, Kasuga not playable… Seriously Capcom…

    • Gojira Twit

      Same person.

    • Eileen Sy

      Takenaka Shigeharu is Hanbei.

    • Chiupon

Sengoku Basara is mainly a “girl’s game” in Japan. Like it attracts a lot of female gamers because it’s filled with bishounen. Lots of BL is born from it and whatnot — It’s unfortunate, but they’re going to prioritize male characters over females/new females because the more bishounen = the more sales

    • Aunna Terrell

Just like now, people changed their names (Motonari Mori’s name was Shōjumaru but later changed to Motonari). Shigeharu IS Hanbei, like Gojiro and Eileen said below.

      • I see, this is misleading. I knew many characters from this era have différent names, but not Hanbei. Didn’t know either the game was aimed at girls, i liked ep 3.

    • brian

Kasuga was playable in the first game.

  • Brandonmkii

Alright, now we just need Azai to return and I’ll be the happiest guy ever.

  • Sardorim

We could use Ina and her hubby, Yukimaru’s bro.

    • Rayhan PromisedGallery

      Inahime will be… female robot

  • Learii

where Tadakatsu Honda and yukimura sanada

  • courte

    when’s Onimusha?

    • Strid

Probably better to let it rest than end up a mobile game, which seems to be their thing anymore. I’m going through the series again right now, just finished the first last night and started 2 this morning… Capcom used to be so great.

      • courte

        sad for life

    • Would be cool if they added Samanosuke or Jubei as bonus characters to Sengoku.

  • Bakuryukun

I’d be interested to see Tachibana Ginchiyo considering how Muneshige turned out haha.

  • Testament

Yes finally, Hideyoshi Toyotomi and Takenaka Hanbei are back. Along with A new character. I wish they would bring back Nagamasa Azai. and Oichi as well. I would like to see Aya Uesugi, Maybe even Matsunaga Hisahide.

    • Duo Maxwell

Didn’t we already have Oichi from Basara 3, or am I missing something here?

      • Testament

Yeah we did. But Nagamasa Azai, without Oichi would be tragic T_T

  • Neppygear

Wait, this is a prequel? Does that mean no more sexy Ieyasu? Because that would be the bummer to end all bummers.

    • Aunna Terrell

I’m pretty sure that the Mitsunari part of the story (since it delves into his days under Hideyoshi) should have sexy!Ieyasu there. They were suppose to be friends and then became enemies after sexy!Ieyasu defeated Hideyoshi. If he’ll be playable or not, depends on Capcom. But they’re still announcing characters, so it’ll be a while.

Why is nearly everyone getting the setting of this game wrong? It’s set at the end of the Muromachi period, which is the beginning of the Sengoku period. It’s not a prequel; it’s an AU of an AU.

Please read this: It is much more accurate and clarifies misunderstandings about the game.

Why aren’t more of these games localized overseas?
