Kissing RPG Exstetra’s Latest Character Is A Skilled Swordsman

While we’ve seen stranger RPGs that require you to make children in order to save the world, Unchained Blades makers, FuRyu, gives them a run for their money with Exstetra, an upcoming PlayStation Vita and 3DS RPG that requires you to kiss others in order to unlock their hidden powers to save the world.

The latest information on the game features a new character.

Prior to being summoned to Amasia and having his powers awakened as a Prisma Knight, Jin was a young swordsman with monster fighting experience under his belt. He used to be part of a kendo club, and even participated in interscholastic tournaments. Jin is skilled in the arts of war and peace, but he can be a little obstinate at times.

Before meeting Exstetra’s main character Ryoma, Jin was able to take care of himself using his own skills; however, after being saved by Ryoma and the others, he had awakened to his powers as a Prisma Knight.

Although he has his powers awakened as a Prisma Knight, Jin still can’t seem to lower his guard when he’s around Ryoma and the others.

Jin’s “Illusion Flash Slash” shows an illusion of himself, as he attacks enemies using his high speed. Jin will have many other sword-based skills, demonstrating his excellent skills as a swordsman.

Exstetra is slated for release on October 17th for Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita.

I want this jrpg so much, jin seems so amazing already.

  • Milla

This game… well atleast Jin is hawt <3

  • Steven Higgins

Woah, so Ryoma has to kiss 2 guys.

    • Sardorim

It’s just a kiss… Unless you have to use your tongue too and stuff.

Than it may be awkward depending upon your sexual preference.

      • Shady Shariest

it would make it up if one of them was french,in my book… A little jokey :)

      • Steven Higgins

Well, usually these things require an exchange of genetic material, like in Sekirei. So he probably does have to use tongue

    • GH56734

      It’s hardly a novelty.

Chulip is an PS2 JRPG, available in English, all about kissing other (unattractive) people, be it men or women. It also used toilet closets as save points. The team behind it, Love-De-Lic, had many other quirky RPGs like Moon for PS1 (about two parallel worlds, one being a videogame), and L.O.L for the Dreamcast where a button is dedicated for… pissing (as does the Japan-only Doshin N64 add-on content … maybe that’s why we have the “Maaario” button in the later-released Luigi Mansion?).

Most recently, family-friendly Nintendo had a minigame in WarioWare Snapped (DSi) about kissing (with both genders, no less).

Conception is more intriguing imo in its original… um, ‘concept’. Also that game about getting the legendary curry as the ultimate goal. But nothing surpass Tengai Makyou 4, which is essentially Earthbound on crack.

    • AnimusVox

Oh so he has to kiss, not only girls, but guys too? I thought he just had to kiss the long haired brunette lass.
Not that I have any qualms with that whatsoever since I’m a homosexual myself. I just didn’t know thats how it was in this game.

  • harmonyworld

    So….I can kiss him?

  • Import or wait and see… Hmmm…

    • Firekitty

It makes me sad thinking how slim the chances of this getting a translation are. I guess I’m gonna have to start saving for a Japanese 3DS.

      • Yeah. If I had the funds I would think about importing a 3DS myself haha. I don’t have the Vita yet. It’s in my plans but not anytime soon (> _< )

  • Highasthesky

I’m not gay but, i can’t even blame the protagonist with this one.

    • Karmistral

  • Ric Vazquez

Kiss another 2 men in an JRPG?! HELL-TO-THE-NO

  • Aaaand… nothing for me yet :C . I want a female MC (I Don’t like yaoi and that stuff ) but watever, I pass

    • harmonyworld

FemC and to be able to kiss the ladies~
That’d make me very very happy!

      • looks like we’re in the same boat xD I’m ok with soft Yuri

    • ChiffonCake

This would increase my interest in this game ten-fold.

      • Time Sage

        And lower mine :

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

Yaoi RPG? on The 3DS?! Does it come in manly pink?

    • It’s funny when you think about how pink was originally a colour assigned to boys while pale blue was considered a girl’s colour. It’s only been switched around within the last hundred years and nobody really knows why.. XD

      • equalequation

It changed because before that, the manly quality was passion, courage, warmth, valor, and the womanly quality was quietness, demuredness and gentleness.

In recent years women were re-associated with ‘being emotional’ and men with ‘being logical’, after we started getting the industrialization got going and there was a thought movement that reason is the best of all qualities and emotions are for sissies who can’t reason. Obviously I exaggerate, but that’s the main reason for the switch.

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

Screw the Norm that’s why. Hey you Animal Crosser?

    • Firekitty

Even better; it’s looking like an RPG for both yaoi AND het fans.

Now all it needs is the option to choose a female main character to do the kissing and everyone can be happy.

  • leingod

Guess Jin’s gonna have to manage without his hidden powers on my playthrough :P

  • Kevin Schwarz

Not the game for me, that’s for sure, it’s awkward.

    • Firekitty

      Why do you say that?

    • Time Sage

Not sure if I should be offended,,,

  • equalequation

I’m going to wait and see how far they take this before I buy. If they’re just baiting, eh, sorry, I’ve had enough of male fanservice that only begrudgingly gives girls little bones to work on in a desperate attempt to increase sales, original vision or no—mostly because it tends to have atrocious writing then. Even more atrocious than usual. If it turns out that they’re serious—-DAY ONE PLZ. They’ve already broken my expectations by having a second dude and also featuring them dudes in advertisements, which is a surefire way to make your sales numbers capricious to a particular crowd. That’s a lot of risk to take on (angering the neckbeard crowd in Japan is playing with fire) just to be lolz about it, so I’m definitely watching this.

Will need more info on how the actual systems work, but I can see why they’d want to keep that under wraps atm.

  • fireemblembeast

    “Kissing RPG”?
    You could at least *try* to make me sound like less of a pervert for wanting this… >_>;
(I wonder if Jin and Ryoma kissed….there is an elephant in the room)

  • Solomon_Kano

Looks like MC’s got a couple of men, then. No discrimination in this harem~

    • All are welcome? That should be a sign.

  • wererat42

Haven’t seen any screenshots of Ryoma kissing guys. I’m going to assume they’re
not showing them before release just in case they think it might hurt sales.

  • celery

I give him 10/10 would kiss again

  • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

    This isn’t Chulip

  • BenderIsGreat

What if I just steal his wallet and punch him in the scrote instead? That would activate something super, right?

  • schwarzmasa

I have to admit…my interest is piqued now. Are they actually trying to gain the fujoshi audience? Awesome if so, and would buy simply to support such a move.

  • mintea

OnoYu! Haha, he’s everywhere lately. And no, I’m not complaining :>
