Tetris Monsters Is Tetris Remade As A Puzzle & Dragons Style RPG

Plenty of companies have been trying to replicate GungHo Online Entertainment’s breakout success with Puzzle & Dragons. Puzzle meets monster battling RPG is practically its own genre now.

Puzzle & Dragons is still the king, but Electronic Arts might give them a run for their money with Tetris Monsters. The game is exactly what it sounds like –  a monster collecting game with Tetris instead of a match three gem board.

Tetris Monsters is slated for release this summer in Japan for iOS devices.

… I hate Electronic Arts. I am still mad at them for what they did to most of the Westwood’s old franchise. Regardless, I do like Tetris, so I may give this a try. IF it’s free, which it won’t be, so…

So this is what they got Bioware doing now?

    • hazelnut1112

Not enough romance shipping for this to be considered a proper Bioware game.

      • Ferofax

Are you kidding me? The blocks fit to a T. How much more romance do you need?

    Words fail me.

I want to say that this is the most pointless thing ever, but I did sort of enjoy the battle themeification (I made up a word!) of Gliere’s Russian Sailor’s Dance.

    This sounds awesome!!!!!!

    • Ferofax

…I’m starting to reassess the meaning of the word.

It could be fun but it is kinda wasted on iOS devices, the whole point of Tetris is that it’s at least possible to get this good which seems pretty impossible on touch devices: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQOswiAGLU4

Well maaybe on an iPad if they have a good control scheme going i guess, like touch one of 4 buttons on top depending on which rotation you want, and then touch where it lands with another hand

    • KuroNathan

Yeah that was the most obvious issue I saw with this idea, controlling tetris without some sort of keypad or physical buttons is a pain

  • echokanon

I see Sunaho Tobe’s character design

  • hazelnut1112

Weird concept, but seems interesting. Only thing turning me away from this is the EA logo.

  • CirnoLakes

    >moe tetris
    Yes.
    >EA
    NO.
    >Mobile
    NO.
