ss08Falcom’s upcoming RPG The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Flash is set in Thors Academy, a prestigious military school in the Erebonian Empire.

As a member of Class VII, you will take part in school activities, including history lectures, military training, and home ec.

During a lecture, the instructor may suddenly ask you a question to test your knowledge. If you answer correctly, your evaluation will go up.

Based on how fun TiTS FC and SC are, I’m fairly confidant this will be fun too (I’ll be honest, I can’t think of a reason why I wouldn’t buy it). I’m curious about the length of this game considering its the first time Falcom is making a 3D LoH.

    • Slayven19

I’ve heard its the longest in the series as far as story. Might be gameplay as well because of all the replay value they are giving us.

  • Warukyure

“During a lecture, the instructor may suddenly ask you a question to test your knowledge. If you answer correctly, your evaluation will go up.”

Will this help me with my Social Links? Can I make stronger Personas too?!

    • Crimson_Cloud

The real question is can you deepen the relationship with your team mates. ;P

      • Slayven19

Well they did mention that you can as this does have a bond system :).

        • Crimson_Cloud

Really? Thanks for the info, mate. ^^

          • Slayven19

Yep, its even on one of the siliconera articles from not long ago.

    • Chris Yuen

“Laura appreciates you! Your expression has increased!”

      • Anime10121

God I hope so (though its unfortunately extremely unlikely)!

    • Tom_Phoenix

Of course not. Your Knowledge will go up, obviously!

    • (Facepalm) I hate you lol =P

    • MrTyrant

Can I date future waifus? even the female teachers?

  • Slayven19

I’m loving all this. As cliche/overused as some people like to say the highschool settings is we never get to do things like this in almost any games. Its overused in anime sure but there aren’t many jrpg’s that actually use it especially in this way. Like persona I’d say this is a school setting done right and it looks like there’s so much more to do than even persona’s take on it :D.

Besides Its not like any of the other game didn’t have a cliche setting. It shouldn’t matter weather its been done to death, it should matter how can this developer use the same settings and make it different/better.

    • ShadowDivz

Agreed! Although i would have used the word “overkill”. Because it seriously is in anime.

There;s a difference between watching some dude in highschool making a harem and BEING that dude in highschool making a harem a la Persona.

      • Slayven19

Yeah, maybe I could have used a better word but that’s what you guys are there for. Ya know to give a helping hand when a friend needs help :D.

  • DesmaX

All the questions the teachers are going to ask are stuff you’re supossed to know from previous games

  • Zharkiel

For once I’m glad we’re not getting this game.
I don’t know about everyone else, but my high school days were a long time ago, and I have no desire to revive them, much less in a game.

So forgive me if I’m not as excited as some of you for answering to trivia and attending swimming lessons.

    • ShadowDivz

      Aww, were they not enjoyable?

But seriously, it’s understandable. Your not gonna be able to enjoy the game if you can’t enjoy the highschool setting.

      • Zharkiel

They were decent, had my ups and downs just like everyone else.

But I don’t like mixing reality with games, much less something so trite as high school life. I understand there’s a demand for these kind of games, but I’m just not part of that audience.

        • ShadowDivz

Again understandable, but you must dislike alot of recent anime then. xD

    • Crimson_Cloud

Seriously…? I don’t like it hence none should play it? If you don’t like it, then don’t buy it. There are others who will enjoy.

      • Zharkiel

        Not quite.
The game is obviously never making it across the pond, there are plenty of reasons for me wanting to play this game, but this isn’t one of them.

Nowhere in my post did I imply that just because I don’t like a feature no one else should enjoy it.

        • ShadowDivz

For once I’m glad we’re not getting this game.
Sorry but that line actually implies you do.

          • Zharkiel

We’re not getting it, so I thought I could safely post that without getting people’s feathers rustled.

Seriously, I never implied that just because I don’t like the highschool dating sim aspects no one else should play it. That was definitively not my intention.

        • Slayven19

Yeah there has been way to many this game is never making it across the pond post that have made it across the pond for you to say it has no chance to make it. Fans outcry is what matters and that has been proven with many impossible things.

          • Zharkiel

I still don’t see Tenkai Makyou in english, and trust me boy, back in the day there was a lot of noise around it.

Look, I’ve asked around, you mention Kiseki to fantranslators and publishers alike and they’ll all be getting the fuck out of the room. xseed thought themselves ballsy enough to bring it over, and to this day they’re still struggling to release the second game, out of five… soon to be 6. And after they release that (If they ever do) there’s a huge question mark, because the further they go, the harder it’ll get to translate these games, and at their pace, by the time they reach Sen, the PS3 will be a relic of the past and who the hell knows how the vita will be doing.

And don’t even try to bring “But they can do Sen and then go back to the rest of the series” Because in that case I’m done with you here, you don’t want kiseki, you just want some new flashy game that looks like some cute anime. XSEED has someone in charge that knows what’s up with this series, and he knows that you can’t just skip 4 games in the saga to bring the flashy (pun not intended) new one.

  • dahuuuundge

    we Persona 3 now

  • ShadowDivz

This honestly sounds pretty fun. I like the “highschool activities” thing in games(like persona)

But this really just reminds me of mana khemia….
A game to which i really want a third.

    • Arcana Wiz

me too, sadly Gust dont re-visit their their franchises, only remake them, so the best we can hope it’s a remake, but mana khemia and Atelier iris weren’t well received in Japan

      • ShadowDivz

Inconcivable! every person i know who played mana khemia loved it. *sigh( atleast my friend has the 2nd one.
Is ar tonelico qoga really the last AT? It’s the first one i played and i really enjoyed it.
Only to discover it was the end really hurt.

        • DesmaX

Yeah, AT3 was the last one, and it got into licensing hell too, so no ports or anything

          • ShadowDivz

          • Crimson_Cloud

            Double aww… :/

        • Crimson_Cloud

It is indeed a shame that the 3rd Mana Khemia was never made. I adore the first one. And also, sorry but I have to put this here… : 3

          • Arcana Wiz

yeah but gust had a pattern os 2-3 games for franchise and mana khemia did follow the rule.

        • Arcana Wiz

Ar tonelico it’s…. complicated, the AT series aren’t part of the atelier series: Every atelier series have a a number: Atelier iris1 was A6, Mana Khemia 1 was A9, Atelier Rorona was 11… But ar tonelico series were AT1, AT2 and AT3, so it hints a franchise like atelier series, but every triology/duo in a different time and land like with Rorona and Ayesha. BUT Ar tonelico situation like DesmaX said it’s in a licensing hell….

          • ShadowDivz

            really? license hell? why?

          • M’iau M’iaut

Someone else now owns the Banpresto part of the rights.

          • ShadowDivz

  • DFM

Mana Khemia+Persona+Atelier Iris+LOH? Localize it & my wallet is in your care.

    • Slayven19

I get 3 of those but what does Atelier Iris have in common with any of these? I only played the 2nd atelier iris so forgive the ignorance on my part.

      • DFM

Ah. It’s the quests portion; Atelier Iris 3 has a quest/guild system where you take requests off the table, accomplish them, earn rewards etc. Sometimes, doing those requests will give you humorous scenes. I would recommend giving it a shot if you like the combat system in Mana Khemia & fancy a stoic protagonist.

  • Alestaos

This i think after seeing all articles posted here, this game is one of those games as a gamer i need to play. It looks and sounds amazing. Im truely holding out for a localization, since i cant straight import this one due to the high level of Japanese Understanding it would take to enjoy and play.

  • fireemblembeast

I hope they are made into fun little minigames ^_^

  • Kai2591

This game’s side quests sound really fun :)

  • I… cannot cram Japanese into my brain fast enough!

  • Zind Keeper

Meanwhile in the U.S., we still await SC.

  • Kudoshinichi12

I need this game in my life. I really hope, out of some miraculous chance, that this game gets localized. I know very well how low that possibility is but, ugh. It looks so good. I need to learn Japanese…
