Tales Of Link? Tales of Ansis? Tales Of Jin? Yeah, More Tales Trademarks

By Spencer . August 12, 2013 . 10:16pm

imageRight before Namco Bandai announces a new Tales game they file a ton of trademarks. In addition to the Tales of Zestoria, Tales of Creales, and Tales of Catastora trademarks we found three more Tales trademarks.

Tales of Link, Tales of Jin and Tales of Ansis were also filed by Namco Bandai. These potential names sound different than say Tales of Symphonia, Tales of Xillia or Tales of Zestoria. Tales of Jin and Tales of Ansis sound like these "tales" are about a single character.

By the way, I’m sorting through the entries from our Tales of Xillia giveaway. There were way more than I expected (I guess Siliconera has grown quite a bit?) and many of them are great. It’s going to take a little while to judge these.

  • wererat42

Is it just me or are there a few too many Tales coming out at once? I have a sneaking suspicion these are mobile games.

    • Nightmare637

no these are just trademarks, most(if not all) of these won’t become games

    • Shinobikens

They may not even use any of them and if they do they’ll probably only use one

  • Lloyd Christmas

I like the sound of tales of ansis. I’m also getting a little antsy waiting for the polls to start. I wanna see everyone else’s entries.

  • Fidelis

Tales games have seemed to lack a certain something since Vesperia. Hopefully the series will take a venture back to form with the next release

    • Shinobikens

Idk Xillia was fantastic and I honestly enjoyed it a little more than Vesperia and Xillia 2 is suppose to be even better

    • lunarwhale

Barring Hearts, I sort of feel the same way. I don’t know that it’s so much that they’ve just been of lesser quality as that they’ve been trying new things to mixed results, however, although that applies more to the Xillia games. Graces I feel was just generally one of the weaker entries in the series aside from the fantastic gameplay.

    • Ferrick

other than severely insane damage counters, i don’t think vesperia brought really that much into the overall tales series, and personally, i feel that xillia 2 is better than vesperia

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/EnvyMizuhashi Garyuu of Spades

I couldn’t stop laughing at Tales of Link for more than five minutes. xD

  • bpinalone

Those Private Actions with Navi are the worst.

    • Seraph

Aren’t ‘Private Actions’ a Star Ocean thing?

      • Tyler Beale

        Yes they are….

        He means Skits, right?

  • Higashi no Ame 東の雨

Let’s just say that the next Tales of Series is likely to be on either Nintendo 3DS or Wii U.

    • Chardo

its actually more likely we will get Tales of tempest R for the vita completing the trilogy of DS tales re-imaginations.

let me explan,Tales of innocence R hinted about tempest R and hearts R. (and this was even before hearts R was announced!)

    • Beat

I hope so. I also hope for a 3ds tales with multiplayer.

    • almostautumn

Hope not. When Namco doesn’t localize it gamers won’t even have the option of importing.

    • TalesOfBS

Tales of Beta for Wii U/One. Tales of Complete Edition for PS4 a year later.
      Just kidding.

Wouldn’t be surprised if that happens again.

  • https://twitter.com/BinksFrost Binks5

tales of link… even if it related to zelda the name is just awful

    • CanvasWolfDoll

‘tales of zelda’, however, would be a fun crossover game. their formulas might even mix together well! make ganon a well intentioned extremist; hyrule and shadow realm for the dual worlds thing; big twist at the middle.

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

Link needs more games with his name in it

      • Guest

What if it is Tales of Link but starring Zelda. That would be a nice twist. I can see Nintendo saying, “People keep bugging us to make Zelda playable. Let another company do it while we focus on the actual Zelda game.”

        • ShawnOtakuSomething

          Or,,,,,

  • JustThisOne

Hmm. You’re right, these are really different from the average Tales names. I hate to be a bum about this, but these kind of sound like a spin-off/mobile/social game.

Or maybe some sort of a side-story to a new mainline game.

I’m thinking Zestoria, Creales or Catastora sound more like the mainline game.

  • Atmey

I think Verperia was the only one the name had some relation (even remote) to the game, or at least the only one I played.

    • brian

I never thought they did, but Abyss did with the Qliphoth being an abyss.

    • JustThisOne

They’re all loosely related to the title in someway. Some are more related than others.

    • Pockystix

I think it’s implied that Symphonia is the name given to a certain key plot element in the end of Tales of Symphonia

      • Raltrios

The tree? It’s Yggdrasil. I understand that it’s said so in another Tales game.

        • Pockystix

the original tree was Yggdrasil, it’s offspring was named by Lloyd

          again I think

          • Eefara

No, the name Lloyd gives to the new tree is Yggdrasil. I don’t know if it’s “parent” tree’s name was ever given.

    • Chardo

Eternia is the name of the world in tales of eternia.

And hearts (spiria) are a very big theme on tales of hearts.

  • Thrasher429

Legend of zelda…tales of link. And they say there is discrimination against women in video games

  • Guest

I wish the NA could get the rest of the Tales series games that haven’t been released over here
If the VITA remakes of the NDS come out over here though I’m not getting them because they aren’t the original versions

Tales of Destiny II and Tales of Rebirth need to get English releases in some form

    • Thrasher429

So you never played tales of graces f since it wasn’t the original version then.

      • Guest

I can see what he’s saying, I dunno why the NDS versions didn’t come out over here
I wouldn’t get them either because the VITA versions aren’t 2D like the originals
As for Tales of Graces F, that was just an enhanced port, it’s not like that game made the jump from 2D to 3D like the NDS Tales games did

        • Curan_Altea

Just gonna throw out there that Innocence used 3D models.
Pretty good game, shame neither version came over.

          • Guest

It may have had 3D character models but the backgrounds were 2D

          • Slayven19

But that makes no sense to not get it because of the backgrounds being 2d which all of them weren’t even in 2D. The remake of innocence is a major upgrade from the original and it isn’t a good game at all really especially those dungeons. on nds. Hearts I could understand but not ToI there’s just no way and the argument you both tried to use for it doesn’t make sense.

        • Chardo

Tales of innocence R is a complete improvement over the original, the original innocence had really grindy and badly designed dungeons, along with simplistic gameplay that grew very old.

however, I can say the original hearts is indeed very different from the vita version, as someone who played the original hearts though, all the changes in the vita version are amazing improvements, the original had a kind of spammy battle system and was too easy even on hard, Hearts R fixes all these problems and adds new mechanics (counter guard and chase system) that give it a much better breath of freshness instead of being just a portable Tales of Destiny R like the original felt.

        • almostautumn

Choosing not to play good games is rather silly, isn’t it?

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    Tales of Link?

    • Brimfyre

Nintendo did say that working with 3rd parties to make exclusives is their future, such as SMT vs. FE.

Also I like that Namco is working well with Nintendo lately if this is the case. Gives me more hope they would allow a Kos-Mos cameo in X.

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

Kos-Mos in X…think if she was a hidden boss

    • J_Joestar
      • ndjn3979

        This is so badass

      • Kitestwinblades

∑(;°Д°) That Master sword is so tiny!
Nah… Link is just too damn big ( ̄□ ̄;)
And a super bloody skeleton death to boot(hoof)!

    • Mavalex

      Ganon was a Joestar!?
      WELP, we messed up bad

    • http://youtube.com/user/Chubunater Chubunato

Ah, this is why i love the internet…

  • Göran Isacson

… For some reason I just got an image of Nintendo, what with their close ties to NamDai these days, giving them the world of Hyrule to make a Tales of-style game for it.

I am not sure if I like or dislike this thought.

  • EvE

    i hope this isn’t IOS games,…..

  • http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/21421.html?type=4 Kashell

And coming soon…Tales of Peach, Tales of Kirby and Tales of Samus.

  • Isaac Newton

Tales of Link – Wii U
    Tales of Jin – PS4
    Tales of Ansis – Xbox

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

      hell yeah

    • NightzeroAX

Baba said he has no plans on making Tales games on Xbox and will only focus on one console.

  • Terr

You have reddit and tumblr share buttons but you don’t have g+? What the hell?

  • MrTyrant

One of them is a social game…

  • Milla

Tales of Jin Kisaragi? i’d buy it. <3

oh and in ToX Jin was the spyrix thingy in JP (the thingy elempions use to cast arte)

    • Mavalex

Villian will be voiced by Ragna’s VA. Jin thought it was Ragna but it wasnt and becomes pissed :P

  • http://www.blackxino.blogspot.com/ Xino

copy and paste…that’s what all the Tales games are:/

  • $36598391

Tales of Jin…. what is Namco going to do a Tales/Tekken crossover?

  • Alexander Aubert

i remembered i see a comment about how they just popping trademarks from what they can find at dictionary…. yeah, now i agree with that

  • fairysun

Somehow when I read Tales of Jin, it reminds me of someone …..
I wonder who it was …

  • DesmaX

Tales of Link: The Faces of Evil

  • Yan Zhao

lol Tales of Link. Make this happen Nintendo!

  • Michael Connell

Tales of Ansis…hmm, move that s a little and…could we possibly be getting a spinoff of Tales of the Abyss?

  • pekikuubik

Tales of Jin and Tales of Ansis sound like these “tales” are about a single character.

Not necessarily. There are many kanji with the reading ‘jin’. Maybe they just derived that particular title from Japanese instead of picking a random word from an English dictionary.
Not sure why you think Ansis is the name of a person.

  • PlayLife

    I suspect more IPHONE/Mobile games.

  • artemisthemp

Tales of Localization <– Yes make it happen

  • Presea

Tales of Link sounds like a Legend of Zelda and Tales crossover. Not only you can play as Link but now you can also fight as Zelda, Malon, Tingle, and other LOZ characters in a Tales-like battle system. Fantastic!

  • Fahd Al Zarooni

    AWESOME, MORE TALES FTW… (^0^) /

  • Courtney Levi Osborn

    YES

  • CirnoLakes

As much as I want to like these names, I will admit they could be a little better.

    They’re a little on the… simple side.
