Rise Of Mana Trademark Registered In Japan

By Spencer . August 13, 2013 . 10:03pm

imageHmm… it looks like Square Enix is doing something with the Mana series. Siliconera first found a trademark for Rise of Mana registered in Europe. Square Enix filed a trademark for Rise of Mana for use with video games and computer software in Japan too.

In addition to that, Square Enix re-registered Seiken Densetsu (Holy Sword Legend), the franchise name for the Mana series, earlier this year. Maybe Square Enix is planning on doing something with the Mana series aside from that GREE game.

Drakengard 3 was hinted at through re-registered trademarks. Drag-On Dragoon was registered a couple of months before a new game in the series was revealed.

This seems ripe for Breath of Fire 6 treatment.

    • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

      Touch screen capable confirmed

  • Suriel Cruz

I won’t even care about this. -sigh-
Same thing as Breath of Fire 6.

  • TheGunheart

Calling it now; it’s a social card game for iPhone only.

    • School Idol Addict

Yeah here come Fall of Mana: The Trading Card Game for IOS only.

      • Demeanor

You’re optimistic! I’m expecting a numbered title XD

      • Tyler Beale

Now with your favorite card packs! Only $19.99 for a pack of two cards that are with a dollar each but we’re Square Enix so fuck you give us money anyway!!

    • Pockystix

it’s sad that this is the most likely situation. . .

  • meiam

See square, just a few years ago people would have lost their mind over that, now people just go “w/e must be another crappy cell phone game”. How the mighty have fallen.

    • Samuel

After teasing people with Deus Ex the Fall I think people have given up hope.

  • While it would be nice to be excited… it is likely only a browser/mobile/social game. Not… exactly mine (or several others’) cup of tea.

  • Tiduas

No matter how much I think it will probably be something that will make us disappointed again, but a small part of my body just can’t help to be a little excited for this anyway. I mean, the title actually says “Rise of Mana” which could indicate that SE themselves think that the trademark need to return from the ashes. Please Square-Enix… please!

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Can i still believe in S-E?T_T Can i still believe that those two title will be for 3DS at least.T_T(So that we had some smallllllllll chance of localization.)

  • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

Oh Flammeh. I know this is just going to be a crappy card game, but your face is just so cute.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

no…I’m not going to fall for it again

  • Herok♞

Look I have never played a Mana game but seeing as its a trademark in Europe and not just Japan should give some hope, seriously yes Capcom did just pull the whole Breath of Fire 6 thing, but you forgot that Square just recently made the Circle of Mana social game so you need to have a little more faith because it makes no sense to have two social games of the same brand released.

    • IxisNaugus

      Oh it’ll make sense to Square-Enix, I’m sure…

  • Gemlit

It sounds appealing. I hope it will be brought over.

Anyways, it could be SE’s plan to give a bunch of games to ios gamers, and then while everyone expects this game to be for the iPhone, they’ll announce it for the PS3 or PS4. Though very unlikely, it’s possible.

  • SirRichard

I doubt that Square would come out with a second Mana social game so soon, and the European trademark at least lends it some credence. But then who knows, given their recent cull of anything they don’t think will sell to immense profits, I’m not sure they’d chance a Mana game any more.

The Square that made so many classics is long dead
The current company lost their passion for making good games
All of the Final Fantasy games before 10 were good then they went downhill after that
The company may have Square in it’s name but it’s really Enix calling the shots behind the scenes

      • Um… actually, all the head honchos at SquEnix hail from the Square side. Enix is pretty much doing the same thing it’s always done.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

    Browser game lol

  • Magnumsally

I am going to be hurt

  • Oh oh oh! Let’s play the guessing game. Ok, it’s going to be…a Facebook only MMO style simulation game like Farmville. Only this time, it’s set in the Mana universe! Of course, you have to pay a fee to use all of the features.

  • Göran Isacson

It’s too late SE. I’ve been hurt too many times to trust you on this again.

  • Ric Vazquez

I really hope it’s not something for iOS, but something for vita or 3ds

  • Joshua ‘Near’ River’z

Noo..no, not gonna fall for that again SE

  • alangato

Hey hey, maybe it is a real Mana made by Grezzo for 3DS?? Who knows…hehe

  • TruenoGT

This would be a cool Wii U game if modeled after the originals, allowing for on-the-fly configuration of AI helpers in single player mode via the touchscreen, or in multi-player, a separate screen for each player so each could explore different areas of the level simultaneously. Sadly though, I agree with others in that some iOS/Android game is probably more likely…

  • Yan Zhao

Another mobile game. Gaming is truely dead.

  • Eric Harris

    mobile. Bet your life savings.

  • King mogz

    Bring SD3 to the west!!

  • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

    Facebook game or bust.

  • Warboss Aohd

if dis isn’t a Social game on iOS, i will be surprised.

  • goldenlander

I hope it will be a game for Wii U or at least 3DS.
