Hop Into Lost Planet 3’s Rig And Fight A Giant Enemy Akrid

By Spencer . August 18, 2013 . 10:30am

In Japan, Capcom has a series of videos showing off Lost Planet 3, which comes out at the end of August. Rigs are quite different from the mecha Lost Planet and Lost Planet 2 since Lost Planet 3 is actually a prequel to the other two games. Designed for mining and not combat, Rigs fight with drills and a grabbing arm instead of rocket launchers. The fights are kind of reminiscent of Punchout! and Capcom confirmed Punchout! was one of the inspirations.

Lost Planet 3 is slated for release on August 27 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

  • the Mech part seemd pretty boring, the shooting part seemed kinda fun though

      the QTE looked horrid though…

I dont know. LP2 really dissapointed me.
I bought it expecting to fight alot of gigantic akrid.
    And you only fight like….6
most of the time is spent fighting humans.

Am i the only one who though the thumb was Robert Downey Jr. as Ironman at the first glance O_o’

Honestly, i’m tired of prequels. Most aren’t even done correctly and they take away some of the best features (cuz it’s a prequel). Very few games actually have good prequels but I would rather have a sequel.

Not really digging the boring clunky American Mechwarrior aesthetic of the mechs of the 3rd game. The first two had a good balance between Japanese anime aesthetics and realistic types. I’m gonna pass on this. I’d rather have EX Troopers! Now that’s the real Lost Planet 3 right there!

I love how excited I was for LP2 to the point I couldn’t wait at lal for the last 3 days for it to come out. This game I completely keep forgetting exists. It’s going to bomb hard like very hard. The advertising for this game is so dead.

Very excited; already have my pre-order paid off.
E.X. Troopers really revitalized my love for this series; genuinely excited this time around. Very happy they returned to snow environments also!

Am i the only one who thinks the rig combat looks a bit monotonous and boring? Loves Lp 1 and 2 but…this rig stuff is putting me off

That situation in which the spin-off is better, by a mile, than the main series – that’s what’s happening with Lost Planet.

  • Judgephoenix

I hope Capcom set their sell numbers low, not seeing this do well.

    • I really liked the first one though it had a lot of issues, but I’m not excited for this.

i wonder is there any possibility that the popularity of Pacific Rim will attract some casual gamer to this game? what do you all think?

this promo actually increase my interest on the game somewhat. still not enough to make me buy it though. i wonder if the Rig can be upgraded? it will be boring to use those 3 tools throughout the entire game. the guns is certainly upgradable, as the green highlight shown. and lastly, is that a pair of caterpillar tracks on the legs there? if so, will it served any purpose? i will keep an eye out for this.
