Open-World Adventure Rime Announced For PS4 [Update]

By Ishaan . August 20, 2013 . 11:03am

An open-world adventure game, Rime, by Tequila Works is headed to the PlayStation 4, Sony announced at their Gamescom press conference this morning.

An early video that Sony displayed showed a game that gave off vibes of Ico and Journey. More on Rime soon.

Update: It would appear Rime is only for PS4, and not Vita. We apologize for the error.

The trailer looked pretty great. Can’t wait to try it.

  • NintendoPSX

    Ico + Journey? I’m in.

  • JuhRo

Phew.. This looks great. :) Borderlands 2, FFX HD, Tearaway, Killzone.. Try talking trash about the Vita again?

    • NintendoPSX

Three of those are gonna be on PS3/PS4. Vita needs DISTINCT exclusives that SELL and KEEP INTEREST. So far, they don’t really have this. I even OWN a Vita and still feel this.

      • Arcana Wiz

… this is the sad truth.. most vita games are ports or multiplataform, at least we can hope for tgs.

        • Strid

You need to change that to most Vita games in the west. If you were in the Japanese market, you’d be ace with the games.

          • JuhRo

            Ace– Pun intended? eh? eh?

          • Strid

Accidental, I’m afraid. That’s a nice catch though.

      • JuhRo

Games feel GREAT on the Vita, though and I’m gladly getting the Vita version of any game over the home console(or PC) one.

Tearaway and Killzone Mercenary are only on Vita, by the way. I would hate to blur the lines between KZ: Merc and KZ Shadowfall just cause they’re the same brand.

And for those that can’t afford a PS4 right away.. those games that are coming out that are cross-buy PS Vita/PS4… will be a great deal! Not to mention having access to those games already. (Example is up top)

      • I know I’m in the minority, but if the games are good, I don’t really care if they’re exclusive to a handheld or not. I mean, I listen to the same music on my mp3 player as I do on my home stereo, why do games necessarily have to be different?

        • drproton

          I feel the same way.

          I agree that exclusives are
king, but form-factor is huge when it comes to handhelds. I think it’s great that I can get uncompromised versions of PS3 franchises, or ports and multiplats (sometimes even improved) of PS3 games and put them in my pocket.

      • WhyWai

I can’t bring a PS3 and a TV to play on those games on train…

    • DarthSithZero

As long as your are happy with your Vita, Don’t care what the others have to say.

      • JuhRo

That’s true, but from a marketing standpoint, people are consistently bashing the Vita.. and that’s overall not good for the Vita’s longevity since that is its image.

        • Katboy

which id unfair..its an awesome device!people who complainno games, a game comes then they say its on ps3 too..

      • Katboy

exactly..I ALWAYS get the Vita version of these games..and I enjoy them. no compliants..I am happy for this too – Vita version for me!

    • Lots of remakes and ports. And even if I like indie games, I keep feeling the vita is some kind of experimental indie game breeding game sometimes.

I love the Vita hardware but I can’t help but feel that’s all there is most of the time.

That said this game looks really damn good and I like the look of it.

  • jujubee88

Oh shii. It is coming to VITA?

Dat OLED goodness…. HOLY MOTHER OR PEARLS.

  • Arcana Wiz

Sounds very cool, will keep on my radar.

  • JonathanisPrimus

Most sites are just reporting this for PS4. Please don’t do that nonsense where every PS4 game is on Vita because of Remote Play ala you guys reporting that every PSM game is a Vita game.

    • drproton

Yeah, that’s the impression I got from the stream.

  • Unlimax

This Gem Looks really promising .. I freaking love the Atmosphere and the ICO vibe .

    Definitely on my list .

  • AttorneyAtMusic

This was the game announcement that excited me the most. The art direction looks slick and the world looks like it will be fun to explore.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

This was one of the more interesting reveals of the conference for me.

  • Ryuukishi

Glad to hear this is on Vita too, looks like it could be pretty cool.

  • Onizuka Gio Hikari

Looks great! Can’t wait to try it

  • Alestaos

    Vita is one of the best buys i ever made. Just because it has multiplatform games on it, doesnt make it worse off. Look at call of duty thats on nearly every platform and i dont see people moan then ^^;

  • badmoogle

Games like this is why i love Sony.

  • artemisthemp

I will most likely bye this game, since it gameplay remind me of Ico
