Tengus Will Bring Muramasa Rebirth To Europe This Fall

By Spencer . August 21, 2013 . 5:07pm

imageAksys announced they will release Muramasa Rebirth in Europe this fall. The Vita game is an enhanced version of Muramasa: The Demon Blade with a new localization and downloadable scenarios with four additional characters. Muramasa Rebirth will be a PlayStation Network release in PAL territories.

Speaking of those DLC scenarios… I wonder when we’ll get to play as the Nekomata. The four Vita-exclusive scenarios have not been released in Japan or here, but since Dragon’s Crown is finished maybe Vanillaware will focus on Muramasa Rebirth. Producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto exclusively told Siliconera about the four characters and how they will play.

Great News. All I need now is a MegaTen IV date then I’m set for this year.

    YES!! Omg yesssssssss!

Thank you based universe!! (And TENGUS)

  • Erikdayo

Congrats Europe. You finally get to experience the definitive version of Muramasa. :) Much better single player experience than Dragons’s Crown too!

    Can’t wait for that DLC.

    • z_merquise

I love the gameplay in Muramasa but for me, single player for Dragon’s Crown is better. Even if DC is more preferred to be played in multiplayer (nothing beats local co-op) single player is very fun too.

      • Erikdayo

Dragon’s Crown has no good characters and practically no story. I don’t see how it can be better single player unless you’re only considering gameplay.. Which I still like better in Muramasa. Personal opinion, of course.

Dragon’s Crown also failed to do local multi well. I can’t take my character to a friend’s for local PS3 play. Broken.

        • z_merquise

Oh okay, so you’re referring to story and characterization then. Well Dragon’s Crown is more of an arcade beat-em-up like Capcom’s Dungeons and Dragons so story is not the main focus.

I do think Odin Sphere had the best story in all of the Vanillaware games.

  • Neophoton

I must admit I forgot all about the DLC for the game.

    • AkuLord3

I was having too much fun in the main game before i remember about it lol

      • Neophoton

        Likewise!

  • Ric Vazquez

Rejoice my gamer comrades all the way in Europe, I got this on launch day and I assure you it’s worth every penny!

  • Malon

    Dude, FINALLY.
I wonder if we will have to play it in english since the Wii version was translated for multi-5.
It’s not like I can’t play in english, as I previously said in another post I’m french and I often play games which are released here in english, but it always feels more “natural” to play in your native langage.
But I won’t complain for Muramasa since I’ve been waiting since forever. Give my Vita some love, my body is ready.

    • AkuLord3

If its not english dub in for US, than i really doubt it, not like its a big deal

The game will retain the original Japanese voice audio. Unsure about the European release’s intentions for text. Expect at least the new (and very improved) Aksys English translation.

I don’t think they’ll be adding more languages though.

  • SirRichard

So, who are Tengus, then? European branch for Aksys? Haven’t heard their name before now, I don’t think.

EDIT: Wait a minute, I just realised what that word actually is. Don’t laugh, it’s 1 am!

    • z_merquise

Same here. I thought it’s a publisher in Europe until I realized the article headline is referring to a mythical creature tengu.

    • Arcana Wiz

yes this title it’s really misleading.

    • Kevadu

I recognized tengus as the mythical creature right away, but I assumed some European publisher had named themselves “Tengus”. Because hey, it’s not a bad name…

    • shadowind

I’m glad it’s finally coming out here in Europe although I guess it’s another game that I’ll be importing through NCSX (and they’re pretty cool guys in my opinion!) alongside Ragnarok Odyssey Ace because there’s no physical release here… :(

  • Arcana Wiz

yes, and now that DC was released vanillaware now can make the DLC episodes that they promoted the game with, i mean i want play with Nekomata ^_^….. and the others characters too.

  • Vitonofrio del Rosso

I’ll act like a jerk.. I appreciate it, but psn only? I’ll wait for sale….

  • Ryujin

I was waiting for Ys: Memories of Celceta to come out so I could buy them both online at the same time…Looks like it’s a good thing I didn’t import Muramasa yet.

Still, the lack of physical releases outside of the US is a little frustrating. Is the market for these games really that much worse in the EU? Not to mention countries like Australia and New Zealand. Allow me to go all Karl Marx for a second and say: “Niche gamers of the world, unite!”

  • Virevolte

Like tons of people : already import it.

    • Prinnydoom

      Its what i did.

  • michel

Not the best marketing move, in my opinion… But probably Aksys is afraid that retailers won’t buy in the card version.

  • artemisthemp

    No retail version?
