Can I just say that I will be devastated if this doesn’t come to America?

  • Luis Camargo

This is the longest monologue and doll story I remember ever reading.

This really needs to be localized.

  • Ferrick

How the hell does Octa run with those things on?!

    • neocatzon

He practices in them for Tengu Geta World Championship 2013

  • Göran Isacson

… I kept expecting this to take a dark turn where the dolls turn out to be something far more sinister than we think they are, but nope. If anything it was just kinda sad. The darkest part seemed to be that Three has a… rather worying definition of ‘consent’ when it comes to doing things she wants to do. Maybe it’s a good thing she’s usually so apathetic to the world around her and mostly in her own world, where people don’t complain that she’s dull. Because if she was more interested, who knows what would happen with those scissors.

Also, while I read the relationship between Three and Octa to be almost like that of a granddaughter and her somewhat absent but still caring grandfather, I am fully prepared for there to be something squicky going on between them that Three just… doesn’t notice. I mean it COULD be that Octa genuinely takes care of Three and doesn’t molest or abuse her in some way, but Drakengard man. I’m not willing to take the chance of believing that.

    • neocatzon

Cute girl love cute things, that’s lovely but I agree when she lost in her world.. it’s innocent yet sad. With these narrative, when applied to irl it’s not hard to feel something amiss or wrong.
I also wonder if there’s more into Octa’s “X” mark besides “III”
Even it’s not looking sinister but that line: “So that means, I’ll make them with bigger heads, wider foreheads, big eyes, smaller mouths and noses, and plump cheeks.” is more than enough for giving drakengard players a nightmare. Never trust a baby looking thing. Never.

      • Göran Isacson

Yeah, I do wonder what the X does mean… perhaps it’s the old “X means anything” math-term, meant to represent how he can move between any “number” he wants to? Or that X somehow symbilozes Zero?

Ha ha ha oh God yes. No one who has finished every ending in Drakengard will trust a baby again. Trust not the babies. Speak not the babies. Picture not the babies.

  • Final Aura

Three is quite the abstract. dolls creepy….. I need SCISSORS 61!!!

  • AnimusVox

    ‘Tee hee hee….hehehe’

    Oh my glob, everyone RUN!!!!

  • Ethan_Twain

This has been getting a fair bit of Siliconera coverage, and I dare say even I begin to think it looks intriguing. What are localization prospects? On one hand, it seems like quite a niche work to localize (especially considering the new hardware launches) but it ALSO seems like quite a niche work to develop. So… maybe there’s hope? Is there official word yet?

  • JustThisOne

I’m thinking Three’s going to take this doll thing to a whole ‘nother level. They’re going to start having cute little human eyes. Maybe she’ll stuff them with cute little kidneys and intestines, because the innards make them feel more fleshy. :>

Maybe she’ll start to forget the difference between dolls and humans and try to cute-ify everyone.

  • SoundMatch

THIS IS SO FUCKED UP. OMG.
“I spent the entire day looking for “cheek filling”. Something very soft with a nice feel to it. The insides of a featherbed? How about the insides of a cushion? what about a plush? Or sweets? I tried cutting many things that are plump or fluffy, to check their insides. When I cut the featherbed, many tiny feathers scattered across the room. I accidentally inhaled some, and couldn’t stop sneezing. After cutting sweet and fluffy snacks, my scissors got sticky from the cream. After seeing me sneezing while licking off the sticky cream, Octa began to look, looking disturbed at the same time. After that, Octa washed my hair and changed my clothes that were covered in feathers, and I finally stopped sneezing. But I couldn’t find something that could be used as a filling for cheeks. What are baby cheeks made of…?Read more at http://www.siliconera.com/2013/08/23/drakengard-3-sister-three-displays-her-obsession-with-dolls/#1ThtOuY7ipqBKQTD.99

What did she actually cut in reality and what was that “cream”. Was it a bird she killed and stuffed her dolls to make it feel cute, soft and fluffy?

    Please tell me I’m wrong

    • ndjn3979

“After cutting sweet and fluffy snacks…”

I think you are overthinking it.

      • SoundMatch

Yea I feel stupid now. It’s just when you read something that’s supposed to be weird and it’s somewhat normal. I get this feeling something is even more wrong.

        • AnimusVox

Ahah yeah at first it does sound a bit dirty xD

          • SoundMatch

Especially with the “sticky cream” and the licking.

“When I cut the featherbed, many tiny feathers scattered across the room. I accidentally inhaled some, and couldn’t stop sneezing.” I just pictured her sneezing and looking so innocent and cute… it almost makes me cry

“Drakengard 3 is slated for release on October 31 for PlayStation 3.”

Quit playing games with my heart!

It’s been delayed to December 19 in Japan. Still no word on localization. I’m having the Collector’s Edition imported.

  • Josephl64

She sounds like such a cute girl, I knew she would be my fave from her first reveal

  • AkuLord3

<3 Three~ and so she knows Octa, that's interesting. Its cute and yet feeling a sinister feel from reading this (especially the end)…having to kill her is going make me sad :c

  • Vash bane

she sounds cute and all and you can just picture it. but after reading a couple sentences over again I noticed…. she is quite sinister lol
(I sense “dolls” involving in her boss battle)

  • Đặng Tấn Đức

The way she talks almost makes it sounds like she’s cutting up people to make her dolls.
    Creepy.

    • Mr_SP

I don’t know if these dolls are going to be hovering doll fights… Or mutilated humans.

  • Surgeon of Death

She like dolls? What is she, three? (pun intended)

    • leingod

      Nice!

  • http://denpanosekai.blogspot.com denpanosekai

Wow Siliconera, good job. How about you just straight up localize the game? New publisher?

  • Bur

So. Wonder if she ever found out what’s inside baby cheeks.

    • Rayhan PromisedGallery

      probably there’s Arioch inside it

  • Namuro

Man, it’s like I’m reading out of a diary from games like Resident Evil or something. I love it! These stories are really interesting insights into the characters. I hope there’ll be more stuff like these to read in the game.

  • Tom

Can’t repeat myself enough: I want this game!

  • brian

Does this girl remind anyone else of Oichi?
This video is the best explanation of her personality that comes to mind, backstory starts at 3:33 and weird dialogue/monologue starts at 4:28.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77w5U8L5uoY
She also calls Ieyasu and Mitsunari “Lord happy” and “Lord grumpy” respectively.
I gotta also link this one since it made me chuckle~

“After seeing me sneezing while licking off the sticky cream, Octa began to look, looking disturbed at the same time.”
Well…yeah poor guy isnt the youngest anymoreXD

  • Crimson_Cloud

    You know what could be worse of this not getting a localization? A localization with all those characters turned into males. Censored version cuz’ we can’t have crazy females cutting each other or some crap. Just imagine that. The rage. ;_;

    • leadintea

That won’t happen. The amount of time, money, and effort to change the model of the sisters, the voice acting, the storyline, etc. ensures that the worst thing that’ll happen is that we won’t get the game.

      • Crimson_Cloud

I know I know, I just said it as a joker. Was not serious. ^^

  • Go2hell66

My quota of “WTF!?” for the day has been reached

  • MFP

So that’s how DOD’s Cyclops and man-eating baby was born. hmm…

    • Rayhan PromisedGallery

they grow so fast from doll-size into mountain-size

  • Rei Nitramier

Creepy. The last few dolls (if not every last one from the beginning) may have been/used to be people. The lines saying that their head were hard by default & “cannot be carved like wood & molded like clay” kinda’ clinches it.

This is so gonna’ be interesting…

  • Victoria [Rokuso3]

She said babies. BABIES. AND THIS IS DRAKENGARD.

“I decided to make the castle doll into a monster I saw in a book. It
was a giant monster. If I tie both arms behind, and twist the legs, it
looks like a building, right? Just to make it look more like a building,
I’ll add stairs and ladders to it.”

that remind me of some mountain-sized cyclops

These mini-novels are always so interesting to read! They really flesh out the characters well. And they don’t try to be dark or grim, nothing seems forced. It really seems like they’re just some girls with a few weird quirks. This is making me pretty attached to them before I’ve even played the game. Now I hope the game can capitalize on this character growth and GOD I hope we don’t have to kill them.

  • Touma

shes like a child. i think shes gonna move on from fabric to flesh like a murderer goes from animals to humans. like the saying goes “theres nothing more pure or cruel then a child”. i’m loving these background stories. I usually have a hard time keeping my concentration when reading books but i could get lost in these for hours. they’re so well made and gives great conveyance of their individual personalities.
