I wonder how tracks are chosen when it comes to making “best of” albums. Do companies ask the composer themselves to choose the tracks, or do they ask fans which ones they like better? Or is it actually a more market-driven decison, such as choosing tracks that favor more recent games that could still sell?

Something I’m curious as well. Perhaps they ask the composers themselves to choose what they consider as fan favorites, y’know what I mean? Of course, they’d probably want to sneak in their own favorites too.

But that’s just my guess. :<

Boy Yamanaka sure loves Last Remnant no Crystal Chronicles, no Front Mission hell he even helped a little with FF3 DS and did Code Age Commander.

  • BlueTree

I love the Last Remnant’s soundtrack. Reversal! has such a great context in game, can’t wait to hear this rendition.

  • Monterossa

The Last Remnent is an awesome game with awesome theme songs!

    • Juan Andrés Valencia

The game has one of the best soundtracks I’ve heard in an RPG. (Yeah, I went there.)

      • Sesshomaru

I should really try and play it. I got it in the steam sale recently.

        • WyattEpp

It takes a little bit to get used to, but once you start to do the huge battles, it’s a blast. Probably my favourite battle system ever.

Just one warning, make sure you do the sidequests, otherwise you’ll get destroyed by some of the later bosses and enemies. There’s a middle boss that’s quite challenging.

        • Umar Ver 1.Happy

You should really play it ONLY when you have enough time to dedicate to it, it has the best side quest of any game well, that I have played. The side quests are so interesting and are not your run of the mill fetch quests of which there are but there some of them unlock new areas, characters, story and enemies. It’s really good!

      • Umar Ver 1.Happy

Actually I am inclined to agree sir, It has some the best tracks I have heard in a RPG

Last Remnant and Sigma Harmonics! Mmmm… delicious. *___*

  • Wait what

I read “Final Fantasy X Prelude” and my brain instantly thought they were announcing a prequel to FFX following Jecht. This is cool too, though… I guess.

Reversal! and Swords Sparks are two of my favorite Video Game themes. LR was a seriously horrible mess on Xbox and never played more than an hour…But I am SOOOOOO glad I decided to get the PC version because LR is actually a really, and I mean REALLY good JRPG, and very under appreciated

I must be missing something. Do these composers just have terrible taste, or were they limited to only choosing modern stuff? And why are there so many from The Last Remnant? It’s got a great soundtrack, to be fair, but it’s not like it’s the best Square Enix soundtrack of all time warranting 5 tracks when the rest get 1-2 or 0.

    Last Remnant Sequel Maybe?
