Dragon’s Crown Patch Makes Wizard More Powerful, Tweaks Network Settings

By Spencer . September 3, 2013 . 1:31am

wizard Atlus is improving Dragon’s Crown again with another patch. This one adds a few features like a triangle cursor on the bottom of the screen so other characters are more visible and an option for random players to jump into the Chaos Labyrinth in the network menu. One of the big changes is the Wizard has been rebalanced. The Wizard’s has more maximum MP and his magic power has been increased as well.

The Amazon’s neck breaker attack can be canceled and after a successful parry the Amazon’s berserk level will go up by one. That last change should make the Amazon much more effective since you can build up to level 3 berserk faster.

Another major tweak in Dragon’s Crown is you can progress through the story in offline multiplayer if you and the other characters are at the same point. If a game has an error in online multiplayer, Dragon’s Crown won’t kick players back to the town anymore you’ll end up at the start of the dungeon instead. The patch also fixes various bugs and adjusts skills. The update goes live in Japan today.

    GIVE ME MORE POWERFUL

    • SlickRoach

I can feel my powerful levels rising

  • Soyeon

shouldn’t sorc get that power buff too since they share the same circle attacks?

    • Soyeon

OH it’s probably just referring to his skills nvm

  • Go2hell66

Wonderful, these patches are a godsend

    • chibidw

Could use a skill point refund if they’re going to mess with class balance in patches though, particularly given how rare the respec potions are.

  • Virevolte

That’s cool. It was a pain to tell my friends to play seven hours with a new character before coming over to play together.

  • z_merquise

I haven’t started playing as Wizard but those changes for Amazon is nice. It made her Neck Splitter skill more useful because it indeed had a long recovery time, making her open to enemy attacks.

Offline multiplayer progress isn’t really a huge issue for me. It just gave me and my brother more time to play in co-op but I can really see it as an issue for other people so it’s good that they changed as well.

  • HassanJamal

Oh how I wish i could try the MP. Stupid VCAS copy.

  • Suriel Cruz

PLEASE announce an expansion pack!!! With more stages, a new character and color edit. Dx

    • Testsubject909

      Or a sequel.

  • Nitraion

i use wizard from get go.. this is good news

  • Dominic Hunter

Yo, my Amazon already feels like a super-powered DPS machine, but now you’re gonna let me DODGE CANCEL OUT OF NECK-SPLITTER and go berserk by parrying?! It’s over.

    • アティ

Means its time to over-kill everything in this game xD

    • Gojira Twit

What this article doesn’t mention is that they also halved her damage. Have fun!

      • No_Limitz

Source? I’ve been reading dengeki and I haven’t found anything about this.

  • MewkaKazami

Did the first patch even make it to the us havent played in a while

    • Linhua

… I believe it did, yes.

… not sure when it did from the initial release of the first patch in Japan, but it seems to come pretty quickly… so here’s hoping that this patch comes just as quickly to America as the last one did.

      … because I REALLY want that Amazon patch… >.> …

… too bad there’s nothing in here for my beloved Elf though… =

      • Gojira Twit

Actually there might be some other improvements hidden in there. Some people are saying Elf’s kicks got buffed.

        • Linhua

… I sure hope that’s not people just spreading their ‘make believe’ disease again… = … I used to do that… out of the desperate desire for something to have improved or gotten better. I would MAKE myself believe it.

    • http://denpanosekai.blogspot.com denpanosekai

      Yes we’re at 1.01.

  • Masa

    more powerful…..what?

  • Skeptika Crediblus

I wouldn’t mind seeing cameos from other Vanillaware game as DLC, but I suppose that’s too much to hope for…

    • Zeonsilt

I will buy my lovely Gwendolyn DLC at day 1 release.(i think some Odin Sphere characters can make an appearance).

      • Skeptika Crediblus

Ditto! Momohime too, for that matter. To add an actual in-game dungeon would require some pretty heavy lifting, but it’d be cool to play through one of the OS worlds again.

      • Kevin Schwarz

I think the OS universe would fit quite well in DC.

  • KuroNathan

    >.> wizards needed a buff? since when?

  • fairysun

With female characters look like they do, we need strong reasons to roll a male character. :D

Another major tweak in Dragon’s Crown is you can progress through the story in offline multiplayer if you and the other characters are at the same point.

Ugh! Thank goodness! We’ve been replaying the same storyline maps over and over to get each other to the same point. Glad they finally fixed this.

  • Arcana Wiz

well i think that they are buffing him to show that he was supposed to be the offesive mage character of the game, cause his damages isn’t much greater than the sorceress.

  • Learii

    anything for fighter?

  • Jonathan Tse

oh boy, Amazon buffs? i think that’s a bit unnecessary, she’s already amazing.

    • Testsubject909

      More amazing never hurts.

  • Solomon_Kano

    My Wizard’s getting better? :D

    • Testsubject909

Yes. Because Wizards obviously needed to be stronger…

I keed, I keed. Actually they did feel like they needed a bit of a boost.

The Wizard has some impressive powerful spell but the strongest spell they have takes quite a bit of time to cast and the damage output isn’t that impressively high comparatively to other highly damaging characters like the Amazon or the Elf, even my Sorceress with her Aerial Major Magic could dish out comparable damage over time.

So I think this might be a good choice overall. I just wonder what the new max MP will be.

And I’m not complaining about the Sorceress’ damage output. It’s consistent and powerful in itself and she’s really more the crowd control character which she can do excellently.

      • Solomon_Kano

Yea, the max MP is what I’m curious about. I haven’t hit the current max yet anyway, but increase is nice nonetheless.

  • InsertOffensiveUsernameHere

Why not letting the Fighter shoot sword beams when his health is full?

  • xXDGFXx

Have they looked over the issue with deep pocket skill reset? I’m down 2x the amount of SP put into level 2 Deep Pocket for my elf because I discovered that I won’t be refunded those points later…. on the internet…

Beat the game with Elf and wanted to try a new build. Elf is my favorite character that I haven’t maxed out yet and the fact that I can’t bring her to the max potential makes it difficult to want to play again…

  • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

Wiz needs a buff, what about Sorc? Wiz outdoes Sorc by a lot. kind of annoy’s me I chose the weak support class when I expected to have a DPS character.
