Square Enix Will Release Diablo III In Japan, But Only For PS3

While Square Enix is best known for their RPGs, they also have a second label called Extreme Edges that localizes Western games for Japan. Most of the Extreme Edges games are Activision titles like Call of Duty or Eidos games. Add Diablo III to that list because Square Enix announced they will publish the console version in Japan.

Diablo III will be fully localized for Japan and is slated for release on PlayStation 3 in 2014. In the West, Diablo III will be released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, so Square Enix is skipping the Xbox 360 version. Diablo III is also interesting since other than their internally developed RPGs like Deus Ex, Diablo III is the only Western RPG on the Extreme Edges label.

    What about PS4?

Well, I guess they haven’t even announced a date for the console yet in Japan…

    • landlock

Well unless they announce aload of Japanese games at the TGS then it’s pretty pointless releasing the PS4 in Japan at the minute the whole line-up is aimed at the western market.

“yoge kusoge” means “western game, shit game”
    that’s what japanese people say
it’s quite suprising they localize this game

    • Pdugna

Well cant blame em the majority of the western audience does the same thing with Eastern games.

Seems like thats what people who don’t keep up with modern gaming say not all Japanese people. If that were true they would stop bringing them over and they would stop selling over there lol.

Seems to me like tastes are a bit lacking there. If true. Which I doubt.

  • KHSoraKeyBlade

I don’t think them skipping the 360 version is any surprise.

  • Nitraion

Kinda intrested because of local multiplayer mode this time…

  • ddh819

would they have separate servers for online multiplayer?

  • Brian Santiago

Skipping the 360 version makes complete financial sense, seeing as 360s in Japan are nowhere near as common as PS3s.
