This is an interesting service, but my main pique of interest is how licensed songs from record labels would land here.

As a lifelong DDR fan, I’m old enough to remember how then-EMI–now a subsidiary of the Universal Music Group/Comcast–is the lion’s share source of all the licensed songs in DDR’s history.

Atomic Kitten? Kylie Minogue? Caesars? MC Hammer? Vanilla Ice? Sheena Easton? JS16? X-TREME (Agostino Carollo)? Pet Shop Boys? Cosmic Gate? Roxette? Duran Duran? Creamy? Kurtis Mantronik? EPMD? All of them signed with then-EMI, before the Universal Music Group/Comcast bought a major percentage of the label.

IIDX fans, primarily speaking, don’t wanna hear this, but guys, remember AVEX? You know, the same Japanese record label that’s the lion’s share source of ALL the licensed music in IIDX? Same premise.

Yes, people, this is the same AVEX that’s the exclusive distributor of Eurobeat/Super Eurobeat in Japan. Yes, Initial D fans, this is the same AVEX that previously flagged “Runnin in the 90s” YouTube uploads in 2008.

This will be interesting to see merely because of the liscensing issues.

…not to mention how Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is signed with Warner Music Japan and her song PONPONPON got featured in pop’n music.
