The Guided Fate Paradox’s Teaches You How To Change Destiny

By Sunjun . September 9, 2013 . 11:21pm

NIS America has shared a new trailer for their roguelike dungeon crawler The Guided Fate Paradox, giving us the first glimpse of Lilliel’s English voice acting. Accompanying her is music by Takaha Tachibana from the gothic rock band Yousei Teikoku (who also performed the opening theme).

The game lets you play as Renya, a high school boy who becomes a god by winning a lottery. As a god, you must grant the wishes of your subjects by entering a Copy World and changing their fates. There several angels other than Lilliel who will help you along the way, and you can equip an absurd variety of items.

The Guided Fate Paradox will be released in North America for the PlayStation 3 on November 5. A limited edition is also available for pre-order from NIS America.

The plot seems like a giant expy of ZHP, but I did enjoy that game, so, don’t mind.

    • Kelohmello

Really don’t see how the plot is like ZHP. The gameplay sure, the plot not so much.

      • burnfist23

Probably in the sense that you’re going into an alternate world to fix everyone’s problems, but that’s like saying all Nippon Ichi games are giant expies of Rhapsody because the main characters have dead parents.

        • Hau To

Disgaea games have dead parents? I beg to differ good sir. In the sense of one parent being dead and the other raising one off on their own onwards on, yes there are dead parents.

      • supervamp

Yeah it’s basically the same in premises really. In zhp you fixed real world problems by fixing them in the demon world and in this you fix real world problems in whatever you go to.

  • M’iau M’iaut

And over time Yuji/Renya shall become far more powerful than Shana/Liliiel. Enough so that the reality known before is known no more.

    • burnfist23

Funny thing, Renya’s Japanese VA is Yuji’s VA.

      • ShadowDivz

I think that’s the joke M’iau was making.

  • Sentsuizan_93

Looks pretty fun. Now then… Better go pre-order.

  • Chim_era

Nippon Ichi take all my money!!! It’s really hard to believe I bought every game of them since La Pucelle Tactics …. and never finished one since then :p

They are just too freaking huge but every time I hope maybe now I’ll make that illusive ending ;)

  • Crazy_O

Already preordered though I don’t care much about the eng voices, but hey good to know for those interested.

  • natchu96

A random dude won a lottery and attained godhood?

NIS games happen in such hilarious universes. You’d think people in the games would wonder if their creator was a troll with all this random stuff happening all the time.

    • Shady Shariest

I’m sure that thought is the only thing keeping Fen-Fe…Fenrich sane :P

  • Rockman

I love Z.H.P gameplay but not the story, this game looks like it will have a better story with better gameplay, totally onboard.

    • supervamp

They have the same sort of crackpot hilarious story lol

      • Rockman

I’m ok with a funny story, but I didn’t like the zettai theme in Z.H.P.

        • supervamp

          Ohhh ok that’s reasonable/

  • No PSN release? I’d love if this came out for Vita instead. Can’t pass it up though just the same, and I want to support them. So much coming out in Oct/Nov/Dec, yeesh.

    • DesmaX

Seeing how Disgaea D2 is already confirmed for PSN release, this should be a given

      • Yeah, you’d think so. Says “disc only” on PSN, but maybe D2 does, too.

        • DesmaX

I think all the games there that aren’t available for purchase (Like, for putting the trailers there) show as “Disc Only”.

I remember them saying in the DD2 livestream they made that it would be available there

          • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

Not necessarily–you’re able to pre-order big name games like GTA V and the like. But Nippon Ichi have a pretty good track record of digital releases. If not day 1, then within the following few weeks.

          • DesmaX

But you can pre-order games on PSN, in which you pay that moment, and download it when it’s available. It’s available for purchase, not for play

          • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

That’s what I meant, on PSN. I’ve never seen a Nippon Ichi game available for PSN pre-order, so I’m not sure if it’s just listed as ‘disc only’ until digital release or not.

    • All PS3 retail games have to have a same-day release on PSN as a digital title as well these days, barring some exceptions. :D

  • Learii

I like her voice is sound nice =D

  • SlickRoach

Already pre-ordered D2 limited edition, and next paycheck (this Friday) I’m gonna pre-order this. Was a huge fan of Z.H.P. so I’m excited for this.

  • 60hz

seems like a roguelike… and i do have a soft spot for roguelikes…

  • Hau To

Um, I don’t like the english voice for Lilliel. It is too calm. Playing the japanese version already, her voice is not that calm. It’s not bad though.

  • Vitonofrio del Rosso

i don’t like the voice acting but GOD! this gives me zhp vibes so HARD!

    • ninjabart122

NIS games are cool since they provide dual voice tracks for the most part. I don’t see why they won’t do it here.

    • Arcana Wiz

NIS games almost always have dual voice, and this IS the spiritual sucessor of ZhP.

  • Göran Isacson

I think a liiittle more emotion would’ve been good in the voice acting, but I gotta admit this looks hella fun.

  • ShadowDivz

I wonder if we will have crazy christians bashing video games now…

  • Vash bane

lv1 99.999 all stats well what would you expect from god lol
