Gaist Crusher Is Like Skylanders Or Disney Infinity, Capcom Style

By Spencer . September 16, 2013 . 1:51am

Gaist Crusher is a big deal to Capcom. Taking a page from Level-5′s playbook, the Treasure-developed 3DS title will expand into an anime, manga, and have figures.

The figures can be used in the game with the Gaifan Cover. This accessory fits on top of a Nintendo 3DS or 3DS XL.

Each Gaimetal set includes two items, a Gaimetal and an Super Activate Gaimetal. The Gaimetal unlocks a special Gaist Gear and the other Gaimetal unlocks a mission.

Gaimetals also transform into a Soul Gaist statue you can put on your desk. Bandai will release the Gaimetal toys in Japan starting in early November, about a month before Gaist Crusher comes out on December 5. Each one costs 998 yen ($10).

Looks pretty neat, and I like how the portal also acts as a part case. I know it says it works for 3DS and 3DSxL but im tryna figure out how it fits the XL. Is there two models or does this one simply expand?

It seems to be a claw shape that you can expand by pulling on both sides

October 2 is the start of it’s anime debut. And I can’t wait to watch it…

That’s quite some time before the game’s release, that means it’s part of their immediate marketing plan instead of a means to extend their reach and legs after a release… >_>

I guess it’s better for any game series to debut after spotlight on television, but I would rather see it the other way around with the core project leading and the merchandise drawing more attention to the project instead of the Defiance formula (a 2013 TV series with a game, the two are connected and the game came out first).

I hope the anime is good. Nothing would be a bigger kill joy than a month of a generic forgettable anime which doesn’t inspire you buy an unproven game, but probably Pokemon like all of the other kids. >_>

I’m really interested in this but the figures look cheap as hell.

All the figurines looks really cool lol. I mean, it is kinda like all kids dream coming true.^_^

I never thought Skylanders looked good. Disney Infinity doesn’t appeal to me. But THIS? This is Treasure we’re talking about. Sign me the f*** up.

  • Rohan Kishibe

    How would this work for a 2DS I wonder…

    • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

I was going to ask that too. Looks like someone didn’t inform them before had… Oops :P

      • British_Otaku

The 2DS isn’t releasing in Japan and the amount of 2DS systems in circulation even in Europe and America is going to be relatively small, so I don’t expect to see merchandise taking it into account as anything but a “kid’s first Nintendo portable”.

Uh-oh… I hope this finds it’s place… There can be only so many figure games on the marked at the same time -_o’

  • BleuVII

Don’t get me wrong; I’m really interested in this game, but every time I read a story about it, it seems like Capcom is quietly whispering, “Please, PLEASE buy this game.” We’ll do anything.

    • MasterScrub

More like “Please, PLEASE buy this game, we’re going bankrupt… unless you’re a filthy foreigner, we don’t want your gaijin money. This game is much too Japanese for you!”

    • InfectedAI

“We’ll do anything.” Except release it outside of Japan.

  • WyattEpp

Oh no, another figure-selling game. This is more interesting to me than the other two, but…

These prices are awfully steep to be coming on top of a full priced game. :/

  • Hraesvelgr

So, with the success of Skylanders and Disney Infinity, will this be the next “big thing” that companies try and fail to mimic the success of?

  • Bigabu Beaze

Hey it beats DLC for the mission and upgrades. You get a cool figure that transforms. Beat that Skylanders!
