Gaist Crusher Reveals Unexpected Sengoku Basara 4 Collaboration

By Sato . September 20, 2013 . 5:28pm

One game is about a group of youths who transform using armaments to protect their city from beasts, and the other is loosely based on historic heroes of the Sengoku era in the history of feudal Japan. Capcom’s new IP, Gaist Crusher, will feature a special Gaist in the form of Sengoku Basara’s Date Masamune.

The trailer starts out with a look at Gaist Crusher’s protagonist Recca Shirogane, who encounters the Tekkou Ryujin, a dragon-type Gaist that appears in Steel City. After showing off some of the game’s monsters and a look at the armament system in action, we also get a look at the “Extreme Form” feature, that powers up our heroes by turning them into beasts, themselves.

Using the armament, weapons, and transformation, will be your key to success in Gaist Crusher. Additionally, players will get to team up with buddies or even fight against them, as part of the game’s multiplayer features.

Towards the end of the trailer, we hear a familiar voice say “Are you ready guys?” one of Sengoku Basara’s Date Masamune’s many quirky English catchphrases.

While Date Masamune won’t be sending hundreds of bodies flying in Gaist Crusher, the collaboration with Sengoku Basara 4 will instead have the “One-Eyed Dragon” as an actual dragon-type Gaist monster, called “Jet Masamune”. Upon defeating the dragon, you can acquire a special Date Masamune armament, fully decked out with his six swords “Dragon’s Claws” as set weapon.

Gaist Crusher is slated for release this winter on Nintendo 3DS. Check out our hands-on impressions straight from Tokyo Game Show here.

Aaaaaand I’m pretty sure that confirms Capcom has zero intention of localizing this new franchise. Having crossovers from games that will never release overseas usually leads to either the content being cut out entirely from localization or just resonates as the very reason it won’t be brought over.

Well Megaman supporters hate Gaist Crusher coz of MML3 engine graphics so it’s okay for them not to get this localized. Those wankers.

      • DanteMasamune

I’m a huge MegaMan supporter and was distraught with Legends 3 cancellation but I won’t take it out on another game (especially it shows promise and looks great) let alone a new IP (Capcom needs more of those and am glad they’re trying new ideas). Same goes for EX Troopers.
I wanted Legends 3 and was upset when it was cancelled but I have tons of other games (some of which are Capcom titles) I want to play and when games gets cancelled plenty of times before I can only stay upset for so long. I just hope for a new MegaMan game one day.

You do realize Mega Man is carrying on in spirit via kickstarter?

          • almostautumn

Megaman, sure, but not MML. Besides, 2D-Megaman wasn’t really so dormant, what with 9/10 and all of the DS titles. It was MML fans were waiting for, but alas…

          • DanteMasamune

True but that is mainly a 2d MegaMan game and its more akin to the Classic series (my least favorite of the 7 MegaMan series).
Plus its not a “MEGAMAN” game its game that contains its spirit/style similar to “Bayonetta and DMC”.
MegaMan (classic) is as basic as a platformer can be I’m more leaning towards a new MMX or MMZX game (but a new MML game is pretty high priority since out of all the 7 series it gets the least attention).

Hey now, don’t generalize all of us MM supporters. I’ve had high hopes for this game since it was first announced. Besides, I tend to perceive Gaist Crusher as an “apology” from Capcom for cancelling all of their MM related projects for the last few years and generally being close-minded jerks to their fanbase(Well, moreso Capcom USA than Capcom Japan). Now, if they renege on their supposedly new stance of being more receptive to consumer demands and don’t even consider this awesome new IP worth localizing to NA, *then* I’ll be truly pissed

If any thing they would just cut it out. That is what capcom did for the Lunar Knights and Starforce crossover event.

  • Göran Isacson

… Now I just want to see someone turn into Hondam. That would sell me a copy of this game, not gonna lie.

  • anthony apduhan

Look at all the hot boys in this series and that theme song OMG can’t wait to watch the anime of this!

  • SilentMC

Hmm I love that Falza-I mean Phoenix Gaist, that’s probably one of the first few I’m gonna give a go.

Hmm if Capcom are doing crossovers, MonHun would be like the next obvious choice. Probably Rathalos armor or something.

Did they mention how these were obtainable (via DLC, or readily available in-game, or via buying those toys)?

    • Ferrick

what about greg- i mean wolf gaist ?

      • Uso Ewin

        Why not both?

  • Ga-ga ga-ga ga-ga ga-gaist Crusha!!!!

Haha well anyway, this seems interesting, it’s giving a MM Starforce+Sengoku Basara+Monster Hunter feel to it. Guess that’s why Masamune’s in it. The need Honda as a boss in this game, that’d be freaking awesome.

  • British_Otaku

There we are, I was saying in the last article titled “Maybe Gaist Crusher Is Meant To Lead Kids Into Capcom Games…” ( ), that they need some cameos and armour sets to lead people to them.

It didn’t save E.X Troopers (brilliant still), but I have an much greater interest in Monster Hunter now.

  • GHAmer

Tadakatsu Honda was more fit to this game than Masamune Date. LOL

  • Solomon_Kano

This is so fudging cool. I already wanted this, but now I want it even more… FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING, LET THIS HIT NA!

    • subsamuel01

I would so play this game, but I can tell that this game is just going to be for Japan.

  • brian

    “Shit! これはクールです!”

  • Rafael Martines

When Megaman meets Gundam meets Digimon

    • MPHavoc

I see it more as “Megaman meets Saint Seiya meets Monster Hunter.” God, how I want this game.

    • Armane

When Gao Gai Gar meets Monster Hunter.

  • BleuVII

“Please, please, please, PLEASE buy this game! We’ll do literally anything.”

  • DanteMasamune

I just recognize something…..sort of like MegaMan Battle Network and MegaMan Starforce this series has an odd theme that the series revolves around in.

Where as Battle Network as a theme in internet, computers, and social media (duh?) as well as link between man and AI and Starforce was electromagnetic energy, bonds, astrology/space, and the world itself this game’s theme seems to be rocking (see what I did there) the minerals, materials, and resources concept (Gaist Metals and how they overuse crystals) and seems to be a polar opposite of Starforce (and I guess Battle Network).

Wow why didn’t I see this sooner?
