Speaking at Tokyo Game Show, Grasshopper Manufacture and GungHo Online Entertainment shared more information about upcoming online action RPG Lily Bergamo, including the current working name of their heroine—Tae Ioroi.

Grasshopper CEO Goichi Suda also dropped a hint on how development plans to go, saying it would be possible for players to play on smartphones by themselves or alongside the previously announced PlayStation 4 version.

That integration will leverage on the strengths of online capabilities, said GungHo Online Entertainment’s CEO Kazuki Morishita, allowing both smartphone and PlayStation gamers to be in “the same world”, but possibly in different sections of it.

Tae lives in the not-so-distant future of 2043, with the exact locale of the game still unannounced. In our previous interview with Suda and GungHo Online Entertainment’s CEO Kazuki Morishita, they hinted that the world draws from both Japan and Western cultures, but have so far declined to say where exactly the story will take place.

On stage for the talk were Grasshopper’s CEO Goichi Suda, game director Nobutaka Ichiki and designer Yusuke Kozaki.

Lily Bergamo is currently set for a 2014 release date, with Suda saying they hope to have a playable version by Tokyo Game Show next year.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dacVmZ7xGx0 i like the aesthetics of the announcement better. yeah same visual but the out of place translator adds something nice to it.

    • Kelohmello

I’m so glad I’m not the only one that thought the translator added something. It adds something… odd, but fitting and slightly surreal and campy to it. Which would be exactly something I’d expect from a Grasshopper game.

yeah, cool trailer took a mouthful to translate the idea of Gekokujou (下剋上) :)

I liked this Toho Godzilla Pacific Rim trailer too..

Seems this is going to be my game of TGS

  • Kevin Schwarz

So basically, all they said is: there is a chance we will release a DEMO next year, the full game is slated next year though…ok.

  • amagidyne

Oh man, that trailer. I hope the soundtrack in the game uses themes like that too.

  • z_merquise

Bergamo is actually a city in Italy. So perhaps one of the game’s locales would set in that place.

Too bad there aren’t any gameplay video for this in TGS. Still, I look forward to this. Trailer looks so cool. Also, I like Yusuke Kozaki’s art so that’s a plus to me too.

  • Sergio Briceño

What’s with all the red and blue in these trailers? Are these supposed to be 3D games? Anyone remember those old red blue 3d glasses?

  • Göran Isacson

Huh. So we got japanese traditional music, what looks like a demon in samurai armor, quick shots of the MC’s boobs and butt in focus, the game is named after an italian city, aaand it’s also online. That’s a hella lot of elements that can end up terrible or very well together, so I guess all that’s left now is to wait and see which is which…

  • Vash bane

oh great now there is three reasons for me to get a ps4 now…I see two more games then ah frak it lol

  • Kazkari

This is a good day today, Suda’s new game. One amazing reason to buy a PS4, not sure about the smartphone stuff though.
