Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 Is Getting A Vita Remake Too

By Spencer . September 22, 2013 . 11:10pm

image The "Re;Birth 1" at the end of Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 was already a clue that more Neptunia games were going to be remade. Compile Heart officially announced Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 2 which is a PlayStation Vita remake of Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2. The game’s name is temporary, but it’s in development.

Also, Compile Heart will start revealing details about the Noire spinoff, Hyper Goddess Creed Noire: Planet Destroyer Black Heart, in the November issue of Dengeki PlayStation.

…”Buy VITA” is the message hidden in here :3

    • KonniSekai

I see what you meant, ‘cuz they’ve got me

      • Shady Shariest

And i will follow come next year and summer job :3

  • TrueDefault

    What? Why? It’s already perfect…

    • ヴァルラシュ

ugly 3d models? terrible framerate? painful story?

      • brian

At least the 3D models are cute, and less creepy than the 2D portraits.

        • DyLaN

You call those 3D model to be cute yet you condemn the sprites…..

          I can’t.

          • brian

The portraits like that in a lot of Compile Heart games are creepy to me because they’re 2D, but they breathe and breathing generally involves moving in some form within a 3D plane.
In other words, they move like ragdolls.

edit: don’t get me wrong, they’re still cute but really creepy in game.

      • TrueDefault

I liked it! It’s silly and entertaining, what I’d call a flawed perfection, but I’m easy to please.

      • s07195

Framerate is fair game. The story and 3D models I thought were okay.

    • AxionAzure

If they think it’ll sell, then they might as well just make it.

  • http://truner.beluva.hu/ Truner Razer

“Cliché” and “generic” this series might be, as well as complete “moeshit” and overall “terrible” (or so I hear), I’m very, very “okay” with this! :D
The more Neps we get, the better.
Or should I say “In Neps we trust”?

    • AxionAzure

You must have read lots of my comments if you’re quoting my: “In [add name here] we trust.” I’m flattered ;)

      • http://truner.beluva.hu/ Truner Razer

I actually don’t know who you are or that you use this, but good to see I’m not the only one liking that phrase! :D

  • Ladius

I can see them reintroducing 2d portraits and updating the battle system to Victory’s, which could be good even if Mk2 didn’t really need a remake (not that an handheld version is a bad thing, obviously). Personally I would also appreciate removing a certain boss from existance, but I guess that’s unlikely :P

  • jujubee88

Are these the same people that did Blackrock Shooter? I’ve heard the PSP one was good (never played it though), but I wonder about a remake or sequel on VITA.

    • http://truner.beluva.hu/ Truner Razer

Black Rock Shooter: The Game was done by Imageepoch. They worked on games like 7th Dragon (and its sequels), Fate/Extra and Time and Eternity. However they didn’t work on any Hyperdimension Neptunia games. Also, you should really try the game, it’s very good (as well as my favorite game on the PSP). I don’t think a remake or a sequel is going to happen though. :/

      • jujubee88

        ty!

  • X14

Definitely need to switch to the 2D portraits. Maybe allow for the other candidates to be recruited quicker, like with what re;birth1 is doing with the goddesses and I can see them removing a certain ending.

I really hope that ending is removed.

  • Varnes

This happens after i buy all the PS3 versions XD… oh well still gonna get these lol

  • DriftSlave

Looks like Complie Heart is confident in the Nep V battle system to remake the first two games with it. I don’t mind this really, however I’m interested if Noire’s game might play like Fairy Fencer f or have it’s own mechanics.

One could only image if “Lonely Heart” will play through most of her game solo~ lolz

Edit: does anyone else find it abit trolly that Noire’s game isn’t on her console personification but rather her sister Uni since she counts for both PSP and Vita.

    • Tyler Beale

Not just the battle system – they seem to be recycling EVERYTHING but the story, some monsters, and character designs.

      • DyLaN

A reminder, CH still counts as a niche dev and I doubt they have the AAA level of budget.

        • ZekeFreek

They barely have a niche budget.

  • Sentsuizan_93

*looks at platinum trophy for mk2*
    …Should I platinum this again?
But I wonder what changes would be made from the original mk2? The battle system in that game was fine. (Well… for me at least.)
Maybe Victory’s battle system might be used but I’ll wait to hear more.

  • Tyler Beale

I’m looking forward to the day where they make the retro Neptunia game they keep teasing during every game’s staff rolls. Cross-buy/save with PS3, too!

    • Ladius

Apparently Noire’s spin off will feature super deformed characters, so we can still hope :)

      • refrain

Its not. The chibi figures are called Nepgure are bonus for the LE of the Noire game. Not that the game models are SD

  • Randy Marsh

Oh god no, they’re touching the only good; and my favorite, game in the series!

Please, just make this port fix some issues of the original. Just make the port have the upgraded models from Victory and just fix the FR issues. Don’t touch the battle system at all, I don’t want Mk2′s battle being reduce to pure button mashing like the first game and Victory’s battle system.

    • AnimeRemix

Is Neptunia V gameplay really that bad compared to Mk2? I haven’t touched Mk2 in quite awhile and have been picking up V every now and then, so yeah, I really wouldn’t know the main things that make Mk2 superior than V in the gameplay department.

  • Anonymous

The best game is getting a remake, But honestly, I doubt it would be as good as the PS3 version, Since mk2 battle system was better than Victory, And they would probably take the 3D models

  • refrain

Btw, the name is wrong. Not hyperdimension but Nextdimension. Its ji jigen not chou jigen like the PS3 games

  • artemisthemp

Looking forward to hearing more about the Noire game.

Guess we should expect a Re; Birth 3 in the future.

  • Time Sage

Dang it, I just picked up MK2 a couple months ago.

    • katzedan

me too. But at least for me it’s okay since I don’t have a PSVita xD

  • Pdugna

Huh? guess i wont ever need to buy the ps3 versions once these are localized in NA

  • Göran Isacson

Huh. I’m curious now: as someone who played the first on a dare and regret it to this day, I was under the impression that the second game was a complete continuity reboot and fixed a lot of stuff of the original game. As such a remake of the first seemed like a good idea, but the second? It kinda feels like they’re moving a bit too fast. remaking a game that needed remaking and possibly rewriting the story to match with the second game, that sounds legit, but if they’re going to remake the second game to then… why would anyone want to play the first game if that games story won’t really go anywhere, and the sequel will wash it all away?

    • Anesia Hunter

Because each game takes place in a different dimension. Some people like the whole same characters, multi-verse sort of thing. Infact, a lot of comic books are like that and have been for a long time. Plus, this way they can just keep adding new characters or do whatever they to the series.

      • Göran Isacson

Huh. But I heard that the third game, Victory, is a sequel to the second game that uses the same characters as the second. Was that just misinformation?

        • Anesia Hunter

It does have the same characters and they added new ones. However, as far as I know, there’s never been a direct connection between each game. In fact, the last game has an ending that takes place in another different dimension.

    • D H

So, I take it you don’t see a point in playing any Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest game, then? Sure, the playable characters may not be the same, but you’re going to see a ton of repeated ideas/templates/character designs/whatever else, the of course the story is going to “wash” away everything from the previous ones.

The first game has a complete story of its own. It’s not like it ended on an unresolved cliffhanger. There are no story rewrites to connect with something it wasn’t s’posed to be connected to. Also, whether remake or straight port, I welcome the game to come to more systems, because not everybody that wants to play it may have the system required to do so, and depending on how many games are on said system, there may not be enough to justify dropping the price of a system.

      • Göran Isacson

But Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest are whole new stories with whole new characters, whereas Neptunia are the same characters. And if the games play more or less the same, AND the second game apparently continues into that Victory game. So it’s kinda like the first game is a complete stand-alone that doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the rest of the series, and in that case why couldn’t they just start with rereleasing the second game first?

I admit you have a point about the systems though, having a whole series available on one platform is a good way to build fandom good will.

  • WhyWai

looking forward for the Noire spinoff!

  • pimpalicious

I wouldn’t mind having mk2 portable, I hope they keep the battle system intact and not change it be like Victory. Either way I’ll get it though. I think these are a given to be localized.

  • http://www.segalization.com/ Kuronoa

Probably pass this one, I am playing the PS3 version right now. I’ll get the first game Vita title though.

  • Aristides

Awesome! yet expected :P Now for Re-N1 localization!

  • http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/21421.html?type=4 Kashell

This was one of the more surprising games I’ve played. The battle system was more fun, and the characters were even more enjoyable this time. Also, the Conquest Ending took me by surprise. I was not expecting that to happen.

  • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

Noire is pleased to be getting her own game =^_^=

  • ZekeFreek

I really don’t get the hate for Nepgear, I really don’t. I honestly think she’s pretty much the only character who actually develops a little. Maybe that’s why you all hate her? /:|

    • DyLaN

Conquest ending. (Or so I heard)

      • ZekeFreek

So they hate her for her actions in a completely non-canon bad ending that was caused by player choice? That’s the shittiest reasoning I’ve ever heard.

  • Monterossa

Great!! Mk2 is my most fav since I’m a fan of Nepgear.

  • zazza345

The most important news (which is absent but present in the Dengeki Online recap) is the announcement of a new game of the series. No date, name or platform were announced.

  • Brotato Chip

Was okay with everything in the game besides the 3d cut-scenes.

  • Neppygear

Mk2 doesn’t really need an overhaul like Nep1, since it’s pretty ballin to begin with, but I won’t say no to portable Nepgear.

  • Demeanor

Nep2 was already plenty good (and Platinum’d to boot), so if they want a buy this time they better prepare some amazing remake-worthy new mechanics :) a simple port to NepV engine won’t cut it for me :P

  • AnimeRemix

Next thing you know, we’ll end up getting a remake of Neptunia V on the Vita.

  • AkiraScare

a game with just Noire!!!? awesome cant wait… but wat will it be for ps4? or vita…. i hope its for the ps4(^_^)

    • AshSatoshi

Confirmed for the Vita when it was initially announced.
