Square Enix is teaming with Japan telecom company DoCoMo to bring Dragon Quest X to smartphones and tablets. After the announcement was made, Famitsu got a hands on with Dragon Quest X running on a dTab device.

Dragon Quest X is cloud enabled with the game running on a cluster of servers and data streamed to devices. The cloud version is based on the PC release and has reworked controls to support touchscreen devices.

Dragon Quest X for iPhone, iPad, and tablets is slated for release this winter.

Was hoping to read: “Here’s Dragon Quest X running in english.”

Wait, what do you mean “game running on a cluster of servers and data streamed to device.” You aren’t implying that the tablet isn’t running the game itself, but merely streaming the visuals from SQ’s servers, right? In other words, streaming the game and having SQ’s machines and servers doing all of the graphics processing…

That’s exactly what they’re saying. Impressive.

Well, we can’t really expect the tablet to process a huge game (an MMO on top of that).

Has there been any official statement from anyone at SE regarding a localization of this.

I mean even something like some exec assistant saying something like, “We don’t see the demand in the west.” Or “We are looking into it.”

It’s just I haven’t heard of anyone asking whats the deal or any response either.

no dragon quest love lately.. hoping DQVII would come to 3ds not coming anytime soon,

running on mobile device is great, but I don’t think that will help Square Enix that much… just because they probably have already saturated the Japanese market… what they really need is to get this title in English…

What the heck is a dTab?
