Dammit! I can’t see her boobs!

Lu Bu’s daughter??? She looks hot…..of course she does.

    • VietKnight

Do you really need to? At least they added a new girl character in the game since the last one was Guan Yinping and Zhang Chunhua

      • DanteMasamune

It was mainly a little joke. Considering the amount of females in this series I’m not surprised or phased although the amount of dudes does outshine them (then considering the large character roster and the fact its based off of historical figures and history its probably not in their control of the male/female ration).

  • Sardorim

I knew it, I knew she would get in!

  • Luis Camargo

If she is like her father on the battlefield……I will be running……fast…..

  • NightzeroAX

Lu Bu already throws a fit when you defeat Diao Chan, I guess when you defeat his daughter he gets some sort of power boost that one shots you :/

    • Sardorim

Or Koei will taunt shippers and have Zhang Liao get a power boost when she’s defeated.

    • Raze

      No thank you…

Even his no stagger thing is already pissing me off…

    • Testsubject909

Imagine if someone tries to flirt with his daughter.

  • Zangetsu777

HOLY $HIT HE HAS A DAUGHTER NOW.

    • Ixbran

Lu Bu has always had a daughter. shes just never played a role in the DW series before. though she has appeared in the Dynasty Tactics and ROTK series.

      • Sardorim

Don’t forget Dynasty Tactics 2 which is her most famous appearance before this one!

      • Aunna Terrell

She was in the carriage you had to protect/destory at the Battle of Xiapi in DW4. But we never got to see her.

        • Ixbran

ohhh that’s right, his daughter was in DW4. Though her never specifically said to be Lu Lingqi, lol.

still good to have her though.

    • Dark Zerato

As i remember, she’s only mentioned once in the novel.

      • Mr_SP

Historically, about twice. In both, of course, she never fights and is only used a marital bargaining chip.

Not that Dynasty Warriors is about historical context and realism.

      • Sardorim

Her only mentions anywhere is that Lu Bu wanted to pawn off his young daughter to Yuan Shu but ultimately failed after the second attempt.

She was than taken in by Cao Cao to live at the capital along with the rest of Lu Bu’s family after Cao Cao executed Lu Bu.

From there she lived the rest of her life as a Wei citizen and was trated fairly as Cao Cao bore no grudge against Lu Bu. After all, Cao Cao did initially want to recruit Lu Bu but Liu Bei talked him out of it.

  • Ixbran

Heads up everyone, her weapon is the Cross Halberd, the weapon Lu Bu had in DW6.

    • NightzeroAX

Thats lame :/ I didn’t really care for that moveset in Strikeforce (didn’t play 6). Is she listed under other or is she in Wei?

      • Ixbran

… why on earth would she be in Wei?

with Lu bu getting his own story mode in DW8XL, chances are shes going to be an Others character to be part of his story.

        • NightzeroAX

          See sardorim’s comment..

        • Sardorim

Well Zhang Liao is Wei yet he will have a big part in Lu Bu’s story. So being labelled “Others” isn’t a requirement for Lu Bu time.

          • Mr_SP

Yeah, but Zhang Liao spends a decade in service to, or in service with, Lu Bu, and two decades in Cao Cao’s. Being part of Others isn’t a requirement for Lu Bu time, but Zhang Liao has overwhelmingly been a member of a Wei camp.

Lu Bu’s daughter, on the hand, had never lifted a sword for Cao Cao, and only lifts a sword in popular culture, such the RotTK videogames… where she is a devout Lu Bu loyalist. So while there is reason to make her an Other character, there is little reason to think that she will join Wei, let alone be significant enough to be part of Wei the whole time. The same principle applies to Sun Shang Xiang – even if she marries Liu Bei, she’s not a Shu character.

          • NightzeroAX

After Lu Bu’s death in ROTK did she try to assassinate Cao Cao?

          • PoweredByHentai

No, Lu Bu’s lineage died with him. There were no survivors from his immediate family.

          • Sardorim

Actually false. Cao Cao took in Lu Bu’s family after Lu Bu’s death, which includes Lu Lingqi and in fiction – Diao Chan, and lets them live in the Capital in peace.

          • PoweredByHentai

Lu Lingqi is NOT a real person, it is a fake name that people attributed to Lu Bu’s daughter centuries after the whole conflict.

          • Sardorim

Lu Bu still had a daughter and she did outlive her father. She was also taken in, with the rest of Lu Bu’s family, to live at the Capital by Cao Cao.

So her name being Lu Lingqi or not is irrelevant as that’s the name she’s going to be using here.

          • PoweredByHentai

Lu Bu had a daughter, sure. That daughter did not survive the immediate conflict. I don’t know what historical records you use but the Sanguozhi lists her as a casualty in the aftermath of the Cao vs Lu conflict.

Lu Bu’s branch of the Lu family was pretty much exterminated right then and there.

            EDIT:
Where you are mistaken is with Chen Gong’s daughter. Chen Gong’s daughter definitely survived the conflict and was taken in by Cao Cao. Lu Bu’s family, however, was completely executed.

          • JJ♛ #MyLipGlossisPoppin

Not true. It states in the ROTK book that they were taken to the capital. Want proof? Check chapter 20 on http://www.threekingdoms.com/020.htm

Both Lu Bu and Chen Gong’s families were taken in.

Only “Lu Lingqi” in the ROTK game dies the same year, likely the same time, as her father, but this is Dynasty Warriors we are talking about. We don’t know what her fate will be, but it is likely that she’ll either disappear or die at Xiapi after being defeated.

There is no historical proof on her fate. At least not in English.

          • Sardorim

Lu Lingqi was very young when Lu Bu died, she spent the rest of her life under Wei even if she didn’t serve them.

She also technically never served Lu Bu. She was just his daughter that he considered pawning off to Yuan Shu.

So saying Lu Lingqi never lifted a sword for Cao Cao is baseless as she never lifts a sword for Lu Bu either.

Futthermore SSX in History/Novel is tricked back to Wu by a plot and spends the rest of her life in Wu. Thus it makes no sense for her to be Shu.

          • Mr_SP

So, being the daughter of Lu Bu, but not the subordinate of anyone else, who we know so little about that we don’t know what happens to her after her death, whether she lived in Wei or not, or even if she lived long, qualifies her to be considered part of the forces of Wei, which is restricted to those people who served Wei in a military capacity? I do not think so.

By default, she belongs to “The group of people that did not serve Shu, Wei, Wu, or Jin”. Which is “Other”.

          • Sardorim

She wasn’t a subordinate of Lu Bu’s ever. She was his daughter, that was it. A daughter he was willing to pawn off at the first chance he could but than got cold feet.

She spent a very small amount of her life living under her Father’s rule while she spent nearly all lof her life living under Cao Cao’s rule.

She she was a Wei Citizen, more so than she was a Lu Bu citizen since his rule was short lived.

          • Mr_SP

She was a member of Lu Bu’s family. This is the only affiliation she has with anyone, and not an insignificant one. (Especially considering the Confucian sentiment of loyalty to one’s father.) If being a citizen of Wei even mattered, then Meng Huo, a citizen of a Shu-ruled state both before and after his rebellion, would be Shu. But because he never served Shu in a military capacity, he’s on his own side – the Other side. No matter how long she lived in a nation ruled by Wei, she never served Cao Cao in any capacity worthy to be recorded. There is no reason to place her among the Wei forces, nor to feature her in any battle on Wei’s side.

Which is not to say that she will not appear in any Wei battle, but it would be secondary to her affiliation with Lu Bu, and would require either her or Lu Bu to be painted as a villain in order to get her on the same side as her father’s executioner.

This is even worse when compared to Koei’s previous usage of Lu LIngqi, in Dynasty Tactics, where she is clearly very strongly aligned with, and loyal to, Lu Bu.

      • Sardorim

Most likely she will be listed as Other even though she outlives her father and Cao Cao lets Lu Bu’s family live in peace and luxury after Lu Bu’s death at his capital.

    • Raze

      I like that one

  • Ladius

Looks like they really intend to flesh out Lu Bu’s story mode, that’s interesting. Speaking of “Others” characters, I would like to see more about Yuan Shao and his family, even if they’re probably disliked by the fanbase since they’re painted as villainous, arrogant aristocrats.

My dream, as far as “Others” scenarios go, is still a completely wacky and anti-historical “what if” mode in which the Han Emperor Xian takes action directly (maybe in incognito) to make the warlords reconsider their action :P That was the theme of my last campaign in DW7 Empires, and I had a blast.

  • Aoshi00

It’s Lu Lingqi 呂玲綺 :P… at least it’s a real girl, not guy being turned into a girl lol..

    • Testsubject909

      You talking about Zhang He?

      No wait…

      • Aoshi00

Lol..nah I meant ikki tousen, sangokushi rumble, koihime musou, the umpteenth game that turned the generals moe.. Rumble even has two genders for each char :(…at least guys are still guys here, with king Arthur, Holmes, etc, only a matter of time we have girls as American presidents..

        • Ni ~UNREAL BLACK THINGS~

Well, some of the personification like Arthuria in F/SN and some girls in ikkitousen were cool. but stuff like koihime musou wasn’t imo

          • Aoshi00

I just think it’s too much sometimes when you get Nobunaga and Three Kingdoms all turned into moe girls.. and now personification of WW2 battleships after consoles in Neptunia.. I’m just not sure what’s the fascination of it.. what next Washington, Bill Clinton, George W Bush, etc?

I’m all for some alternate history in video games, but now w/ anything and everything turned into cute chicks, no thanks.. at least Arthur and Holmes they just got turned into bishounen.. and it was well done w/ the Houshin Engi manga.

          • Ni ~UNREAL BLACK THINGS~

i don’t get the fascination too. This why i’m less and less interested in anime and japanese games culture. The gundams musume in 90s problaby opened the doors for this stuff while the start of moe craze in 2006 helped to boost that moe overload that we are getting now. thanks that manga and light novels have alot more variety and are not beign taken from this thing (even though there is a huge number of moe light novels).

  • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 禍津水木

    That’s pretty cool

  • YoshEE

Lu Lingqi look awesome. I am kind of happy that Others force is getting more chars now.

    • Sardorim

Technically she could be Wei, even though she’ll be labelled Others, as Cao Cao takes her in and she lives at the capital with her family in peace after Lu Bu is executed.

      • YoshEE

True, but I still like it that way.

      • Mr_SP

What is that even based on? In the novels, she doesn’t even have a name. I doubt they’d give even a single line to say that.

        • Sardorim

Lu Lingqi did exist, she just went by another name.

Cao Cao took Lu Bu, and Chen Gong’s, family in and treated them well after Lu Bu and Chen Gong’s death.

          • Mr_SP

She didn’t have a name that was ever recorded. It was never mentioned in the novels, nor in the histories. Historically, the fate of her and her mother is unknown. In the novel, her fate is unmentioned.

Cao Cao does order Chen Gong’s family to be treated well, but no word is spoken of Lu Bu’s. Not to mention, that was at Chen Gong’s begging Cao Cao for his mother and wife’s safety after his death, while Lu Bu does not speak of his, nor beg. While some presumption could be made that Cao Cao took in Lu Bu’s family, his taking in of Chen Gong’s was implied to be specifically as a result of Chen Gong’s dignity when facing his death, which Lu Bu did not show. While it is possible to say that Cao Cao spared Lu Bu’s family, (though considering the times, it’s probably quite unlikely to assume that Cao Cao would without the proper motivation) there is no reason to believe that he set them up in the capital as he did for Chen Gong’s.

    • Zak Ledward

Originally I thought DW8: XL was going to be a waste of money due to only new MALE characters were getting added in…I was wrong

    • Ixbran

Now people can shut up about her possibly being in Wei.

      Yay for more Others characters.

      • NightzeroAX

        Wow so harsh lol.

      • Sardorim

        No need to be harsh.

If Koei wanted they could easioly have her follow Zhang Liao into Wei in DW9 after Lu Bu’s death as she does outlive him and Cao Cao treats them well enough.

Cao Cao could have exterminated Lu Bu’s family after he defeated him. He didn’t, despite how much Lu Bu angered him. That says a lot about his character. Cao Cao also took care of Chen Gong’s family too.

        • Ixbran

regardless, shes still classified as an Others, meaning chances are she wont serve anyone but her father in game.

True they could have gone the route of Zhang Liao, and have her be part of Wei, but they chose not too do that.

It doesn’t matter what they Could have done, what matters is what they Did do. Shes an Others, plain and simple. Which is good because the Others section needs more characters.

Now all we need is for them to bring back the characters introduced in Strikeforce2 and then we will have all the cut characters back.

          • Rayhan PromisedGallery

you know that Strikeforce 2 characters (Shi Huangdi, Xiang Yu, Yu MAiren, etc) didn’t live during three kingdoms era, right?

          • Ixbran

yea, and? they are still DW Characters. they could easily be included as Others characters.

Remember how in DW6, Lu Bus story mode ended with Yuan Shao, Dong Zhuo, and Zhang Jiao coming back from the dead to stop him?

Yea, with the Hypothetical Story Lines they included in DW8, they could easily do something similar with Xiang Yu, Yu Meiren, Xi Wangmu, and Zhou Muwang.

          • Sardorim

Koei doesn’t even add in Nu Wa or Fu Xi in Others anymore for the mainline DW games.

The Others in Strikeforce 2 at most would appear in a WO game as it’s pointless for Koei to revamp those character and given them full fledged movesets and the such when they wouldn’t even appear in story or hero scenarios with the rest of the cast.

          • Sardorim

            Your point being what exactly?

Even if she’s still Others it doesn’t stop her appearing in Wei story and stages after Lu Bu’s death if Koeio wants her to as they have the means to make it happen.

As Zhang Liao has proven, you don’t need to be Others to appear as an Others character or to be playable as Others. As per DW5 and now DW8XL where he’ll be a big part of Lu Bu’s story mode.

          • Mr_SP

While true, it’s also unreasonable to assume that she will serve the man who executed her father. It would be a betrayal of her family duties, which the Japanese would not easily approve of, even without considering the behaviour of the Chinese in those days.

    • Warboss Aohd

      a skirt again?

  • leingod

I bet the november dates are just for the japanese version? :/

  • Ixbran
    • Testsubject909

Sweeet. And she has feathers like daddy!

    • windrincar

I see that her weapon is her father’s weapon back in Dynasty Warriors 6

  • Ni ~UNREAL BLACK THINGS~

day one here because of two reasons:
    1) Lu Bu’s daughter
    2) Cross halberd

In the future: “Do not pursue Lu Bu’s daughter!”

    • s07195

      Wise words….

  • XiaomuArisu

by the gods…..There are two of them now!!!!

  • alixraen

So as someone who hasn’t played DW since 1 and wants to get back into the series, should I go for this or for vanilla 8?

    • Ixbran

Dynasty Warriors: Xtreme Legends titles are basically disk expansions of the base game. you wont have access to any of the content of the first game without the disk.

But they are releasing DW8XL in a combo pack called Dynasty Warriors 8 + Xtreme Legends. and basically what it is, is the disk version of 8XL with a code to download the base game onto your system. the 8XL Disk automatically loading it up when you pop it into the PS3

if you’d prefer to wait till 8XL comes out, get the combo pack. if your a little impatient and wanna try DW8 before getting 8XL, you can buy it in retail stores anywhere. Its a lot of fun, to me anyway. If you do get it, I hope you enjoy it.

      • alixraen

The combo pack sounds mighty convenient, so I’ll probably just wait a bit for that. Thanks for the helpful info!

        • Ixbran

the DLC for DW8 will be made compatible for DW8XL. so once you get DW8+XL combo pack, and the save data for both installed, you can download the DLC for both games, and they will show up in 8XL.

  • MrJechgo

Aaaaaaaand a “Ina vs Lu Lingqui” rivalry has been spotted for the next Warrior Orochi game XD

What…? Tadakatsu Honda is to Samurai Warriors as Lu Bu is to Dynasty Warriors: big guys with big weapons who are essentially walking bulldozers that even come with their own respective theme music and who also happen to be a father of a young female warrior.

  • fairysun

    What is this?
We already know who will be Lu Bu daughter.
    Or Lu Bu itself. :P

    Joke aside
I wonder what her popular comment would be.
“Can nobody provide my father a decent challenge?”
