Your Fave Neptunia Girl Is Now On Your Android Phone

Love Neptunia’s parody cast of consoles personified as Goddesses fighting it out? Have an Android phone? You’re in luck. In Japan, there’s a widespread deal called kisekae, which is essentially a reskin of your entire interface, wallpapers and so forth into a unified theme. It’s very cool, and has featured everything from Dragon’s Quest to Peanuts.

Compile Heart have just released the latest set of Android themes for the series for Android phones (Sorry Apple fans, you’re outta luck) that essentially carries on the tradition. A pack will run 525 yen (About $5) a pop.

The two latest ones let buyers access either the Leanbox (aka Xbox) or Lowee (aka the Wii) theme sets, which each come with three of the series’ characters. Leanbox’s comes with Hakozaki Chika, Green Heart (Vert’s transformed form) and Vert. Lowee’s comes with sisters Rom and Ram, Blanc and Nishizawa Mina.

If you decide to plonk the cash down for a theme, it’ll change your background wallpaper, lock screen, app screen, indicator, home icon and search bar.

There’s also the Lastation (PlayStation), Planeptune (Sega’s doomed Neptune system) theme packs and a Free pack (Which only changes your lock screen and wallpaper, but it’s free!)

Gah! I want that blanc theme but I have an iphone :<

I guess I'll just have to make due with noire waking me up every morning.

  • gustave154

Gag i have an iphone too *cries*

  • Would love to have that Vert theme.

  • Leon_Tekashi

So…Lets see if Japan can demand enough to get them to make some sort of Iphone version.

    • Cazar

It’s likely Android exclusive for a reason. Not possible on iOS without a jailbreak.

      • Tyler Beale

True, but CH and NISA could at least update the iOS app to add Blanc, Vert, and Purple/Black/White/Green Hearts.

Actually, this has been done on iOS too, with an Angel Beats! app – it’s a paid app which has a bunch of wallpapers based on the anime series bundled together, which you can save to your Camera Roll and do whatever with it.

Finally something that is not for the iphone :P I have an android… (^_^)

So there’s a… Lastation one too… :D and I’m NOT here for Kei, obviously! XD
EDIT: snatched the Noire-chan one of course!!! XD

That’d be $5.99 in CAD for me.

Actually it just means NISA have to green light Android version development

  • Saculogir

Now we need a Pururut + Peashy version :D

I wonder why my Nexus 7 is incompatible?

  • TrueDefault

The free theme is not bad but I can no longer change the icon and move shortcuts in my home folder around. Anyway, I hope they release Iffy theme too!

    • s07195

If they had an IF theme, I’d definitely get that.

  • Veryl7

Its quite nice ^^. Bought the Blanc set, it took a while to get it to work, but it was worth it in the end. Thanks Eugene!

  • Doesn’t the iPhone have that one Neptunia app that’s like a digital organizer or something? In Japan it launched on Android, then on the iPhone. It was released in English but for the iPhone only.

I thought this was that but it’s apparently something different.

  • Radiosity

Huh, surprisingly these work on anything from 2.1 up, excellent (I still have an older 2.2 phone). I shall have Ram on my phone, oh yes.

  • I’m glad it’s not for iOS, but I just looked around the Play Store and couldn’t find it. I’m guessing my phone needs to be from Japan?

    • Darkrise

Did you type in english to search? Cuz obviously it won’t show up.

15-20 years ago, a popular thing with the Internet anime community was “kisekae” or “KISS”, which was basically an app that loaded a “paper doll” of a character, with a bunch of interchangable costumes you could drag on and off of them to play dress up.

I guess the name makes sense here too, since both are basically just reskinning. In Japanese it refers to changing a doll’s clothes.

Thanks for the wonderful memories…I discovered kisekae in the early to middle 2000s (I don’t remember the exact date), so I was way too late to the party, but man, I enjoyed very much playing with these paper dolls.

Anyone know how to change the lock screen too? I seem to have trouble with it. Got a Galaxy S3 btw.
EDIT: nevermind, figured it out, you need to access the Lock Screen menu in Options and then set the lock to None, that way it’ll be replaced by a Neptunia image with a slidebar like the one on iPod touch. So basically the home image of the kisekae includes a lock screen image too.

I really like a Blanc set, she is so cute :D
