Fairy Fencer F Ships 100,000 Copies For Launch

By Eugene . October 8, 2013 . 3:02pm

Compile Heart’s RPG Fairy Fencer F will be available on October 10th in Japan, and retail shop blog Sinobi, a solid bellweather for games in Japan, reports that the game has already gotten a fair number of pre-orders.

Some 50,000 copies for the game’s limited edition have been moved already, said the blog, after strong pre-order sales, which Sinobi attributes partly to the game being a new IP. That has apparently entirely sold out Compile Heart’s entire stock of limited editions.

Similarly, another 50,000 copies of the normal edition have also been reported by Sinobi to be shipped, bringing the total to 100,000 copies of the game shipped for launch. It should be interesting to see how Fairy Fencer F sells at launch, considering that it does look a little more ambitious than Compile Heart’s previous efforts.

    Good figures there…
*looks at Idea Factory International and NIS pleadingly*

  • No need to wish anymore. I’m convinced that this will be localized in the not to distant future. Thank you Compile Heart, and Based NISA in advance! =^_^=

    • xAtKx

    • Would rather have XSEED, NISA doesn’t do well on Subs

    • Dark Zerato

This could be the new IF branch first game.

  • Eclipse

Wow, those are some pretty impressive numbers.

I really hope that this ends up being successful for Compile Heart <3

    • Normally when a game does really well in Japan the chances of localizing it are greater

      • Leon_Tekashi

We got this then. FFF is already coming to us!

      • Federico Astica

        Like FF Type-0, right?

  • Oh man I’m really happy for them. That’s an impressive number for the time this is getting released in.

  • DesmaX

    Oh, shipped. Fair enough.

I would be surprised if this end up selling more than any Neptunia game… But I guess the anime drawn attention to IF as a whole?

  • MrTyrant

I want this game because science.

    • You just like Harler

      • Dark Zerato

        He likes PLOT.

    • Servant BerserCAR

I seconded. What we can do without science?

  • malek86

So we are gonna need look at some sell-through ratio when it comes out.

  • Xaltmas

I was kind of interested at first because of Amano and Uematsu, but eh. I don’t think I have it in me to play it.

    • Same. Some great people on the team and interesting enough concepts in the game, but ultimately; I’m not feeling it that much.

I’m interested in how it does and how it’ll be received though~.

    • DyLaN

Acc to ppl who got the early copies, it strengthen the idea tht its a generally serious game with some comedic moment in between as they said “goes in a completely different direction compared to Nepu”. Just some points for you to consider.

      • Xaltmas

It’s the art style. I hate it. I expected different when Amano was announced to be working with the team, not a game that looks exactly like Neptunia.

        • DyLaN

……..I will spare you my opinion on Amano artstyle.

So artstyle is everything nowadays? Plot/characters don’t matter anymore? Gameplay?

And be glad tht it doesn’t look like Higurashi/Umineko VN sprites. After experiencing that I’d take anything that look somewhat decent lol.

          • Xaltmas

It’s being made by Compile Heart. If I want a good story, I’m sure Drakengard 3 will provide, and Dark Souls II will for good gameplay.

I was only interested in the project based on Amano and Uematsu. The art style is clearly nothing special, given their previous games look the same. Maybe the soundtrack will be nice?

  • Raika Souku

We just love limited edition item man even i would order like 3 of it

  • British_Otaku

That’s pretty huge numbers given that the last article related to it had me assuming that Danganropa was going to do great and that this might do okay. It is more or less set for the second spot this week, if Monster Hunter 4 continues to have legs.

does this game have a decent world map (like old tales and FFs)?

    • DesmaX

      lol, nope

    • How would anyone know that when the game isn’t out

i don’t know. trailers and information that the company release about the game?

      • DesmaX

Main trailer showed world map (Same thing as their other games)

    • zazza345

It hasn’t. It has a 3D overview (a first for a CH game) but no overworld.

  • Flandre Scarlet

I guess it’s not too surprising given the names associated with it and the fact it has a male protagonist surrounded by cute girls.

    • Dark Zerato

If the game has all female casts, i bet it would sell better.

      • Ultimate Gattai

Need I remind you of the Neptunia series… Oh wait.

    • Oscar Alberto Abrego Suarez

Why? Its not like the MC is a self insert so its not like the players can get fulfill a fantasy, Yuri teasing on the other hand….

      • DyLaN

Fang is pretty much a lazy hedonist that is a bit full of himself. I doubt those are the traits of a self-insert MC.

        • Oscar Alberto Abrego Suarez

Thats my point so i dont see how a male being in a female centric game is going to have that much of an effect on the game sales because he is a full fledged character.

    • DyLaN

Do you miss the notice tht this game have multiple male characters?

  • 1 of those are mine, well LE

    • SprintsMcGee

      Same here =D

  • Fire.fire.kun

I’m giving the credit to Tsunako. For the past few anime seasons Date A Live and Neptunia aired on TV introducing people to her art style. And Date A Live fans also bought the game CH and Sting developed. Thus, fans of both series came together and have taken an interest in FFF.

  • AkiraScare

now when do we get our 50,000 limited editions brought to the states…

  • Shippoyasha

Very ambitious release by the company no doubt. I love their otaku centric releases and hopefully a game that appeals more as a mainstream RPG release is a success for them as well.

  • Ladius

Fairy Fencer’s shipment is two times the most successful Neptunia game’s LTD sales, it sure looks to be a big (and unexpected, at least on this level) success for IFCH. I look forward to see how many of those 100k copies will be sold first week.

  • alangato

Well, with some talent from NIS joining IF/CH I think they are going to grow a lot this gen!! Not a RPG powerhouse, but I think their output will be way better…FFF looks like a good start in that direction.

I still believe in you NIS, even though I think they are going to be more Disgaea oriented in the near future…even more than now XD

    • DyLaN

Lol the hater downvote in this thread is crazy =-= Ppl don’t want to see a game dev improving or they are too butthurt tht NIS staff move over to CH?

Though NISA got DR, TGFP and DG so they are not exactly Disgaea only.

      • alangato

I only said the truth lol, some people hate to live I think, so they downvote everything

  • EinMugenTenshin

Seriously, why is it impossible to get a gameplay video on youtube? -_-

    • DyLaN

      Uh… the trailers?

Also, most ppl haven’t got the game yet. Give it a while.

  • DyLaN

Here are what ppl who got the early copy has to say abt FFF courtesy of xizro345:

    >the story “goes in a completely different direction compared to Nepu”

    >other posters said weapon strengthening is basically necessary to avoid getting stomped by enemies

    >”this is not a galge [aka gal game, or bishojo game]. It’s a RPG that uses galge images”.

    • Göran Isacson

… Everything about this game sounds exactly like the kind of thing I want, and like it lacks the kind of things that made Neptunia so very “eh” to me. I now hope and will allow myself to get tentatively hyped for a localization. Just one thing though- have they said if the combat is any good, beyond that you have to strengthen the weapons or risk punishment? Like, do most fights just boil down to using the exact same tactic in every battle, or is it a bit more engaging than that?

      • DyLaN

I have no idea, I just copy paste the whole thing frm NISA forum.

Though in the famitsu review, they say people may get confused from dungeons initially due to the strategies involved.

  • ivanchu77

100,000 is pretty good for a game like this right?

Hopefully we get a localization soon, i enjoyed neptunia a lot, so it´s safe to say i will like this too :)
