Sega Vita Teaser Site Was For More Samurai & Dragons

By Spencer . October 27, 2013 . 11:38pm

Remember that Sega teaser site that said "the new story will begin?" It was for a Vita game, but it wasn’t exactly for a "new" Vita game. Sega announced the fifth season of Samurai & Dragons with the teaser site and a new video.

Samurai & Dragons, a free to play game designed in the vein of Kingdom Conquest, has been incredibly successful for Sega. The Vita game has tie-ups with other Vita games like Soul Sacrifice and Dead or Alive 5 Plus as well as a line up of console mascots. The new version, Intense Samurai & Dragons, kicks off on November 1. Sega localized the game in English, but so far has not released this version outside of Asia.

    SEGA said future remakes and re-releases depend on what fans want…I just want my localized copy of Valkyria Chronicles 3 ;_;

and VC’s return to the big consoles ;_:

      • MyBodyIsReady

I don’t think Valkyria chronicles really needs to come out on PS3/PS4, I think it would be pretty epic on PS Vita

        • Arcana Wiz

VC on consoles = more chances of localization :P

Also bigger cost for development and considering that it’s mostly a niche series (so far) I doubt sales numbers would make up for it. Wasn’t that the reason Sega moved the series to the PSP in the first place~?

I always saw VC as Sega’s answer to Nintendo’s FE. I see no reason why it couldn’t exist as a long running series on Sony’s handheld~.

what i was saying that Sega almost dont localize it rpgs on portables.
And they moved for the portables cause portables were a success on Japan, many seems to forget that the psp turned into a rpg heaven, and had a much bigger install base than console in Japan.

SEGA of America died, right? Because we’re missing a lot of good games from being localized lately… not only VC3, also Yakuza 5, Phantasy Star Online 2, etc.

    *gasp* SHOCKING!

HAH, good thing I didnt set my expectations high. Already burnt with that football teaser :L

    • leingod

Oh, god. That crap is still fresh in my memory.

      • HassanJamal

Thats right, let it burn. ALWAYS be wary of Sega’s teasers, they never end up being awesome :’L

I was heartbroken finding out it wasnt VC3 :’C

        • Chris Yuen

Before the football teaser was even up, I was already wary of it, thanks to the one week tease that Square Enix’s put up for The World Ends With You…only to reveal that it’s a IOS port. I’m still not healed from that.

          • HassanJamal

We’ve all been hurt :C SE and SEGA, be wary with them.

  • Arcana Wiz

Ewww, well good for the fans. Now i’ll wait for the guts teaser….

  • Brimfyre

It sucks that Sega is like this now, but they flat out said about 5 years ago they were turning all their attentions to this type of model, so it really shouldn’t be surprising.

We just need to wait patiently until the free to play model implodes on itself, which it will, probably soon, and then they will have no choice to go back to their old ways.
