Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic is getting a Nintendo 3DS RPG  next year. The game is a 3D, third-person dungeon crawler, and will allow players to control various characters from the series such as Aladdin and Hakuryuu Ren.

Magi is set in a loosely interpreted re-imagining of the old Middle East regions and area surrounding it where the idea of the cycle of life and death is real.

All living things have a Rukh lifesource which, once extinguished, returns to the Lifestream Rukh flow to be given to a new lifeform. While some will fall away from the path, others can control their Rukh to empower magic or even utilize the magics of others. Those who can do the latter are termed Magi, and titular Aladdin is one of them. There are also dungeons and castles scattered through the world, ruled over by powerful Djinn’s. Anyone able to overcome the challenges inside are called Dungeon Capturers, gaining the allegiance of the Djinn residing there and the ability to summon the powers of that dungeon for themselves and others.

Magi: A New World will be out for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan next February the 13th.

Never heard of this game but 3D third person dungeon crawler has my attention. Doesn’t seem like it will come to NA though.

  • Heisst

That title almost made it sound like it was coming over.

  • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

How well did the first one do?

I was wondering that too. It’s been on sale for nearly half price on AmiAmi for a while now, but that might not mean anything.

Well enough to get a sequel (over 29,000 in the first week and it recently released content for the game for free to hold player interest), but not nearly as well as JoJo’s PS3 title or One Piece games as you would expect, much better than Mushibugyo which was around 3,000 recently even if it had a very tough week. It was around 35,000 by the next week and probably sold small amounts since.

Started reading the manga a few months back. Loved it. Curious about how the game is.

  • Engi3Piece

Don’t lose hope for it not coming over, a dub by Aniplex USA is in the works. If its popular enough it may come ovet

    • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

      it already aired

      • Engi3Piece

wait, what, when? I wanted to watch it the third time in english, how many episodes are they in?

        • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

last time i check i was only episode 1

    • Firekitty

I just hope they’re smart enough to to dual audio if it does get localized…given that it’s been available English subbed for a while, I’d be willing to bet a lit of people are used to the original voices (and with that cast, I’d e unhappy if the option isn’t there.

      • Engi3Piece

Well about time it does get release (if it does) the dub should be well establish by then, they might not use dual audio. But you never know.

  • ZekeFreek

But you can’t play as Morgiana. That’d make the game waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too easy, lol.

    • British_Otaku

We were able to play as her in the last one. The demo even had her and three other characters (Aladdin and Alibaba of course were there). >_>

There is little chance they will drop work they did a year before, though I guess you are having fun making a joke about the events in the manga and anime. I’m only on Volume 1… >_>
