Attack On Titan’s 3DS Game Really Could Use Longer Trailers

By Spencer . November 1, 2013 . 12:28am

Spike Chunsoft released a new trailer for their Attack on Titan game. Well, it’s like a mishmash of trailers on top of each other. The gameplay looks faster than other hunting games and at the tail end it looks like you can see Eren fighting a Titan as a Titan. There’s a tiny bit of character customization squeezed in there too. Wouldn’t it be nice if Spike Chunsoft just made one long trailer with all of these clips tied together?

Attack on Titan comes out on December 5 for Nintendo 3DS.

Ahh it’s good to see that they will be fighting outside the walls as well. I was getting worried when I kept seeing the same town map over and over.

  • popyea

I think it’s too help disguise the lack of fidelity. 3ds games look better from afar.

    • Ninastars

More of 3DS games look better from the actual 3DS screen. For some reason trailers for 3DS games always tend to look worse than when you actually get to play the game.

  • Curan_Altea

I just want to see a solid chunk of gameplay with the ui and everything.
Looks fine but how it really plays is still a mystery.

  • British_Otaku

Forest and field environments (good to see), horseback riding directly into titan slaying (I hope we can get back on horseback in a OoT way or something), a timer in the corner of most gameplay footage, health for playable titan is measured in a body graphic (but probably doesn’t allow you to lose an arm like some Gundam games) and custom characters can have the green survey squad cloak.

Not too shabby, but I still want extended gameplay or a demo.

I’m tired of teasers for a game which is releasing next month anyway.
The cutting mechanic seems to be a timing based thing, but it may work if I can actually see it for an extended length of time or try it.

“Attack On Titan’s 3DS Game Really Could Use Longer Trailers”
    I agree.

  • If you blink, you’ll miss footage from this “trailer.”

  • fairysun

    Looks good so far.
I wish the environment is more hectic, with rubble, dust, and etc.
But for 3DS, I think this is good enough.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Could use a friggin demo too. I don’t like how automated everything seems, especially after playing the fan-made game where you literally control everything. Momentum doesn’t even seem to apply from the trailer.

    • Ferofax

Looks like you get slomo airtime, so you have more reaction time to aim and dash.

  • Prinny Dood

Ill take a localization announcement over a 20 second trailer :-)

    • British_Otaku

All of us would say that. >_> No matter how good or long a trailer is, we want to know that we can play it on our system and perhaps in the language we were raised with or prefer.

This game does need a good trailer regardless or it will be remembered by Siliconera’s users as that game which had 1000 teasers.

  • The Watcher

This looks like a pretty technical game. Can’t wait to see the pros do some flawless Levi like runs.

  • 永次

    Pre-ordered :)

    • British_Otaku

That was easy… What was the big selling point in this trailer for you then?

      Horses? Titan gameplay? Other environments?

      • 永次

Shingeki no Kyojin + Game + Action + Story + World Mode + Horses + Titan Mode + Yuki Kaji + OST from Anime = pre-ordered.

        • British_Otaku

That is a pretty solid line up, right. I’m mostly on edge as I already have some good games (One Piece World Red, One Piece Romance Dawn, Bravely Default, Pokemon, Ages of Amazones) for the 3DS lined up before the end of the year which are either safer bets or need my money to guarantee more localisations.

If you are interested in another action game with Yuki Kaji voicing the lead, you should look into E.X. Troopers on the 3DS (and PS3) as well. A trailer:

  • TheGameTagerZ

Yup pre-ordered can’t wait to playthrough this game

  • AkiraScare

why cant i kill titans in the west (TT_TT)

    • British_Otaku

You can always help yourself to the fan game developed by FengLee, word is FengLee’s project will be better than this one and perhaps even console official games with all of the updates and improvements it gets.

There was also an update recently where Eren is now playable plus more!

        • British_Otaku

Yep, I played that within hours of it being up.
The best things about the update aren’t Eren being playable or his special ability (which takes him beyond OP anyway), but the wandering titans (which adds some degree of luck but takes out a good deal of the memorisation while taking out a bunch of luck), crawlers, shading and blinding titans to bait them into attacks.

I guess Eren is the easiest thing to mention.

          • MXC

Honestly Eren is the least important part of the update for me as I will always use Mikasa. The best part of the update for me is honestly the crawlers.
We’re in a love/hate relationship right now XD

          • British_Otaku

I forgot to mention how you can hear titans stepping around now, it means that death isn’t completely out of nowhere and if you hear fast steps, get out the way… >_>

Always using Jean myself and the crawlers are the most fun addition as they shake up the formula so much, I want to know whether I can blind them instead of always having to do that risky rodeo but I’ve been eaten again and again. Targeting so low enemies is pretty tough when they move fast too.

  • ShadowDivz

Thank god the 3DS is region free like the Vita.
    Oh wait…

    • British_Otaku

There is a pretty good chance that unlike the crossovers and countless anime/manga games that aren’t Dragon Ball, Naruto and One Piece related, this and the second Magi game could make it to other regions.

Otherwise, it makes a good deal of sense to either pressure Nintendo to make the system region free or save up pennies for a Japanese 3DS, it’s hardly ideal but till recently we thought Senran Kagura was stuck right? >_>

      • ShadowDivz

True. But buying a japanese 3DS, doesn’t seem practical.

I could import like 3 vita games with that.
        Or buy 3 playstation games.
        Or 4 3DS games.

And for everything else… I have mastercard.

        • British_Otaku

The mastercard part actually got me… >_>

I agree that it’s super expensive to the point where you can buy multiple games on any system, but it is how the balance is between being any system and games for any other.

Chances those Vita/PS games will go on sale (perhaps free with PS+) on top of being region free, 3DS titles if they are localised in your region that’s good, but being a Siliconera frequenter you can probably name a few 3DS games or so which you are interested in but don’t see as likely to get over to where you are.

          • ShadowDivz

True. I don’t really have a mastercard though. I was referencing the commercials.

          • British_Otaku

I don’t think anyone who has referenced the commercials has a Mastercard, but then that speaks for me and how often I peek into people’s wallets more than anything. >_>
