Capcom gave us a look at what we’ll be getting from preordering Sengoku Basara 4, which includes plenty of costumes along with some of the neat items that will be coming with its limited edition versions. The latest trailer of the game shows Ishida Mitsunari and others in action while wearing their special outfits.

The above is a look at Sengoku Basara 4’s latest trailer, showing off some of the many characters featured in the upcoming game, including a peak at Date Masamune in his special Hakama & Wooden Sword DLC costume.

Capcom also gives us a closer look at several other costumes that will be available through downloadable content in Sengoku Basara 4. After showing off another look at Date Masamune’s practice wear, we get a glimpse of his rival Ishida Mitsunari rocking his Devil May Cry 3 Vergil outfit.

While it may look a bit out of place, Shima Sakon sporting the Twin-Sword Kung-fu costume seems to fit rather well, especially with his acrobatic style. Next, we get a look at Shibata Katsuie in his Absolute Justice costume, which keeps the looks of his original armor, but with the colors of the Japanese flag.

Sanada Yukimura is known for wearing red, which matches his fiery personality, but the Blue Dragon costume gives him a bit of a Date Masamune vibe, which he seems to have no problem pulling off. Tokugawa Ieyasu is then seen punching and head-butting opponents in delinquent-like fashion to go with his Basara Academy outfit.

Finally, we’re treated to a look at the hot-blooded general of the Ii army, Ii Naotora, wearing her wedding dress costume in action… which is rather strange considering how much she’s against men.

Sengoku Basara 4 will be available for PlayStation 3 on January 23, 2014.

    Draw your weapon!

  • Raindrops

    Two things to add – Katsuie’s alternate costume is a deliberate homage to Azai Nagamasa’s costume from the earlier games in the series, and Naotora’s wedding theme runs through her entire character design. Game director Yamamoto Makoto has mentioned a few times that her normal costume is based on Japanese bridal wear and accessories, so the bonus costume isn’t going against her established character. The fact that she’s so upset her fiance left her probably means she wanted to be married, not the opposite!

  • Göran Isacson

    Ha ha, that remix of the marriage march and rock. Loving it. Almost as much as I love how they dedicate a whole trailer to the girls to remind players that there ARE other people in the game beside the dudes, since… well, those ARE pretty much the ones the fanbase focuses on most of the time.

    How I hate Capcom USA :(

    • Max

      Why? Don’t tell me it’s because your thinking it’s not coming to the US because isn’t this still early to assume so?

      • Enma_Kozato

        Utage and the HD collection say “hi” in Japan. Capcom USA also essentially said Basara was too Japanese for the western market and cited that as the reason 1 and 3 sold poorly in the US.

        • Max

          Yes, but is it official that 4 is not coming to the US?

          • Enma_Kozato

            Considering Capcom USA said they weren’t going to bother with the series anymore, I’d think yes. If by some miracle it does come over though, yay. I’ll gladly pick it up.

          • Rafael Martines

            What a good time to Capcom USA fix their shit bring HD Collection and some kind of package with Sentoku Basara 3 and Utage :)

        • Just Tim

          Under that logic, Japanese devs might make more zombie games because zombies are “very Western”.

          In addition, it’s painfully obvious that Capcom USA did not spend significant marketing budget for Sengoku Basara in the USA.

          • Enma_Kozato

            Except most Japanese devs don’t care about the western market. Their interests lie in selling to the japanese market.

            Everyone knows Capcom USA didn’t market Basara. That’s because the company’s market forecast predicted it wouldn’t sell significantly.

      • Rafael Martines

        Well let’s see what Capcom USA did for the series

        Capcom Japan -> Capcom USA
        Sengoku Basara -> Devil Kings
        Sengoku Basara 2 -> ???
        Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes -> Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes*
        Sengoku Basara 3 -> Sengoku Basara Samurai Heroes**
        Sengoku Basara 3 Utage -> ???
        Sengoku Basara HD Collection -> ???
        Sengoku Basara 4 -> ???

        Not mention Sengoku Basara games on PSP and Sengoku Basara X :

        Bônus:
        E.X. Troopers -> ???

        *Only on Wii
        ** Only English voices, no Epic Japanese voices because Crapcom USA wanted the game be the same in both Wii and PS3 version :(

        • Thomaz Barros

          The dub was pretty good

          They got pretty much every single famous voice actor to play a role
          And Troy Baker’s was amazing as Mitsunari

        • Wappuli

          Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes was never localized, not even the Wii-version.

    • Guest

      Well let’s see…

      Sengoku Basara 2 -> ???
      Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes -> Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes*
      Sengoku Basara 3 -> Sengoku Basara Samurai Warriors**

        We never got Sengoku Basara 2: Heroes
        Also, the japanese voices are epic, but Samurai Heroes had one of the best dubs I’ve ever heard, if you can’t enjoy Liam O’Brien, Troy Baker, Johnny Yong Bosch, and Reuben Langdon (+Matthew Mercer, Travis Willingham, Richard Epcar, Kyle Hebert, Patrick Seitz, and Peter Beckman) screaming at each other then you’re dead inside. Those are some manly men voices.

  • Thomaz Barros

    I think the most important news in these two videos is the fact that they have introduced a completely new character in it.
    The mysterious girl in yellow is a new Enemy General(NPC), who i guess its really important to the story and is very likely to become playable in the next expansion

  • brian

    Some weird stuff:
    That absolute justice costume looks eerily similar to Nagamasa Azai’s default outfit, so I thought he was coming back as a playable character.
    Sakon Shima looks like he’s wearing the emblems of two opposing armies, Hideyoshi’s and Ieyasu’s.
    Ieyasu’s new costume looks almost identical to his default one.
    With that out of the way, do want~

  • Max

    Is the animation done by IG production? And do any one know if it’s just an intro animation or is there going to be animated cut scenes?

    I hope this DLC is one pack and not separate because I’m defiantly not going to pay for Date’s extra outfit. There’s just nothing cool about it

    Why didn’t they just gave him something to reflect Yukimura’s outfit just as they did to Yukimura?! Sometimes I can’t blame people when they complain about Capcom

    • Thomaz Barros

      Some characters will have an Anime Route in the game

  • http://soma4all.tk/ Soma

    PUT YA GUNS ON! Thankfully this game is playable without japanese knowledge

  • Strid

    Ii Naotora’s version has the best cover — so gettin’ that one.

  • Monterossa

    Always wonder what’s wrong with his thin head?

  • Nice Boat Quatro

    It’s a shame Masamune Date doesn’t have Dante outfit considering his phrases remind me of him.

    I’M ABSOLUTELY CRAZY ABOUT PARTIES!
