PS Vita TV has streaming media apps like Hulu Plus and Tsutaya TV in Japan. So far, no media apps have been announced for users outside Japan, but you can still play God Eater 2 on a big screen.

Thought for a second it said that it was coming over to the west.

    • Go2hell66

      me too

      • Patrick Lucas Honeyman

Slowly and surely it is and will. In fair time…

    • jujubee88

This is pretty much the closest we will get to a launch this year.

I’m going to be ordering it as soon I see an online retailer sell it for a good price.

Edit: Except it’s not this year. I’m being silly and not reading things. :D

Hopefully we hear about other regions soon.

    • jujubee88

If this is as close as I can get than, then I will jump on VITA come asia launch. VTV was going to launch around the same price listed in the article (if you convert JPY to USD)

      Hopefully, shipping doesn’t cost a lot. =_=

  • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Fun. I like playing PS1 games on the Vita tho.

    • Patrick Lucas Honeyman

Having played most of Resident Evil 2 again this week via my PS VITA, I wholeheartidly agree with you mate…

      • jujubee88

I played RE3 on Dreamcast back in the day. Been wondering about getting the PS1 version to play on VITA.

Hmmm. I’ll need to research the differences between PS1 and Dreamcast versions of RE3 before buying.

    I live in Israel, that’s in Asia too ;_;

And yeah, would be nice to have, would finally play all my US region psp games, because I’m too lazy to switch my Vita region from EU to US to play them (buy them via the PS3).

Well, at some point I’ll get another Vita for the region shenanigans.

    • leeorv

You live in Israel? add me on PSN!

  • Go2hell66

    wait a minute…
PS Vita TV works with the ps4 right? aren’t japan only getting the ps4 in feb!?

    • Stranger On The Road

The PS Vita TV is an independent console that can play PS Vita games (well, the ones that don’t use the touch screen). It can ‘stream’ PS4 games as well since it inherit the ‘Remote Play’ feature from the PS Vita (although at 720p).

The release of the PS4 is irrelevant to the release of the PS Vita TV. But the combination of both would be nice.

      • Go2hell66

ok i thought it couldnt work without a ps4, that makes sense

  • Chris Yuen

Hey, don’t forget you can play Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus (all those T&As on your big screen!) as well as Persona 4 Golden! (at least, these two are a couple of titles I’ll highlight instead). Them Sony be after our Ang Pao (red packet) money!

  • Anon-non

English? Because I’m prepared to sell my Vita.

    • mirumu

We’ll know soon as it starts shipping in Japan on the 14th. If it uses the same firmware as the originals then it should be quite straight forward to switch to English.

      • jujubee88

All that matters really is that:

        a) “X” and “o” arent switched
        b) These patches being produced for JP games are also being updated in the livearea for english versions

Stuff like region locking we never need to worry about. VTV Remote-play has a 50/50 chance of being supported on Asia launch.

Even if remote play is not supported at Asia launch, it’s okay for me. I just need to see those devs push through LiveArea VTV patches to my NA version of YS Celceta and P4G and I’ll be ready to go!

Playing awesome JRPG’s on the portable and TV! SO HYPE!! :D

    • TheExile285

Vita owner selling his towards a VitaTV? Does sound like a good idea since you are getting to less games for TV support.

      • Anon-non

Well, I don’t game-on-the-go. I’d rather play some Vita exclusives on a big screen.

        • Learii

not all vita games can play on the big screen I am sure you know that

          • Anon-non

Yeah, but I pretty much only play RPGs or action-based. I won’t be missing out much on touch-heavy games.

          • Learii

same here I only play RPG too but hey you never know if some RPG use screen touch in the feature

          • jujubee88

I honestly hope Japan embraces VTV. We also don’t need games to get to a point where one can play only on VITA because touch.

Than it would seem like touch is shoved in to the game (to spite VTV.) .__.

  • Mastema

Don’t worry, you can always import one of them.

    • jujubee88

      This is the plan! :D

  • Lemski07

ill get this one again if its affordable

  • Nitraion

Asian? sounds like music to me :D

    • jujubee88

      lolwut

  • Chido55

Singapore is close enough (Malaysian here).
    Well…..

MY BODY IS SOOO READY!! 8D

    • jujubee88

      HOLD ME, CHIDO! D:

      • Chido55

I DON’T KNOW WHO YOU ARE, BUT I WILL FIND YOU, AND I WILL HOLD YOU TIGHT! XD

  • http://confitdent.com thedood7

Oh! Cool, since my country (Philippines) imports stuff from Hong Kong and Singapore so yeah, no problem there. This might be good for my friend.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    Waiting.gif

  • TheExile285

1GB internal? Oh, I could import this and not have to worry about a MC right away.

    • jujubee88

Yeah, if you just want to live off physical vita game cards. Eventually, you will want one of those pricey pricey high GB memory cards!

      • TheExile285

Oh I know lol. Already own a Vita. Thinking about getting a VitaTV for imports so I can get DLC and not have to worry about account switching.

        • jujubee88

Oh yeah, you will want a BIG memory card for that. 32GB should be fine, I mean the app limit is still in VTV (since it uses the same FW).

Me, I’m going to have a 8GB and 32GB. I will keep my 32GB in the handheld and 8GB in VTV. I’ll have ps+ for “transfarring” (lol!) saves and only keep game I really REALLY want to play on VTV. Aaand I’ll have to wait and see about PS4. (I’ll probably just use PS4′s 500GB for content transfer and remote play tbh)

Ooooh VITA TV! Why you so awesome. >.<

  • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 禍津水木

    Still getting mine next week

    • jujubee88

      Sounds good! :D

  • Rokkun

Games with minimal touch screen usage should be patched to be compatible with the Vita TV, like what Falcom did for Ys. C’mon game devs!

  • Aristides

    I can’t wait!!!!!
