From Strategy RPG To Fighting Game, Here’s Team Tears To Tiara In Aquapazza

By Spencer . November 11, 2013 . 3:31pm

Aquapazza is a mashup of characters, most of which have never been seen outside of Japan. The Tears to Tiara crew come from one of Leaf’s tactical RPG.

Arawn, the sword wielding dude, is the protagonist and slayer of a demon king. He rescues Riannon who was sacrifice for the demon summoning ritual. Riannon falls for Arawn head over heels and becomes his first wife. Morgan, the archer in the beginning of the video, is Arawn’s second wife. Arawn actually has more wives just in case Aquaplus ever makes a sequel to Aquapazza. I suppose they could throw some characters from Tears to Tiara II in there as well.

Aquapazza comes out next week in North America.

I could never bring myself to buying this without at the least Tears to Tiara II being localized first…hint hint…nudge nudge :P

  • Maksim Tsirulnik

Actually, Arawn is the demon king summoned at the ritual…he just isn’t the stereotypical evil demon king and instead saved Riannon from her kidnappers and, later, her brother who is another protagonist (you can see him in one of the “Tears to Tiara” stages backgrounds).

I do like how they just put Multi and Chizuru with the Tears to Tiara characters, since there was nowhere else to put them.
(I would’ve thought it sensible to put the sole ToHeart character with the ToHeart 2 characters, but I guess I’m not the one publishing it stateside.)

How are Leaf’s games? I know most are eroges but are they worth playing?

    • Well. I´ve only played Tears to Tiara for the PC and Utawaremono and both are great SRPG titles. Loads of text and character development and funny moments mixed with sad ones.

So yes, if you understand Japanese and can get your hands on their games then by all means yes Leaf´s games are good. ToHeart 2 is quite popular and even got itself a dungeon crawling spinoff.

As a SRPG they arent that great and really simple. But as a VN they’re great, with great story and characters.

Next week, huh…I’m torn between buying it right away, or putting it on a Christmas list. DX

  • Hm, well Arawn was hailed as the “demon king” and RIannon was supposed to be the sacriface to wake him up. But Arawn being Arawn just didn´t feel like it so he woke up early and didn´t require the sacriface :p

So slayer of demon king? Nah, not really :)

Good to see that Tears to Tiara is getting some posts about it. Octavia is in Aquapazza right? She´s also one of Arawn wifes. So yeah, he could be called the harem king :)

  • Siliconera, by any chance can you guys get some kind of answer out of Atlus USA if they know whether Examu is going to fix the online play for the US version of the game!?

  • hazelnut1112

Definitely gonna buy it, not when it comes out but soon. Looks interesting to play.

  • I’m still going back and forth. The thing about this game is that I really don’t “know” any of the characters. I realize that fighting games aren’t well known for their character development, but I’d still like some familiarity with the histories of the fighters.
