Dark Souls II’s Beta Reveals Executioner’s Chariot And Skeleton Lord Boss Fights

By Spencer . November 12, 2013 . 2:51pm

Fresh from the Dark Souls II English beta are more videos of the Executioner and Skeleton Lord, two bosses from the upcoming game. True to his name, the Skeleton Lord brings a small army of skeletons with him. It looks like the fight actually begins with a couple of Skeleton Mages before the Skeleton Lord comes out.

The key to defeating the Executioner’s Chariot is hiding in crannies to avoid getting run over and dropping a gate for the boss to crash into.

Dark Souls II adds a Dual Swordsman class for advanced players. Here’s a look.

I’m extremely bored with that Skeleton boss fight. The room looks far too much like the Grave Lord’s Pit and the fight is pretty easy. Executioner is easy as pie if you just take it slow which is easy to do if you just hug the wall. I’ll probably still pick the game up but so far everything I’ve seen has been a pretty huge letdown.

Both were fairly easy, but they’re still tweaking the difficulty. During the last 30 minutes of the beta test they raised the difficulty.

The Skeleton Lord boss fight reminded me a bit of Fool’s Idol from Demon’s Souls, which also happened to be pretty easy. It seems like Dark Souls II might be going back towards Demon’s Souls roots with more emphasis on difficulty during area progression, instead of just the bosses. There were quite a few black phantom NPCs in the beta test that blocked your path to the bosses.

did you rush through the beta ?

because at the last 30 minutes, they increased the difficulty to max

      • Khoko

Yeah. I heard about the difficulty increase. I’m hoping when the game drops it’s harder than it was because that wasn’t very fun.

          it was a beta test…

          • didnt you know? the beta is the full game. Derp derp

durrr, how did i forget herpaderp

Noooooo really? Who would have thought a beta was a beta.. I mean come on. We all know Beta means finished product.

It being a beta doesn’t excuse the baby-mode difficulty. If anything it should have been harder in the beta and scaled down to meet the majority. Instead it seems they made it beyond easy and then scaled it up in the last 30 minutes. Which seems pretty silly as most people would have played it and left.

My thoughts during this fight. “Oh jeez it’s a bunch of skeleton mages, their probably gonna spam magic at- oh nope, there coming right up and attacking me, lovely.” After killing one. “Alright, one down, two to- where did those wheel skeletons come from!?” lol
