Killer Instinct Classic Has Two Versions Of The Arcade Game, Won’t Be Sold Separately

XboxWire_Thunder_2 Microsoft will release the original Killer Instinct arcade game with the new Killer Instinct from Double Helix. However, you can only get Killer Instinct Classic with the Ultra Edition. The arcade classic won’t be sold separately.

"Killer Instinct Classic is a complete port of the original Killer Instinct arcade game, and you can ONLY get it with the Ultra Edition of Killer Instinct," producer Torin Retting said to Siliconera. "In fact it is a complete port of TWO versions of the Killer Instinct arcade game. It includes the original arcade ROM (v1.4) with all of the classic, fan-favorite glitches, and the revised version (v1.5D) that came out later to fix things like Cinder’s infinite combo. In addition to this we’ve added cool extras like a training mode, frame effects like scan lines to emulate a CRT and galleries of the original sprites."

Killer Instinct Classic won’t have online multiplayer, but Retting adds the team has been "talking about it a lot." We also asked if Killer Instinct 2 would be released later on. Retting teased, "No news for Killer Instinct 2 for Xbox One… yet."

Microsoft launching old Nintendo/Rare titles on Xbox and nothing regarding Banjo on VC =(

    • Harley Gorillason

Microsoft has the rights to Banjo through Rare, which is why they’re on XBLA.

I read a long time ago that they still had to made a deal with Nintendo to release the HD versions on the 360.

It also said that it would allow Nintendo to release at least the N64 games for the VC.

Of course, I cannot bring where I read it since it has been a long time. Hell, I cannot even confirm if it was true or not.

If only Rare was doing worse than they are and can go back to Nintendo.
Even old Rare employees said if for some miracle Nintendo gets back Rare then they could try to join back and team up with Retro to make a proper Banjo Threeie.

But in the end we get this rushed looking game.

Even if it’s half-baked, I still wanna at least try this :(

  • Strangely, this additional free game is the game I want most when looking at the games coming out for either of the two consoles releasing this month… :/

Seriously, this is the first time arcade perfect versionS of the original KI are gonna be on consoles, and how I wish they had just released it for even $19.99 on the 360! >_< lol

Really wish there were some details on getting those games for people who were gifted the full roster through email.
I really want the classic games and could justify paying the extra $20 for all the stuff if I was already buying the full roster of characters, but paying $40 for everything since I’m getting the characters for free just doesn’t make sense.
