imageOne of Quest’s classics is getting a re-release on Wii U in Japan. Square Enix will bring Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen to Virtual Console on November 20.

This game started the Ogre Battle series which Square Enix revisited with the PSP remake of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. While director Yasumi Matsuno is no longer at Square Enix, he is working on a new strategy game set in a fantasy world called Unsung Story for smartphones.

    Enix… ;_;

    Seriously loved this game. Played it religiously without any kind of strategy guide for a year when it came out.

    bring it to North American Virtual Console, Now.

      So much this. I loved Let Us Cling Together on PSP, and even managed to have a good time with Ogre Battle 64. I’m more than ready for this.

    This particular game had very unique gameplay. Tactics Ogre on the other side, went the FFT route and lost its unique factor. Hopefully they’ll revisit Ogre Battle’s gameplay someday.

    • d19xx

      FFT is actually based on Tactics Ogre. But yeah I wish they somehow revisit that type of game.

      • leingod

        Oh, well… I thought it was the other way around. Whatever the case, yeah, I’d like that too.

    this is on the regular wii VC right?

  • Fango

    loved this game! i really hated that they went towards the SRPG gameplay with tactics

    • H_Floyd

      Ogre Battle *is* a strategy RPG.

      • Fango

        was refering to the type of gameplay. but thanks for being a smartass

    …I still remember the EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) two-page-spread posters for this game… so much nostalgia flooding in…

    Also, Fire Emblem. :)
