Imageepoch Shows Off Its 3DS RPG, Toshin Toshi

By Spencer . November 21, 2013 . 1:41am

Criminal Girls developer Imageepoch have their first Nintendo 3DS game in the works and fittingly it’s a remake of an eroge visual novel, Toshin Toshi. The Nintendo 3DS game has harem elements, but the core game is a 3D dungeon crawler.

You play as Seed, a warrior that enters the Toshin Tournament, where you are partnered with a girl. If you knock out another fighter you get to take their female partner out on a date in hopes of getting their skills as a gift. But, before you go out and date too many girls Hazuki who is partnered with another tournament fighter named Bellnas sees Seed as the love of her life.

Toshin Toshi comes out on January 30, 2014 for Nintendo 3DS.

This is one crazy game to try and adapt for all ages. Even as an eroge the plot made no sense. They should have dropped the female partner as collateral thing and maybe just gone with Seed trying to win so he can marry Hazuki as the whole story. It would be bare bones sure, but it would also make more sense. The hentai version could at least hide behind the fact that its hentai and thus should include sex. Here its just out of place.

Welcome to alicesoft been doing that crackpot plot shit “just cause for the lawls” since the 80s

  • James Williams

I don’t get the point in collecting all these ladies if you already in love with someone, it seems really stupid.

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

      harem

    • Renaldi Saputra

you just didn’t get used into anime contents these times..
      yah well, it’s harem

    • http://twitter.com/puchixseda puchinri

Yeah; whether it’s anime, game or whatever, I don’t understand the point in establishing an initial lover if the game is a harem. Well, no, I can definitely understand why some creators go that route, but I don’t agree with it.

      • Shippoyasha

I don’t see why it’s supposed to be objectionable full stop. Harem stories are meant to be more lighthearted and whimsical, not like with more dramatic shows where the story worries about having that perfect pairing. Plus, having the option to experiment and court many types of people is a good idea to me. Again, as something fantastical or whimsical goes.I mean Persona pretty much has a harem too.

        • http://twitter.com/puchixseda puchinri

I guess to me, it just doesn’t seem light-hearted that you have a lover and then are supposed to go establish relationships with others (that’s called cheating). The problem is, harem stories very, very rarely just make it so that you have an open relationship, or if you weren’t aiming for romantic relations with the others it wouldn’t be a problem.

It could be played much more whimsical, but I have a hard time taking certain aspects as “whimsical” the way creators try to establish it.

          • FlyingPony

In start of most harem, the protagonist do not establish relationship with the girls, and usually a single guy.

Its not cheating as you claim, as the hero and heroine are not even lovers yet.

The plot start with the main guys as friends with the girls, and gone many situation that deepen their bond. They can be alone left together to clean the classroom, asked by senpais to buy stuff at shop, mostly things that not romantic or semi romantic, and usually thing that friends do together.

As story progress, all the girls like him (for whatever reason), and try to grab his attention and the guy in this phase, are confused with the approaches and realize his romantic feeling towards the girls.

At the end the harem type story will end with the protagonist choose one of the girl, and the story end.

That is how typical harem plot goes…
The relationship only established at the end of the story, and the plot mostly about the reader guessing which is the girl he’ll end up with based on the interaction.

          • http://twitter.com/puchixseda puchinri

Haha, I understand what you’re saying, but you’re on a slightly different topic. We’re talking specifically about harems that do go out of their way to establish a prior romantic interest/relationship (that isn’t even one-sided in some cases). I know very well how harems work, I’m a fan to an extent (I just won’t let them off the hook, like I do with everything else I like).

In this game, the protagonist already has a love interest and it sounds like both of their endgoals are to be with each other; but his part of that journey includes romancing other people for whatever reason, and that’s the point of contention. Why not just let there be no relationship in the beginning and let him romance a bunch of people, or just make it so he isn’t actually establishing romantic relations with the other gals.

(In one of the articles, it mentions that yes, Hazuki intends to marry Seed, but also that Seed does not intend to lose Hazuki to Bellnas, so. . .?)

    • PreyMantis

      Netorare… Never go that way.

    • FlyingPony

“But, before you go out and date too many girls Hazuki who is partnered with another tournament fighter named Bellnas sees Seed as the love of her life.”

Its the girl (Hazuki) that love the boy (Seed), so the boy dating (or learning, as he date to obtain skill) with many girls is not a problem as he, do not love anyone, yet.

      • James Williams

Thank you for clearing that up, i must have some ass reading skills to miss that, I’d be much more comfortable playing it that way than the other :), I’d rather develop romances in game and still save someone.

Interesting premise, but I’m not impressed. I won’t be picking this one up.

  • TheExile285

Atlus USA should bring this Westward! :D

    • Ric Vazquez

The exile has spoken, now do it Atlus

    • Renaldi Saputra

if Conception II can, maybe this has a chance too.. but, will they?

      • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Well, we need to see on whether Conception will do well or not first right?^_^

        • Renaldi Saputra

I kinda doubt, just like when NISA doing Neptune Idol PP, but let’s just see..

oh ya, I heard this game has connection with AliceSoft, which they said it hates to localize things

          • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Well, that kinda breaks my heart.T_T

          • Renaldi Saputra

recently, RPG games that being localized by NISA didn’t do well in the west IIRC.. Neptune PP is likely very new to western gamers (especially rhythm) seeing by the genre (idol). This makes more hesitation unfortunately

          • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

While i understand where you come there, i also view it differently. These time, we actually see Sega bringing Hatsune Miku franchise outside of Japan.

So, i am more to think that rather than Jrpg not doing well, it is on NiSa not doing well here.

          • Renaldi Saputra

probably, since NISA’s reason of localizing it was pretty sure because Neptune Fans’ requests..

          • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Yup. Lets hope for the best that we will get this game here.^_^ While i can import it, it is always nice to play the game on language i 100% understand rather than 50%.T_T

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Looking forward for these game.^_^ I would be even happier if i see this game outside of Japan.^_^

Go Go Conception. Be succesful and we will had chance to get these one too.^_^

      Banzai!

  • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

I say GG to Girls Gift lol =^_^=

    *Looks at ATLUS pleadingly :3*

  • Yan Zhao

That premise actually sounds pretty interesting for a harem game.

  • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Its really odd how most of the 3DS RPG’s are dungeon crawlers these days.

Guess we can thank Atlus for that :P

  • Warboss Aohd

    sure, why not.

  • fearlubu

An impressive amount of lolis. I approve.

  • SerRompalot

Kalar for life! Love me some Pastel and Reset.

Isn’t this the same developer as Time and Eternity? :/
