Strider’s Ouroboros Boss Fight Has A Shadow Of The Colossus Feel To It

By Spencer . November 28, 2013 . 3:34am

You can’t have a Strider game without the snake-like Ouroboros as a boss. Strider brings the Ouroboros back and you can do more than ride it in the new Strider.

Ouroboros Mk-? is a gigantic enemy you can climb on. While you’re clinging to the robotic snake there are electric traps that can damage Strider. Jumping on Ouroboros Mk-? is another way to reach its head, but that doesn’t look much easier since Strider will have to dodge incoming missiles.

The difference between this game and shadow of the colossus is while it was a fun challenge to defeat one of them, this game I got bored of just mashing slash if you remember the ladder climbing segments in mega man where that at set intervals lightning comes out its just like that if you even get hit once you feel embarrassed because of how simple it is, then round 2 the missile come and you now just jump over them or counter them with a casual slash as they come towards you, then last form you have to deal with platforming as well as the boss itself and some mooks as well, it finally becomes a challenge only when all that stuff is going on and it still is impossible to lose more then 1/4 of your health as they never overwhelm you.

This game is just to easy it looks nice but its not fun to play.

You do realize, THIS game isn’t out yet, right?

Also, periods are your friend. Ease up on the commas. It’ll make what you write more coherent..

      • maelxich

Well its not like there has been no way to play it, it has been at New York Comic con and was not impressed. It is a lot like DmC all flash no challenge. Do you really think they will make it harder by launch? I think you are giving the company that made battleship the video game a little to much credit. They made one decent game but this game is just not fun it feels like it was made for people who complain castelvania and metroid are to hard.

        • MoriyaMug

Well, fun is entirely subjective. I’m looking forward to it.

        • Dylan Harris

Stfu DMC was the best one in the series, who gives a hell if it was easier then the other ones, and your a moron if your basing this game being easy off DEMOS, you fool

    • Göran Isacson

Aw man, that’s a bummer to hear. This boss could have been really fun and challenging if they mixed those attacks up, but apparently they went with the “everyone should be able to beat this” thinking instead… eh, one can hope that the other bosses will be harder. After all, the original Ouroboros boss in the Genesis Strider wasn’t THAT complicated either.

      • maelxich

True he was easy in that game as well but this game reminds me of DmC, not in a horrible reboot sort of way more in the way of giving you a lot of flash for little effort and making you feel like you are great when you really only pressed 2 buttons. the over abundance of health pick ups the simple parry system all seems to be to make the game easy which is fine, but it is to a point where the game becomes dull and uninteresting, even with all the chaos which is sad I go back to my comic con argument I played it there and had to force my self to finish I just got bored only hit once the whole game. Now I know there will be a “hard mode” which will be less item pick ups but the enemies themselves were very aggressive in the demo just not very accurate or quick enough to match the player. The whole have all the items at the start lose them all after the first level just feels cheesy and more in line with metroid then strider. that may be just one level intending to show you how to play and make players feel good for demo purposes but it makes the player to good.

Thats all I have to say the game is fun and I am glad to see strider again but the new design is dull and the game it self is boring to me just TO ME my opinion.

        • Göran Isacson

Yeah, I getcha. It could be the case that they just pumped you up for the demo stage, but if ones reaction to having all these late-game powerups is to be bored by the challenge, that’s not exactly good. A sound action game is fun no matter if you’re late-game or early-game, after all.

Well, either way I think I’m getting the PS3 version simply because it will include the original games, which I haven’t played on an actual console and not an emulator in… years. But still, it would be nice if the actual new game was fun as well.
