The Train Of Death Has Departed. Destination: You.

By Eugene . December 1, 2013 . 5:00pm

Gadunk gadunk… Kathunk kathunk…. Gadunk gadunk… The slow, steady sounds awaken you… And you find yourself locked up, in a strange place, away from where you last thought you were. Ahh yes, it’s about time for another of those escape-the-room games, this one published by Arc System Works.

As Tokino, a girl who’s been interested in the mysterious “Death God’s Train,” players will have to trek their way through the hell that is realizing you might truly be trapped, alone, on board it.

Escape Adventure: The Death God’s Train of Nightmares is from developers Arc System Works, so there’s quality assurance here in striking the right tones for this Nintendo 3DS eShop software. I wonder, though, if people who enjoy this sort of genre prefer their games with a little bit of backstory? And does it seem like it’s always something either crazy creepy like a damn death train, or else completely easy like… this?

While you’ll find flashbacks with other characters and diary notes—possibly even written by Tokino herself—players will have to figure out how to overcome puzzles and more to escape… before whatever trapped her in the first place comes back. Eerie!

Escape Adventure: The Death God’s Train of Nightmares will be on the Nintendo 3DS eShop in Japan on the 4th of December.

the last time i saw a train of death it ended up being suplexed.

    • Tyler Beale

      The Ultimax Suplex Hold!!!!

    • M’iau M’iaut

All that effort for some cheap pops. Not wasted effort, btw.

  • Nanaki

Where’s Sabin when you need him?

    • Jonah Paley

I literally came into this article just to post what you posted. To the exact word, too. Next time I guess I gotta go faster

  • WingsOfEternity

Is this supposed to be Corpse Party and 999’s baby?

    • AkiraScare

If you die brutally then its CP and if its impossible to beat its 999 (^_^)…. never beat 999 (TT_TT)

      • TaintedSeraph

I can understand why you never beat it. 999 was definitely a lot more challenging than it’s sequel.

        • WingsOfEternity

I would say its frustrating to play without a flow chart guide. I found VLR’s final puzzles harder.

          • Lumi

In terms of game endings, 999 is definitely much harder. I don’t remember any puzzles that are luck based in VLR though… Except, if you count the game freeze/save game corruption a luck based puzzle >_<,

        • Kumiko Akimoto

999 is really easy to beat there are a lot of puzzles you can figure out on your own VLR were sometimes luck based and randomized

  • GameWinner

So um…chances of an English release?

    • InfectedAI

None until told otherwise, which you most likely won’t be.

    • kylehyde

Being an eshop title, it could happen, but I don’t put my hope high.

    • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

if it gonnq have voice acting in Japanese to English then waitnwill be long if just translated like Senran Kagura Burst then not too long.

    • landlock

Try asking Pqube and ZenUnited since they have close ties with ASW in Europe.

  • Tyler Beale

Now if only some of these ASW VNs would come over by way of Aksys….

Oh, and BTW, in the Vita version of BBCSE, the game crashes on FW 3.00 when trying to invite someone into a Player Match.

  • 07thCrow

There is no where near enough of these escape games in English… sad… :'(

  • KuroNathan

I don’t know why but the more I look over this, the more I get Nanashi no Game vibes from it.

    • Jesse

You too? Better keep focus groups away from this game.(I haven’t forgotten that incident. -_- )

  • Zypharium

Still, we will never have the chance to play such awesome games. Oh, well, I will be waiting for Virtue’s last Reward 2.

  • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

First couple of screens remind me of Hell Night/Dark Messiah. That’s a good thing.

  • makubexnas

Spoiler………kumamon will be in this train.

  • Zoozbuh

Ahhh.. There is no excuse why this shouldn’t be localized, it looks awesome for an eShop purchase!! Please Aksys/other companies with links to Arc System Works, translate it so I have something to fill the void until Zero Escape 3 :)

  • Aristides

I’ve been seeing a lot of new Ark adventure titles but, no localizations… didn’t Ark open up a US branch for that same reason, I mean they already released Guilty Gear Vita >_>

  • Sergio Briceño

If I were about 14 and were locked up with a girl that looked 18 and a pretty “I can pull off glasses” one at that… I wouldn’t be wasting my time trying to escape… Just saying…

  • s07195

How much will it cost? I think I have a spare 1000 yen Nintendo point card from Japan at home.
