Final Fantasy II Catches Airship To Wii U Virtual Console In Japan

imageSquare Enix will re-release the Final Fantasy game that’s so much more fun when you hit your own party members on Wii U. Final Fantasy II is scheduled to come out on December 11 and will cost 500 yen ($5).


Final Fantasy II set the foundation for future Final Fantasy games with its revolving fourth party member, a character named Cid, and chocobos.


The game will join Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy VI which are already available as Wii U Virtual Console downloads in Japan.

    If you want to play Final Fantasy 2, get the PSP remake because that’s the best version of it.

      I agree.

      The Souls of Rebirth mode was so much fun that I enjoyed playing it more than the actual game.

      Either that or the Origins (PS1)/Dawn of Souls (GBA) remake. Regardless of which one you choose, any of them is better than the original.

      Even with the improvements that the remakes add, though, it’s still the weakest of the pre-VII FF games. That said, it’s not bad and, like the article mentions, it added a lot of elements that would become staples in the series. Contrary to popular belief, it was II and not VI that first added steampunk elements.
