Hudson Icon Takahashi Meijin Aka Master Higgins Is In Another Video Game

By Spencer . December 5, 2013 . 1:03am

If you own a 16 Shot or played Adventure Island you’ve seen Takahashi Meijin. He *is* the main character in Adventure Island better known as Master Higgins in the West. After Hudson was absorbed by Konami, Meijin started making cameos in other games like Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2.

He’s in a special demo for Puppeteer too. Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia just released Takahashi Meijin’s Puppeteer Rehearsal Version on Japan’s PlayStation Store. Puppeteer is a unique game based on Japanese puppet theater where you cut through a level using giant scissors. You can pick up different heads, but in this demo you play as a puppet version of Takahashi Meijin.

Takahashi Meijin’s Puppeteer Rehearsal Version will only be available for month. It’s free, but it won’t be on the PlayStation Store after January 5, 2014.

This is simultaneously really weird, and really cool.

Puppeteer is fantastic. I pity those that didnt grab it for sale on PSN a week or so ago. A nice blend of beautiful graphics and pretty neat gameplay.

    • I bought it for 20 at Best Buy I’m surprised this went under the radar for me its a great game!

Thats thanks to Sony’s marketing team…they did squat when this game launched. Such a shame, its one of those platformers that looks and plays great!

I used to like the Adventure Island games a lot!

AI II is one of my favorite games, I would love to see a new Adventure Island game, if there shall be any plans, in the form of that one. It’s part of such a great, and underrated, series.

Wow Pupetter and Adventure Island gameplay is indeed a perfect match

Anyone else noticed that Konami has done jack-all with the Hudson properties they obtained? No new Bomberman, no Adventure Island, no anything.

Then again, Konami’s been doing next to nothing with their own properties as well.

I feel your pain. I hated that Bonk: Brink of Extinction got cancelled, and Bomberman 3DS got cancelled, this time because of the merger. I absolutely love Bomberman, Bonk and AI, if Konami has no plans in the cards than I hope that somebody else will purchase those properties.

I have to admit, I did not see that coming. One wonders if they were just fans of Takahashi, or if there was some kind of inter-company crossover going on for.. reasons.
